This is the first tutorial of yours that I've seen. Will doubtless watch more. Some inspiring and intelligent techniques well-presented and well-explained. Great work
Peoples likes these tutorials and that but i don't your voice is annoying and you take way too long to get to the point :/, you can take people of their backgrounds in like 2 mins :)
Great tutorial! However, there's way too much high midtones in your voice, and virtually no bass at all, which makes it quite awful to listen to. Just a tip for future tutorials.
@Monstergurpal You can get a free 30-day legal trial of Photoshop from the Adobe Web site. If you're asking about pirated versions, all I can say is beware and that's not the right thing to do anyway.
@Monstergurpal get a subscription to a newsgroup, get grabit. goto altbinz.info and search photoshop cs5, select the item you want to download and goto create nzb, tada
@Monstergurpal if you are a student you can get a student edition with is about 10% the price of the full licence nad the program is full nothing is taken out of it, you can use it to learn.
Or you can buy Photoshop elements for less than 100 dollars I think!
@Monstergurpal Descargalo de prueba 30 dias en la pagina de adobe y luego descargas un crack por internet que te lo ponga como original eso es todo.. gratis
it's not only Photoshop, it's today's computers... PS is capable of doing it, i'm sure it would require lots of processing, because you have to include essential human characteristics as reasoning, looking at the picture in a subjective and abstract way as well as applying common sense to it, so it's a web of skills that we take for granted but they are really complex, of course PS can do a lot of work we thought it would be impossible, like Context Aware Fill, or Stitching Pics (pan)
Maybe and maybe not. Like I said it doesn't work with all images. If your bride has a white dress and the background is white, this particular technique won't work.
Sure use the lasso if you see this as too complicated. It is creating a more accurate selection than is attainable with the lasso. Plus there's never just ONE way to do something. I try to cover ALL things available in Photoshop in my vids. This helps folks understand concepts and function and goes a bit deeper than just the lasso tool.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
why do you complicate things?you could select just the girl with the lasso tool, invert area and paint everything in blue,or even more..,take the girl-layer from its context and put it in other picture!it works just perfect!
Sure, there may by other ways to do something, but there is no one answer to all situations. Thanks photoshopmama for a very informative tutorial. I would say an extraction would be much better than a lasso, but how would you get the shadows? How does you lasso get the shadows?
I contacted Dave and understandably he is not going to release his image. Surely you can find a similar one with a model on a white backdrop to experiment with this on your own.

Mahalo Mama for another informative vid...always a pleasure to view your tuts. Thanks for taking the time to make these as I know how long they can take! I will try this one for sure!
Like anything...if you do it enough times it becomes second nature. Using it and teaching it is repetition. Like cooking...I don't use recipes, once you've got the basics down you can let your creativity infuse the basics to create a variety of good eats! However...baking is another story...I don't do that enough and so I do rely on recipes.
I use Illustrator off and on, but I'm not enough of an expert in that software...not like Photoshop. Photoshop gets jealous if I spend too much time in any other software.
It sounds like your voice is auto tuned lol but best tut :))

Shan,
Thank you for an outstanding tut. Question for you: I get banding when
applying a gradient over a white background slip layer. Is there a fix for this?
cruizin31 1 year ago
@cruizin31 Yes add a bit of Filter>Noise - Monochromatic to a pixel based layer that has the gradient on it.
