I dont think the rubber on the table has that much of affect. Its not like the rubber is soft they are usualy hard. Headbutt a concrete wall then headbutt another concrete wall covered in that thin layer of rubber they are both gonna hurt like hell
@Saggmos95 The "HD" indicates the stronger construction. If it doesn't say, "HD," it's a different filter and you should avoid bashing it on the corner of display cases :-)
My B+W already shows its quality. Been on my lens for 5 years and no problem. Have lots of bang on it certainly. Sure, I don't bang it like what he does on video. I never use lens cap either. and B+W shows no problem with it. :)
But my Hoya glass comes out of its frame wiyhout banging for 3 months.
Glad to hear that Hoya work their ass off tho. :)
What you're saying is true for most photographers. However, there are plenty of pros that do work in situations where they might bang their lenses on rocks or other stuff. Piece of mind is worth a lot. This filter also means you don't have to use a lens cap and for a photojournalist that could be the difference between getting a photo or missing it while you fumble with the lens cap.
How so? They aren't better if they're broken, right? I'm not criticiizing B+W filters - check my lenses and you'll see I like them. But this Hoya filter is a different animal. If you're shooting outdoors a lot this might be a better choice. Plus, I expect it would be very, very difficult to really spot any difference in image quality between this Hoya and a B+W filter.
So I got the UV and CirPL filters for about $150 new as a combo for my Canon HFS10. I think that is a good price. Anyway. I tried them out together stacked on the same camera. The image is spectacular. According to others, the Hoya HD series filters are apparently the best on the market albeit pricey. Thanks for turning me on to Hoya HD.
After seeing this video... I actually replaced all the filters on all my lenses to Hoya HD... worth the peace of mind that:
1. the front my lenses are protected better, and
2. the Hoya HD's actually don't degrade image quality of expensive lenses.
Kudos to Tokina engineers.

Just opened my camera bag and the filter was shattered. Not sure what had happened but the camera bag must have hit something.

Haha, ok But is the effect the same as the HD?
Saggmos95 1 year ago
@Saggmos95 IIRC, there is a HD CPL filter however.

I agree, I'd like to see him smash a 30kg mallet on that filter.

B+W the best.
I don't need glass that is bulletproof. As I don't bang my camera stuff like that.
My B+W never pops out from its frame like my HOYA. That's all I need.

Try what he did on the same corner with whatever filter you're using now.

i have b+w filters and nothing beats the b+w quality they are brass mount, top quality and top image quality, like the hoya HD series.
Visit the-digital-picture and see the review on bw filters...
I believe the hoya HD filters are good too but i just like B+W better...
By tha way that hd filter is tough damn
