  • he sounds like Flea from the Chili Peppers

  • Expensive cables are the homeopathy of the electronics market. 100% placebo.

  • This guy sounds like Grand Nagus Zek from DS9

  • I paid $2.40ea, for my 4 hdmi cables and they checkout FINE. Bandwidth up to 340 mhz ( 10.2 Gbps ) Deep colour 10 bit 12bit and 3*16 bit ( 48 bit RGB or YCbCr ) XV colour. 480i to 4k x 2k . Support for TrueHD & DTS -HD . Works with all versions of HDMI. They did test these and they did very well against Monster. Length seems to have an effect so sometimes a better cable may be needed.

  • Rocketfish Is all I buy

Rocketfish HDMI heads look better too

  • @FourthBattalion Because friends and family are behind your television "oooing" and "awing" at your HDMI head...

  • He said it, the more data you get from A to B the better you got, means better HDMI cables will perform better than cheap ones. And I agree, I tested it.

  • your paying for the length really.

  • That's why I get Monster cables. I don't want to take the risk of buying a poorly made cable. Some people say well it's all digital it will work or wont. Test machines and videos has proven that it does have a med point of kinda working with ghosting and snow. So that is not true from other people saying that it will work or not work.

  • My instrument cables are made here locally in England and it was cheaper than the overpriced made in China crap that Monstercables make. People will use them because famous artists like Slash are on the payroll..

  • i got mine off ebay for 3 bucks brand new 6 ft. tested with my friend's 60 buck cable. same shit. lol.

  • Comment removed

  • lolololo my friend bought a 229 dollar audioquest 3 foot cable. I bought mines for 96 cents on monoprice!!! And it's gold plated while his isn't!

  • what if you cut the cable?

  • the speaker sounds like flea from the chili peppers haha

  • he speaks the truth!

  • And there you go. Point A to point B. DATA is just that. 0s and 1s...

  • @dtsmucker Nope. All this here is digital, but the more data the better digital picture! Is that so hard to understand? Like, lets say you shoot a pic with your digital camera, save it 1M and save it 7M, is it the same??? Hell fucking no.. 7M has a lot more 0's and 1's means more detail means better fucking picture..

  • @DeniJasmina? I don't know were to start...So, yeah you're right... I was wrong....

Do us a favour and do some reading, ie books, not wikibraindead, but books..written by real humans and not argumentative 12 year olds.....

  • @dtsmucker lol ok I like your reply, thumbs up! Some people don't even see the difference between SD and HD so yeah..

  • iight. i have windows media center that shows and records tv, but it only shows instandard def. so what this cable does is give me HD so i can watch and record with a happage hd pvr?

  • i have a 60 dollar HDMI And A 20 HDMI cable they look excly the same

  • I bought a cheap HDMI cable works the same picture quality as my friend 100$ HDMI cable works fine looks like i got the better end :P

  • Of course he is, this is absolutely true. Why do you reject an argument without coming with a counter argument yourself? There is no real difference, if you loose any 1s or 0s, your picture is black. If there's picture on the screen, then all 1s and 0s are transferred.

  • people monoprice is nothing go to firefold they have the good deals just picked up 3 6ft hdmi's gold plated 1.3 with shipping for $16 cables were 3.49 each

  • Does anyone know anything about HDMI cables that have a ferrite core at each end of the cable and what that's for? I just ordered a pair for my new 50" plasma coming next week and not sure if I ordered the right ones.

  • I don't know, but I ordered a cheap 25 foot ferrie for my uncle and it works fine on his 1080p

  • Thanks K9feces, I ordered mine from monoprice too, and I'm pretty sure they'll be ok.

  • LOL FAIL.

  • Neil Patrick Harris

  • I have over a dozen friends that I recommended Monoprice HDMI cable to. They all have had wonderful results with a $10 2meter cable!

  • he's exactly right, its a digital connection not analog so the colors etc will be the same on any hdmi cable, I have several $8 mononprice cables and they all work great

  • How much do they cost

  • not much

  • what a bell i bought oine for a tenner works perfectly doesnt do anything bad like he says infact its better than my friends one and they aid 35 pound for theres losers lol

  • lol what nubs!

  • i had a problem when i tried to take out my hdmi cable out of my tv. i was blind sighted when i tried to take it out and accidently 'almost pulled the head off' the cable. you know, the bronze metal part that goes into the tv. it was pulled out about 1mm out of the end. it doesnt work. no warrenty when i bought it. im hoping i can go somewhere to repair it or something! without paying for another $100. anyone have any suggestions what i can do?

  • is it ur tv or cable? buy another cable for like £ or $9

  • ...which is y I got a $20 HDMI cable

  • o ya my hdmi on my ps3 has some protection it's like copper brass

  • ugggg that report on cbc about monster cable was crap. u kno y cause when they tested the cables they used dvd players(480p) and digital cable(1080i). They didn't use bluray players 4 the test. If they would've used a 1080p source they would've seen a difference.

theyre ur fuckin' cbc report is put to shame by knowlegde of HD. Monster cable haters need to watch video AGAIN and listen at what the engineer SAYS at 7:03. that's y all the cables performed the same.

  • Have you ever compared two TV's with one using a $2 HDMI cable and the other using a $150 monster cable? They're both show the exact same picture quality.

  • true that

  • won't it last longer?

  • well if u talk of durability in a cable... doesnt seem so important, its not that you gonna put it against a knife or something lol... what does really matter is the quality.

Oh by the way any cable must have a basic protection, so you will never see a HDMI with no plastic or cover :D:D:D

  • The long and short of it is that there are some substandard HDMI cables out there, but if you buy one which passes data correctly, you will get no data loss, therefore a perfect picture. You don't need to pay $300 for an over marketed 'feel good' solution for this to happen.

  • But, if you're buying an HDTV that costs more than $10K, you'd want that $300 HDMI cable. That cable probably isn't gonna benefit a Vizio or Samsung HDTV, but you'd be able to tell on a really high-end HDTV. I'd say the most you should ever spend on an HDMI cable is no more than $150 or so. Also, IXOS, the HDMI and audio connections we have, is better than Monster, so I'd get IXOS if you can find it.

  • beaconpie2112

You can't sell an HDMI cable unless it follows the HDMI trademark and logo guidelines. If it has the logo it works.

You're telling people to pay no more than $150? I say pay no more than $10. At monoprice you can get cables even CHEAPER.

  • There comes into play the quality of the cable that makes the sound and video quality better. Good quality cables should have gold-plated connectors to prevent corrosion, and oxygen-free copper that has less impurities, which allows electricity to flow through easier. This does come at a cost, though; gold isn't cheap and neither is copper during these times, especially if it's pure.

But then again, if you don't want to spend the money on good cables, then don't (sorry if I sound rude).

  • baconpie2112:

First of all stop reading the marketing on the back packaging of your Monster cables.

What you're talking about does not apply to DIGITAL SIGNALS. A digital signal either works or it doesn't. You can't get a better or worse picture/sound from a signal signal, AND THAT'S THE POINT! It's all or nothing.

But then again, a fool and his money are soon parted (sorry if I sounds rude).

  • First of all, I don't use Monster. I use IXOS. I know a SERIOUS audiophile that owns a stereo system worth about $25,000, and he says cables make a big difference.

A digital signal still has to travel through something, whether it be some kind of metal or fiber-optic cable, and the quality of material it goes through still will dictate the video/audio quality. You also have to consider how the cable will hold up; will it fall apart eventually?

Oh by the way, what do you think of Bose?

  • baconpie2112:

I'm not going to explain the same thing to you over and over again. You sound convinced that digital and analog signals work the same way. There is no comparison!

Though judging by the comments it sounds like others around here have a good head on their shoulders. I'm not wasting my time with you any longer. But feel free to continue wasting your money on cables you don't need. ;]

  • baconpie, its like this. Digital signals are binary 1s and 0s. Either on or Off. Not 0.2, -1, slightly fuzzy, or any other Monster-style hypey B.S. At short lengths in particular, there is no difference between $10 HDMI cables and $300 HDMI cables. Its like saying MP3s sound better cause you bought a gold plated SATA cable to hook up the drive. Now there's an idea. Some morons will buy it :-)

  • @PropellerBusted , so what you are saying is digital is perfect? no matter what digital is 100% perfect all of the time?

  • CBC did a story on this where they bought a $260 cable & a $12 cable & used two different test groups, both groups didn't see or hear ANY difference, they even took them to a lab which confirmed you get the exact same signal and quality from both cables.. Think about it, you are taking a signal from one source and using a cable to transmit the ones and zeros, a cable cannot increase that signal or make the signal flow faster.. You might as well start buying EVERYTHING with gold plating.

  • very funny you say that gold plated. cause monoprice has gold plated cables for 13 dollars. and thats what custom installers use and thats the store they buy from. i have friends with monster cables and after i bought my two hdmi cables i had one come over and see the difference. THERE WASNT ONE between there cables and mine. ACTUALLY they were pissed they spent so much money for no reason.

  • monoprice is awesome, I get the cheap prices I used to get on amazon for cables and now I get great quality too

  • Just cause you don't have it that is why your are saying that

  • hey psp7677:it's not that he does not have it it could be cause he cant afford an hdtv so that mean no hdmi for him :)

  • hahahahahhahaah lol but can i ask you tv experts a question i have a 1080i hdtv i got a ps3 and my ps3 is on default screen ting so its on 720p i cant change with the default ps3 cable do i need to buy a hdmi cable is it best for my hdtv 1080i ??? can i have a comment of you or other ppl soon please so i can buy it fast

  • can you tell me what would you say the percentage of improvement is hdmi over component cable for sat. tv on hdtv?

  • Shielding, doesn't or shouldn't matter since it's DIGITAL meaning 1's and 0's that's it, either it works or it don't.

Shielding is important when using analog connections such as component, because "noise" from surrounding electronics can interfere even inside the cable.

On HDMI it does not really matter as I stated above.

Quality of the soldering and wire's are more important though.

  • HDMI cables are expensive because final consumer is cheated by marketing. I see a 15 meter HDMI cable at 899USD!!!! wow!! you can buy a DVD player with 19 USD with lot of macro / micro electronics, advanced electronics, laser and optical technology and the cable can cost you 10 times or more this price! this is stupid!

  • Ghosting on a digital signal. I love it! WRONG!

  • Ghosting-No

Screen freezes, dropouts, "sparkling" images, and don't forget, possibly no image at all at some point(probably during Game 7 of this years World Series)a big YES!

The later occurs when digital AV signals are sent over cheap/poorly constructed HDMI cable assemblies.

The key word here is assemblies. The quality of the physical connection made to the connector at each end, to the copper and shielding, is key.

Bottom Line: $10/ft and up--paying for gimmicks. $1/foot--No Way Jose
