Solve White Screen of the Death in Acer Laptops

@usedconsol Hey man I am having the same prolem right now. I figured out that the wire on our computer is right behind where the acer logo is on the monitor. Push on that and it works for a little bit.

Worked on 5920G 8600GTm - The plug is a bit different i just had to pull outside a bit and push back in and worked.

So glad to have found this video. It has saved me several weeks and a whole lot of stress. All I really had to do for the white screen of death on my Acer Aspire 5730 was reseat the LCD cable. But I put the snippet of napkin in place in case changing the display's angle unseats my cable.

I cannot express how much I am very thankful for this fix. I have been suffering with my laptop's white screen of death since 2006! No money to buy a new one till now. If only I'd found this link earlier, it would have saved me thousands of hours of work already. THANK YOU! I just have some comments though:

1. Acer laptops are not sturdy, they are cheap but the quality suffers.

2. With over 30K pageviews, it must be an inherent Acer design flaw.. they should have recalled these laptops!

Its More Simple Than That, The White Screen usually happens for laptops because when you Shut Down, you also close the lid before you shut down. Doing so tampers with how the Monitor Switches Off. When Shutting down, remember Wait until its completly off before you close the Lid. " Heres How To Fix It " Keep your Finger on The On Button for 30 Seconds when your Laptop is off. Then Let Go of the On Button for it to start up.

Sorted this same problem out myself.

Loose connector going into the video card had slightly popped out , on the cable from the inverter.

This needed pushing back in as it keeps coming out easily, hence the peice of paper in this video holding the connctor down in place.

Man, you don't know what I went through just to see this video. Please change the music of the video with Youtube's audioswap, because it didn't wanted to load in my country so I had to get creative. (F*ck sony entertainment really, hope they burn)

But if this works I'll get back to you, hopefully I can open the lid on my Acer somehow.

Tried it... We'll see if it works. My Acer 4720Z's screen turns white 40% of the time when I boot it. It's definitely a problem with the connection between the screen and the motherboard because if fixes or twitches when I move the screen back and forth. I hope this simple solution really works! Thx

It looks like a display connector problem as can be seen in the video. It is better to inform this to Acer guys, though, the fix works. Why use a laptop with faulty connectors, giving a good price to them!

DUDE I love you. I did this to my ASSACOM laptop I dropped and had the WSD appear. Works like a charm and it cost me 13dollars for the precision screwdrivers instead of paying out 70dollars for a new screen/wires :)

I always knew it was my cable but just couldn't see where the damage was when I dropped it, but I guess placing pressure on it fixed whatever got loose :)

i have a 4315 and i pulled off the tab and pushed down on the wires like u did on the video and it didnt work.

WOW!!! it is an amazing discovery!!! My laptop is Acer Aspire 4710z, I did the same thing and it works. I did not use any paper fold but tightly inserted screen data cable at that point.

Here's what i did: i opened the laptop and i found the screen data cable, i added something to stop it of moving around and i worked. 5 stars.
