  • I find it funny that we also have giant dog species, but they are all domesticated. Like there aren't any giant wild dogs that can't be tamed. Wolves are wild, but they are nowhere near the size of a Saint Bernard or a Mastiff, if you get my meaning.

  • So glad Narla has found a wonderful home, at BCR! Awesome!!

  • narla is a true lady, full of class and beauty. bless you for rescuing her

  • @mal8881 That's a good question and believe they hand over their license so they are unable to obtain another animal. Narla is doing great, very chatty and "friendly" cougar :)

  • That's one mellow cougar!!

  • She's so sweet! Oh and I have a question for you guys. Do any of the big cats like being pet in anyway? I've heard most of them dislike being touched period, and I wouldn't try to anyway. (even though I would love to just touch one XD) Anyway I was just curious if maybe while you guys fed them you petted them every once in a while.

  • @dragonsissiy Hi, nope we don't have any contact with our cats, I'm sure there are a few who would like a scratch behind their ear but these animals are wild and unpredictable they can change so suddenly and you could then be missing a hand!

  • @BigCatRescue I know, that's why I wouldn't try to touch one anyway. XD But thanks for answering my question!

  • The Owner had Narla for 12 years, well taken care of. When the widow could no longer keep her home/farm after her husband passed she contacted Big Cat Rescue to see if they had an opening for Narla. She didn't sign "the contract' until the health certificate was issued for Narla. BCR keeps misrepresenting this so called "Rescue". Please stop printing and saying lies BCR

  • She so pretty and healthy looking for 13. So cool of you to rescue her and drive all that way.

  • i am so happy that they Rescued here:D

  • I was horrified to learn that so many states actually allow people to own these large cats. Thank you for rescuing them.

  • how stupid of people to keep such animals

  • Nala is such a cute big cat

  • Thank you for rescuing Narla from what would have only gotten worse had she stayed in RI. She looks healthy and happy stretching out and playing. It's great she's in Tampa now, living the lush life! Thanks again for all your efforts, AND for sharing the big cats with us.

  • Narla acts likes she's used to getting petted. (;^)

  • Hmmm. Methinks BCR got scammed. Narla is no lion. She's an overgrown

domestic kitty. I mean, look at that face! Those eyes! Not a bit of

wild in that cat. She's a sweetheart!

But you can keep her. I wouldn't want her in my backyard. (;^) Too much poo.

  • Many people who have no experience around these cats think they're just overgrown kitties, but this couldn't be further from the truth! Narla is absolutely still a wild animal and if she felt like attacking you she would.

  • @BigCatRescue Problem is, she probably does not feel like attacking someone. Hell, If another person felt like attacking you... They would!

  • xD eating a spikey plant. :P

  • ooh, what a beautiful cat!!! How old was Narla when you rescued her? She looked pretty young when she was in the carrier.

  • Narla was 13 years old, she's only been at BCR for around 3 months now, thanks for watching :)

  • Big cats need big spaces, big spaces are not offered by 99.9% of house owners. Better keep them in the zoo or wildlife parks if you want to preserve em.

This one looks absolutely beatiful by the way!

  • I think the cougars are felines that are most similar to cats: they purr, eat plants and have the same type of head, eyes ... I love cougars !

  • @Meghann25 they are genetically close to domestic cats in comparison to the larger roaring cats. still, they are all cats.

  • that lion at 1:45 looks pissed lol

  • i love cougars! they are such stunning creatures! :D i wish i could keep one but i understand that they belong in freedom :(

  • What a beautiful cat!!Im glad she was rescued and taken out of an unfortunate situation!

  • I find it surprising when people keep cougars as pets, more so than other large cats. I've seen them in the wild while I was hiking, fishing, hunting, rock climbing, gold panning etc. And they are cool but scary. I've been stalked by one or two. Today I can't look in their eyes without feeling a little fear. They deserve respect and freedom.

  • Her former owners sounded like good people I am glad they turned her over to you guys..

domestic cats can be a lot of work I can't imagine feeding all your rescues let alone the vet bills God bless you guys for all you do for these beautiful creatures!

  • She's really pretty and seems really happy now. GREAT JOB AS ALWAYS GUYS!

  • @Brodiz THANKS!

  • My other question is what is BCR's Hurricane plan if an Hurricane should come right toward you? Will you move the cats, keep them where they are, or do you have another plan? I saw on animal planet one Zoo that had to move animals (big cats included) due to three hurricanes..what is our plan?

  • @equarg Good question, all our cats have steel reinforced concrete dens and all the smaller enclosures have roofs and our cages are design circular so they act like trampolines if anything fell on them like trees they absorb the impact and keep their integrity. Our larger "open air" enclosures have smaller areas called lockouts with the same dens, this is where we feed the cats so we can easily feed them and close the larger section off to them.

  • @equarg we are lucky and haven't had any serious category 5 hurricanes come through, we're good up to a cat 4. If we decided we were gonna get hit by a cat 5 we can evacuate our animals by feeding them in their lockouts, closing the doors down behind them and detaching these small cube cages from the main enclosure. We have flatbed trucks on stand by and we load them up and away we go. This can all be done without the use of drugs which means less stress on the cats! :)

  • I agree big cats make BAD pets. You need to talk to a man who owned (passed away at 16 years) cougar called Brandy. He apparently loved this cougar and was even allowed to take her to several restaurants, stores, and other public places. We sent a few messages and it was apparent that this cougar was a real Omega animal (circus trainers love these ones) She was around small cats, dogs, and traveled with this man. I still think this man was lucky nothing happened.

  • @equarg I agree he's definitely lucky, these animals never lose their wild instincts and if the cougar decided to go after one of those cats or dogs and he got in the way...

  • wow what a beautiful cat i hope she has a long and happy life:)

  • what a bueautiful animal i hope she has a long and happy life:)

  • She is beautiful! I wanna hug her (well you know what I mean, kind of...)

  • Keep up the good work!!!!

  • I live in Rhode Island, being a small state, news travels fast along the whole state. I heard about a cougar being in my neighborhood. I thought it was a joke. These big cats don't belong as pets. I'm glad you were able to save her! Next time I hear a rumor like this, I'll take it a bit more seriously next time.

  • @CatoMagumo You'd be surprised at how many cats are being kept as "pets" in the USA, for every lion and tiger you see in a zoo there are 20 in backyards! This definitely needs to change, thanks for watching!

  • i hate people sometimes, y would u take in an exotic cat???? they r NOT house cats

  • That is an absolutely beautiful big cat. I love cougars.

  • thats a great animal

  • shes pretty

  • More rescue videos!

  • Narla es hermosa y se ve muy saludable !!!!

y como siempre, ustedes hacen un excelente trabajo para protejer a estos maravillosos animales...

    Blessings !!

  • out of all the big cats, it always seemed to me that cougars were the most tempermental....this one is VERY relaxed

  • I'm a huge animal lover, been so all my life. When I was young I looked at large animals like cougars and said, "I want one!" But now I'm at at an age that I realize that just because I think an animal is beautiful, it doesn't mean it should come home with me. It's a shame people take on pets like cougars as a "trophy" pet, not really considering what they're doing to the animal, or to themselves. These animals are meant to be admired from afar, not from inside a cage in your backyard =/

  • 2- and, i agree that house cats can be snotty! so imagine a cougar gettin pissed off in yer house!! good bye to youre face! and balls!! OUCH!!

  • if a person is rich and has researched his cat of choice, and can afford proper facilities to house a large cat, fine. But no way should a regular dude get a large cat and keep it in a tiny pen. thats cruel.

  • @acerb45666555 No matter how you look at it, if you can afford it or not, we don't believe these cats belong in cages full stop. They roam hundreds of square miles in the wild no enclosure can replicate that, what do you think?

  • Wow 13 years in that cage would be even bad for a medium sized dog never mind a big cat like this. Still as you said you must have seen far worse enclosures.

Whatever her past, she looks to be pretty contented now.

Another job well done for BCR

  • have u ever gotten a pregnant cat before?

  • @austinhh132 No we've never rescued a pregnant cat before :)

  • what! you guys went to rhode island I live there! I wish I new I would have made you take me with you guys! it would be an extremely amazing privilege to work with all of you and the animals!

  • Great job!

  • I live in Rhode Island and remember seeing this on the news and have actually seen this cat in person in passing. When they said it was being taken to Florida I instantly hoped it was going to you guys. Awesome story.

  • @dirk0389 We're glad Narla is living at BCR she could have fallen into the wrong hands.

  • At least she didn't live a horrible life like so many other cats have (and continue to live,)

Plus, now she has a beautiful home at BCR. ;D

  • So she was a pet? That explains the good manners :) She maybe one of the rare BCR cats to let herself pet. Good job once again!

  • @Zblj1987 She may seem "friendly" but this can change very fast, we never have any contact with our cats at BCR, it's way too dangerous!

  • Breaks my heart, but thank you for BCR!

  • Hey Chris! Nice to see you in one of BCR's vids!! Narla is beautiful and looks well fed. Long and happy life to Narla and more kudos to BCR!!! Keep posting the vids - we never get tired of seeing the Big Cats!

  • i saw a cougar near my house and almost shat myself!

  • It depends what state you live in, but you're right, having the freedom to do what you want is nice, but you have to draw the line somewhere especially when so many people are attacked and killed by these cats each year.

  • For one more time a super excellent video and of course five stars . ***** stars and keep going , you are the best .

  • Felines are such good-looking creatures. ~__~ All of them don't seem to have an ugly angle.

  • Another great rescue! :-)

  • Aww... Narla's so cute~ Happy she has a new home! If I was a cat, I'd wish to be a cub in BCR XD but that means you guys will have to care for more cats, buy food which is expensive and make sure that the others are taken care of so I'd rather be a human than cause trouble. Lol Haha!

  • Hey... I live in Rhode Island! -feels special-

  • Well ive seen cougars as very happy pets, living inside the house and you can see this baby is also very calm and needs cudling :) look up "cougar brandy" at youtube:)

  • This may be true of a few, until the day they decide they don't want to be cuddled and petted then they attack you, they never lose those wild instincts and the people who own these cats are risking their safety, others safety and the animals well being.

  • @RomanSedlak Yeah, right. I have a 17 lbs house cat. There are times when she's had enough attention and swipes at you, or decides she wants to play "attack the foot under the blanket". She's 17 years old and has only gotten more crotchety with age. Imagine what happens when a 150 lbs cat with teeth the size of my cat's head gets mad. We've all seen what happens when domesticatd cats get upset. Now multiply that by about 10 for a wild cat and you can imagine the problems it would cause.

  • She is beautiful...kudos to you guys for another rescue for these gorgeous cats

  • why cant people just get a dog?

  • Exactly! Animals that want attention and want to play! We wish everybody just stuck with domestic pets! :)

  • Big cats were never ment to be pets so...

  • hurr hurr hurr grrrrrrr

  • Good to know she is safe and seems "happy" sad to think the animal wasted away for 13 years and seemingly could not have ever enjoyed the life she was living hopefully the remainder of her life will be fantastic, she deserves that.

  • What happen to Scott? Is he still working for BCR?

  • He left to pursue his filming career, don't worry I'm sure you'll be seeing more of him in the future!

  • Wow!

  • beautiful cat, the people at BCR are great also.

  • well the good thing is as horrible it was to do, she was taken care of, unlike so many that arent. im glad she is in good hands, and where its warmer, yes the winter up here can be brutal.....now thanks to you the 'KITTY' is in good hands,as much as i would love to have one myself, i also have the common sense to know better....good luck NARLA....

  • :D You rescued her on my birthday! AND I go to the University of Houston, whose mascot is the cougar. I'll think of her as my birthday cat.

Always great to see the people at BCR making life better for yet another big cat. Keep it up, guys!

  • People can be so selfish to think an animal like that can be a pet for them to look at.

  • I wish it was illegal to own wild cats in all states.

I love you guys, for doing what you do.

saving and giving these Animals a chance to have a more free and comfortable life.

  • Thank you, despite the body language of a domestic cat, I know these cats are wild. It is still difficult for me too see these cats as wild, but I know they are. Gorgeous is a perfect word to describe them. Amazing to look at.

  • I cannot describe how proud and delighted I feel when I watch your videos! This one was so finely edited and your work towards this indescribably beautiful species is nothing less than amazing. I truly have no words to thank you for your immense contribution to protecting this beautiful species. Not only do you rescue those cats in need but you raise awareness in all of us, who are bound to learn a bit more than we already know about them. I never knew cats cannot purr! This cougar is BEAUTIFUL!

  • @crimsonbutterflies Thanks for watching, our supporters enable us to do these rescues!

  • How common is it for cougars to eat domestic cats?

Being retired now we spend months on end wilderness camping on Vancouver Island in prime cougar habitat.

The cat isn't allowed out at night anyway.

  • I'm in Vancouver and there tends to be a lot of problems with Cougars on the Island because people are encroaching on their territory. Cougars have been known to attack people and pets. I don't know if it's because they want to eat them or if they just get too close. I don't let my cats out because of the coyotes in the area will eat them.

  • your new pod cast host talks so proper. keep up the great work bcr.

  • @briczar22 I know, no losing that twang :)

  • <3 <3 <3

  • So glad you got the poor cat out of that woman's hands. I know several people on youtube who promote owning big cat's as pets and I am always appalled that they treat them as pets rather then a wild animal. Regardless if they seem well taken care of or not.

  • Awesome video :)

  • I understand that wild animals are not pets and dangerous why can't other people i mean yeah having a pet white tiger would be bad ass but also dangerous so NO

  • aww what a cutie...its too bad that people just dont seem to realize that wild animals do not make good pets.people often buy these animals young and dont realize what that wild animals have special needs..keep up the good work and the educating : )

  • OMG! Chris, you're finally CO-STARRING in one of your videos! We used to live in CT, right next to Rhode Island, I wouldn't wish those bitter winters on an animal who's not adapted to it. We got to see Narla 2 days ago at last, what a beautiful girl! She even said hi to us! She looks very interested in the car trip, so calm, and looks happy nibbling on her grass. Nice job to all with the rescue AND the video!

  • I hope Narla has a happy life. 5***** for her.

  • @horse14t THANKS for sharing this splendid video with me my dear friend--i really enjoyed myself viewing it!!!

  • "You can legally own BIG CATS in over half of the USA!"

    That's insane. :-(((

  • What is even more messed up is anyone that either has had a domestic cat or has had a friend that has knows there are a good amount domestic cats that don't like people. Also even the domestics that don't mind people can cause enough mischief to the point where I have to ask why would anyone what make it that much bigger.

  • @maciolek1980 Yeah: domestic cats who are roaming the streets are better off. :-((

In your ideal Disney world I am sure, let's all throw them on the street. :-((

The only thing that people have to do is: THINK about the consequences of having a pet.

They are NOT disposables, and CAN live for 20 years or more.

If you don't WANT to take CARE of them that long, DON'T take any. ^^)

  • I think you misunderstood me. I don't feel domestic cats that are roaming the streets have better life then pets. There are some cats that never seem to find the right owner for them. Also all house cats do some silly thing like feel a need to try to sleep on your keyboard only at times when you want to use it or drink water from your glass when they have a full bowl of it.

  • @maciolek1980 : I misunderstood then. ;-)

Yep, they have a mind of their own. :-)

  • aw shes gorgeous! Great job with saving her, I wish people realized how dangerous it is to keep these wild animals in tiny cages. I'm glad shes safe now = )

  • Still, that cage WAS a pretty nice setup..... No excuse for the wild, though.

  • Yeah it was a decent set up and shes in good shape which means they cared about her, but still a cat that big that's wild will never be happy with being so confined. Whoever did own her though took good care of her and they definitely get props for that!

  • great video Chris! i hope this will teach anyone, everyone that wild animals especially big cats that they are wild and thrive being in the wilderness and not stuck in cages and on chains and forced to live in home without packs/prides.
