I did not like this one, it did not make sense. Well it did not say what the orgins of this monsters were or how it all started. All it talks about is what it did and not what made it start or why. Most of these "Masters Of Horror" episodes are so poorly written and very sexist and just plain GARBAGE! One of the very few episodes that was actually quite good was "The Fair-Haired Child" which I highly recommend.

The film is LOOSELY adapted from a short story written around the turn of the century, I believe. The premise of the original story was the theory that, if there are sounds we can't hear and waves of light we can't see, it's possible for creatures to exist on these spectrum that we are unable to detect with our natural senses.  Things that can rip us to bits without us being aware of them. In the story a few folks go insane knowing about them.

I'm not really sure where the oil bit came from.
