Excellent setup, I like everything I see. One question though, is there no retention device(s) for the tools up top, the miter saw, table saw, etc.? If I drove the streets here without something keeping them in place, they'd be on the floor for sure.
Ron, I just tore out my old trailer cabinets and started tape outlining for all plywood shelving. Don't you ever have jobs that you want to just run to in the truck? What do you do in that case? Just try to collect the tools you'll need?
Hi Ron, is the 7 head spindle for your blum minipress, the mkz1000? I can't tell if there is a different one for the electric/manual press as opposed to the pneumatic/automatic press. Keep posting videos, they are very valuable for those of us with less experience! - thanks, Jim
I cannot quote the model number, and the truck is currently on a job. My 7 spindle head is the same one used on the pneumatic model. My manual press is 2010 versions, which changed a bit from the 2009 version. The dealer gave me a plastic collar from the 2009 version so my 7 spindle head would fit. They did not charge me for it, so I am guessing if you bought a new press and old 7 spindle head, you will need that part.
Just saw your video, thanks for posting I will applying some of the lessons here to my own trailer. Couple of questions where did you get the white containers and how do you keep other items from falling off the shelf?
Work smart, don't work hard. The older I get, the more I find that being tidy and organized is a lot less work than fighting with mess and confusion all day. Obviously, you have the same philosophy. Judging by your tool selection, you do a lot of built-ins.
This video is a perfect display of the art inherent in carpentry (and in the skilled trades in general). Check out the documentary, The Tradesmen: Making an Art of Work. The film displays the skill, intellect, and art within the trades, but also discusses the decimation of America's skilled workforce.
The drawers are locked and tools put away before transport. Currently, I work alone, but when I had a crew they were pretty good as they saw me keeping everything organized. I also had two lead carpenters who were salary with bonuses based on profit. They were naturally motivated to keep costs down.
obviously with the amount of tools you have there are multiple people going in and out of it for tools all day. how long does it stay as clean and organized as it was in this video, my trailer can never stay organized no matter how much i tell my workers. also how do the drawers of your tool chest stay closed and items on your shelves stop from falling off when the trailer is moving
The Dewalt 735 planer is well built, easy to use, porduces excellent results, and has very good dust collection. At first I was disappointed as the blade dulled in a very short time. After trying and getting the same results with another set of blades, I purchased a carbide set. They are expensive, but worth the price. Without the carbide blades, I would give it low marks.
Just stumbled upon your videos...I really like the fact that you keep improving on your design based on what you have learned in the field! Thanks for sharing with the community! You are a true professional! Keep up the good work!
Nice rig...my 15 k in equipment plus trailer vanished one night. Set me back! Dewalt makes a gps with a camera to install on trailers. I will have that before I ever buy another trailer. Love your taste for quality. Keep up the good work
Yes, keeping the tools from being stolen is an issue. I use some basic precautions. First, I live in a small community and work within a 5-mile radius of my home. I have good locks for the door and a tongue lock. Whenever possible I back the trailer up to the garage door so that it cannot be opened without first getting into the house. Finally, if my gut grumbles, I don't leave the trailer on the job. Furthermore, I should have an alarm system. 22 years and no theft: knock on wood:)
None needed. In 10 years of using that trailer not a single tool fell. Maybe we have good roads.

Yes, the trailer set up worked well for me and my crew for over a decade. I actually had 3 trailer set ups.

Things stay in place just fine. I suppose if I turned the truck over it would be a mess.
Not sure which "White" containers you are referring to. If you mean the round clear containers: they are a commercial product called Viewtainers.
