  • Oh, another thing....you may not know it..but they know everything you're saying...some don't think so...they do...at least my brother does....my brother also has echolalia..and he will repeat things over and over..he will repeat things he heart somebody at his home say weeks later or days later..it's kinda funny because you always know what people are saying.

  • @Lynnieburd Very true...I sometimes forget this and it's just a terrible habit some parents of non verbal autistics get, you get so used to your child being in his own world and never speaking you sometimes forget to talk TO them and give them encouraging words, and not to talk too much about them as if they weren't there. I do remind myself to talk to him quite a bit though, and do when cameras aren't rolling...I even tell him I'm sorry I was talking like you weren't there...he laughed!

  • heheheheh he's so cute....i like the end when he's in the jacuzzi..my brother also loves the jacuzzi and water.....he loves touching water, also goes into laughing fits too. it's so funny when he laughs....But he's a little different, he talks a little with stuff he wants. but he refers to himself as he because he always hears people say ''he'' as in'' he has to go to the bathroom'' so if he has to go the bathroom he'll say ''he has to go to the bathroom'' lol. he also swims underwater !

  • I have so much respect for you for putting this out there! A lot of the views of Autism in the media are often romanticized and they often don't show aspects such as these. I've been working with children and adults with moderate to severe disabilities for 4 years, so I wish you the best of luck with everything! You have a BEAUTIFUL son, don't ever let anyone tell you otherwise.

  • yeah when he s in the pool hes calm, relaxed. and when he starts laughing I cried. you see he opens up and has a great moment

  • I love when he laughs. It makes my heart smile. I'm sure it's rare for you to hear it... <3

  • I really impressed for what you did to your lovely son. I am working at an autism kids center as volunteer every Sat, and plan to develop my career in special education field for those kids who have special needs. I believe we can make the world better for those angels just if we give a try. Keep going and you won't be alone in this! Wish you all have a happy 2012!

  • GOD BLESS YOU HONEY AND YOUR BEAUTIFUL FAMILY I TOO HAVE A 16 YR OLD SON SEVERELY AUTISTIC , MOOD DISORDERS ,SEIZURES, ADHD AND OMG THE TRIALS AND TRIBULATIONS WE GO THROUGH AS A FAMILY NO ONE CAN TRULY UNDERSTAND UNTIL THEY ARE TOUCHED BY SOMEONE WITH AUTISM MY THOUGHTS ANND PRAYERS ARE ALWAYS WITH THE FAMILIES THAT AUTISM HAS AFFECTED . THE ROAD IS LONG AND TREACHEROUS BUT I WOULDNT TRADE MY SON FOR ANYTHING IN THE WORLD HE IS MY HERO AND MY ANGEL HES TAUGHT ME WHAT UNCONDITIONAL LOVE IS

  • My little brother has autism and he hits himself too. He cant feel certian stuff because he has a sensetivity thing where he can only feel some things. Your son looks like a handful. My brother is too. He hits his teachers at school and now he only goes half days. I hope you are alll good. :)

  • You obviously love your son very much and are doing a great job with him! I am also the mother of a severely autistic son who is 16. It is tough and heart wrenching at times but you truly have to cherish those happy moments.

  • This almost brought tears to my eyes.............

  • what a handsome boy

  • @refi68 that's what I was thinking too, very handsome young man

  • He reminds me of an adult with Angelman Synrome..especially at the end of the video, his laughter and love for water is classic Angelman Syndrome!! Even the sound of his laugh!! I know hes a handful, you are doing an awesome job, thanks for sharing your videos!

  • @Kevysmom04 Genetic testing has ruled out Angelman's syndrome, as well as it's sister disorder: "prader will syndrome." James does not have these syndromes. Many children with these syndromes however can act autistic like...

  • @kgaccount He also does not have Fragile X, which is a commonly mistaken for autism.

  • He loves the water! :)

  • I wonder what Jamey would have done if you fell into the pool.

  • My 10 year old daughter has severe autism. She also has a seizure disorder. I see that you use music therapy to make him feel better. What kinds of music works best to calm him?

  • @fritz3307 Soft classical. Mozart, vilvaldi, chopin, etc....also Soft jazz..

  • He looks so normal. It's like if they found what was torturing his brain he could just come out of it.

There are so many examples of genetic anomalies that can be treated with diet...PKU being one of the most striking.

Maybe if "Autism Speaks for only those with voices and high IQ's" wasn't so caught up with itself...

I'm sorry...I wish I knew the answer. The laughter was beautiful.

  • He's such a handsome young man. I have a mildly autistic child and I was feeling sorry for myself, until seeing your video. God bless you and your family.

  • @c0decub,, it's FlyLeaf .. Music at the first of the vid. He seemed to do better , @kgaccount.

  • @kgaccount Happy to see Jamey doing better! My son loves water too. Try a garden hose set to "rain". I think it's the patterns the water makes that's so attracting.

  • relieved to know that he is doing better and laughing more... i can only imagine the joy you and your family feels when that happens... thank you for being a source of valuable information and hope that others and Jamie can benefit more from what you're doing... :)

  • Thank you for this look at like you said - the good, the bad, and the better. It really showcases how complex severe Autism is. I have to say, my favourite part of this video was Jamey's laugh...so infectious. And that belly laugh at the end?! You couldn't help but smile and laugh along with him.

    God Bless you all,

    *Hugs*

  • Hey Jamey, glad to see you again! Hope you're doing well buddy and know you are always in our thoughts!

  • You are an amazing mum and Jamey is amazing :) I hope he is doing well

  • Good to hear Jamey laugh like that, made my day and warmed my heart. Today I will also be clinically tested for autism for the 3rd time. Best Wishes to your family and of course to Jamey!!!

  • tHANK YOU JAMEY AND ALSO TO YOUR MOM FOR SHARING THIS VDEIO . LOVE U JAMEY . I LIKE BEING IN THE SWIMMING POOL TOO.. WATER IN POOL IS SOOTHING TO ME

  • Hello I would like to thank you very much for posting these videos

that you have done. I find it very interesting and intriguing. Would

you be able to tell me about the Incontenance products that you use for your son and any tips that you would have on Incontenance and autism. Would you be able to post a video or e-mail me some information. Thank you for your help.

  • Very good video documentation of your son Jamey's life as a severe autistic. As a mild autistic with Asperger's, I am doing ok. But, I had "pent-up" cognitive overload to deal with the last few days, & needed a lot more "sensory down time"/napping, mute, & lying in my bed, hugging my plush friends & stimming using baby rattles. Also been having a bit more cerebral palsy neuromuscular aching/fatigue bilaterally in both my legs.

  • AWWWW Jamie Realy LOVES the Pool doesnt he=) it was sooo sweet when he was Laughing, Love his Laugh! hope you have a Great Spring/ Summer

  • thanks for sharing! I love your videoes! Your son is adorable...

  • Was he just patting the dog?

  • i think anyone working with autistic people needs to watch your videos. i really respect you for being able to show the world what autism is really like

  • Does anyone know of a place in southern california to volunteer my time to help autistic people or any people with special needs.

  • I was wondering how you all were doing. Is this a recent vid? That's the most I've ever seen James laugh. It was beautiful.

  • I have to admire your courage and persistence. A friend of mine has a son with much milder autism, and even that is hard. He's a wonderful kid, but you can see even the strain on her at times

  • That laugh he does in the pool almost makes him sound normal. Hard to describe, but it does.

  • thank you for sharing this video. take care

  • I began video taping my autistic son because I got tired of relying on charities, bureacracies, foundations and organizations tripped up in red tape. I wanted to see reality. I wanted to see other children like my son and could NEVER find them on the internet , in books, or on TV, movies or videos. So, my hope is that others with children with severe autism and self injurious behavior and/or seizures will know they have someone to relate to. They aren't alone in this.

  • @kgaccount nobody knows what it is like until you have an autistic son. you are so right about all the so called experts they don't have a clue. I am so glad you have these videos of Jamey. that is the real world of autism. by the way, loved his laughter, he is so handsome. reminds me of my son. he is 21 and autistic.

  • @kgaccount And I still have yet (after months of searching) to find any videos that even come close to the honesty you show here. It's so frustrating, people need to see kids/adults with LFA and MFA so they know the challenges parents face and fight against the budget cuts!

  • The hot tub must really relax him. I know it relaxes me.

  • can you set this up to be played on mobile also. Alot of james' subbies watch his videos on our smart phones. Thanks hun! -Jenn /Jr

  • @hvyweight20 Just did it! So sorry, didn't realize I hadn't checked that box..

  • Music video?

  • @c0decub No, it's an educational video promoting autism awareness through creative expression and realism
