  • they should try this at the whisper wall in grand central station...

  • wat is that music thats soo like borderlands/rage style music its awesome

  • Some of you are morons. They aren't saying you need a parabolic mirror to perform this... They are using them to "increase the difficulty" of their search recognizing their voices, hence proving the effectiveness of the app!?

  • @littlebigdood

    Technology*

  • s2 save me at the desert..

  • should've just driven out to The Parkes Dish, they have the same setup...

  • F_ck Siri....this is a pretty cool test

  • Its a quallaty test for the android google talk function. Its a perfect example of how technolagy is so advanced. Yet everyone just says "just another piece of useless technolagy". Dont take technolagy forgranted.

  • Yum

  • cool truck.

I would like to see these dishes set up in the city to try them out for myself.

  • ahah where is the nearest pub. THAT is win.

  • im it the 303 rd visitor yahoo

  • This'll be a nice physics experiment for school.

  • This is true science in the field. Might seem stupid, but then how can you prove something works if you don't try it...

  • we tried it it workd without dishes too...

  • thumbs up if ur the 303rd viewer

  • @TheJoe8390 No, I really AM the 303rd viewer!

  • stuuuuuuupid

  • Phone is small and Parabolic Mirrors are Big dose not mean that they are testing the Parabolic mirrors. It is a crazy test to show that Google voice is sensitive enough to recognize voice even it is that weak.... Correct me if I am wrong

  • What does it prove? Parabolic mirrors do work, but what is it do with the voice search?

  • @mooo3721 Everything.

  • Ok, but, if you ar ein the middl eof the dessert, how did you have Mobile Connection? As far As i know no antenna was visible in what seems to be 20km minimum...

  • @mediamantx It was connected to satellite internet.

  • @CPGustafson Is a normal smartphone capable of connecting to those? or does it need any spetial reciever?

  • @mediamantx They probably just connected the modem to a AP (wireless router), and the phone connected to the AP. So technically yes a normal smartphone can connect to that, but you need a AP.

  • yeah because I have a parabolic mirror just lying in my garage... WTF?!

  • siri sucks

  • jesus, apple fanboys just don't know how to appreciate this. Siri took 6 times to recognize my korean-australian-american accent, +5 for my japanese friend, vlingo and google just in one go.

  • @johnkang2000 thats because your english sucks. say to your friend to speak fucking japanese.

  • @Smikez3 Nope, we speak english just fine, it's just that your Siri's voice recognition is limited. I mean we only need one vlingo for all English accents: both Australian and American, but apparently the "American" version of Siri can only understand the American accent, now that's just "silly".

  • @johnkang2000 That's probably because English and American English are different, most American accents emphasise vowels whereas British and Australians shorten them, Although it would be even more interesting to see with even harder accents like Kiwi or South African.

  • What a waste of time.

  • what was the point in this? Also did they get paid to do this... Because that's not work, that's wasting time.

  • is that all? i can talk through a can attached to a string

  • Fail. Just as useless in real life. Terrible voice recognition. Still 5 years behind Siri on iPhone 4s. But as long as they keep improving it will slowly get better.

  • interesting..

  • cool.
