Avatar is notable for perhaps the most realistic depiction of an interstellar vehicle ever to have appeared on the big screen - the ISV Venture Star at the beginning of the movie. It was designed by physicist Charles Pelligrino - who happens to be an expert on the Titanic. Cameron and Pelligrino met through their dives to the Titanic wreck.
i have not seen hurt locker but avatar in 3d was amazing i hear theres more comming out its gonna be a trilogy? i heard its gonna be sorta like starwars i like the plot of it, it basically summed up the whole american indian trail of tears accept on a planetary scale..
some critics said that heart locker got the oscar for political reasons,I didn't watch the film to honestly, but I watched a tv show which analyzed it,the show held the opinion that heart locker won the oscar as it defended the American imperialism represented in Iraq, the film also tried to demonize the legal Iraqi resistance against the occupation,Avatar on the other hand attacked the western persecuting imperialism and supported the sacred rights of peoples in defending their land
very true. Alot of people have said this - despite Hurt Locker being a film set in the Iraq war, and Avatar being set in a complete fantasy land - Avatar has more political undertones than Hurt Locker.
You're T-Shirt is a 5 & the national colour of the netherlands @ soccer. I have not seen both movies but i know Avatar sucks as if it was a kiddie movie by disney (nah disney made better movies) but whats with that scarf (unlogic to wear with a T-Shirt, but probaly some fashion thingy) *Grtz from Amsterdam, i was in a interactive mood since i smoked a fine Joint =)
I've never seen it. You know there is a time and place for both films. Hurt locker shows some realism. Avatar shows some escapism. Sometimes in a heavy day, we don't feel like realism, we would like to escape from this stinking world, and go into pure escaping. Other times, we feel like learning some interpretations of history and can deal with the drama and the emotions that go with it. I never expected Avatar to get the Oscar. It took so long for Spielberg to get an Oscar. Think about it.
Did you catch the Razzies also? Transformers nabbed quite a number of "awards," like worst movie, worst director, and worst screenplay. I was downtrodden to learn that two of the three screenwriters on Transformers also worked on Star Trek and Watchmen. How did such a shift in quality occur?
Avatars is the same as Pocahontas just blue people and in the future. Btw is he gay??? Jw not being mean

The Oscars are far from being the best measure for what makes a good film.

I love the Razzies! Regarding your question about how 3 screenwriters for 2 good movies could write for 1 bad movie, the short answer is Michael Bay.

I got lost the oscars, but there knew already more or less who would win. 5 for you.
