The planet has a metal core. That's why we have a magnetic field. It also generates heat, and gives the planet life, otherwise it would be a rock in space. You and other life would not exist. Everything is eventually consumed by the earth, you dopey twit. Recycling saves the mining companies money digging it out, and costs the consumer money to recycle. Where there's muck, there's money. My point about perpetuating the problem refers to how industry thinks (not I) because Industry only considers profit, and not lives. It goes to a 3rd world country and THEY are stuck with the problem. Actually it's MANY problems they are stuck with because those heavy metals get into THEIR eco-systems and the result has been birth defects and poisoning of the population from the water they drink. Yes!! I saw that video! It shows some companies who claim they properly recycle computer parts and computers and they ship it to somewhere in China in a VERY poor town. The people in that town use chemicals to get the gold out of the computer chips but its really harmful to their health.

Copper isn't a heavy metal doofus... and the amount of unsafe metals in electronics is minimal compared to all the plastic, foil, and chemicals used for insulation in the components, that can't get decomposed very easily.

When you recycle them they just get sent somewhere where they don't care about toxic fumes and some underpaid worker gets to take them apart and melt it down to recycle the compounds they consist off.

please please listen to this guy. For now, most (if not all) of our old computers end up being torn apart by families in rural China. Yes Europe and the US dump their stuff over there. Just type "Guiyu" in google to understand what really goes on. even just the pictures should ring some alarm signal.

If we recycle our stuff HERE, we wouldn't have to send it over THERE. benefitting all the RIGHT people.
