  • I always thought it was funny how they made this the theme song on wonder years, a kid show even though the whole songs talking about him coping with problems with drugs

  • You don't want Joe Cocker covering your songs because he'll do them better than the original artists.

  • @microstorm umm youtube DOES have a repeat button haha

  • Youtube need a repeat-button...

  • It's amazing,

  • eighteen people don't have friends

  • Great cover

  • Brividi che solo un capolavoro può dare!!

  • For some reason, we had to sing this at school, i was in like year 4 and on the chorus each year did a line then the next year would start, it got kind of epic

  • @kipolop Hey mate. I'm Andy from Glasgow and I had a very cool and different school from the norm but that kicks ass. I would like to know how you turned out with an education like that. I'm guessing Not bad at all.

  • Great song, superior version and guitar by Jimmy Page!

  • Wonder Years!!!!

  • The Wonder Years

  • 17 peoples haven't friends !

  • Twas a time when the English made music. Now they make noises are ugly homo and like Elton John

  • He was 24 when he had a hit with this in 1968. Former gas-fitter from tough Sheffield, northern England.

  • SeaNanners

  • Wonder Years <3

  • I've been watching the Wonder Years on netflix lately and noticed the intro song was sung by someone else. I kept thinking I was crazy but then I read in a review that they removed this version (which is the one we all grew up with). Sad, but at least I found it here! AWESOME VERSION!

  • Très belle version de cette chanson. Nettement meilleur que celle des Beatles.

Beautiful version of this song. Significantly better than the Beatles.

    Bonjour de Montréal, Québec

  • @missRockngirl00 Merci pour ton commentaire. A mon tour d'être d'accord avec toi; En effet chanter cette chanson avec Janis Joplin serait extraordinaire!

  • 15 people can't understand soul music

  • @Taythatguitardude Totally. Best version of this music, no doubt.

  • love this song i think its better than the original by the beetles.

  • yeah i hear this song yet i seee see kevin playing baseball....i see wayne hitting karen with a plate....i see jack by the grill an norma stressed with her kids.....i see dorky winny before she blossomed...i see paul waving to the camera....these are my WONDER MOMENTS to JOE CROCKER

  • I listen this song and i can only think in the start credits of The Wonder Years I still rememer the order of the credits:Fred Savage,Dan Lauria,Alley Mills,Jason Hervey,Olivia D'abo,Danica McKellar and Josh Saviano.......

  • @Taythatguitardude As a Beatle fan I must agree totally

  • Jimmy Page!!

  • For pretty much my whole life (until a few months ago) I thought this guy was black.

    Great song!

  • @hamidig same here, I'm just finding out now.

  • @hamidig

I think that's called the 'Rick Astley effect'.

  • @hamidig thats what all those old british singers were going for was trying to sound black

  • @hamidig mate i thought plan b was a girl till last week

  • @hamidig he does have a little Ray Charles in him

  • @hamidig Your age, grasshopper?

  • @hamidig LOL Same here...

  • I herd multiple covers by the beatles and other bands, but no one can compare to this one. He's the only one who can sing it. Especially the swell at the chorus with a choir joining in behind him. This song is so powerful in it's simplicity of the lyrics, it most has to do how you deliver them. This version proves it indefinitely.

  • @HermonieG1 yes! someone that share my view, i find it strange i only like covers

  • I honestly am not a big fan of the Beatles (blasphemy, I know). I think they were godly and influential lyricists, but they just didn't preform as well as others could.

I think this sort of affirms my point.

  • @qwertym8 I'm also not a fan of the Beatles. Very few of their songs I actually like. I find them influential, but not in my music tastes.

  • wtf is this shit really .. this is no where near as good as the beatles version

  • @itsBECKYbitch100 it has more feeling in it i think.

  • Comment removed

  • @boogie29man It's Joe Cocker, dipshit.

  • @boogie29man no its cocker shows how much you know LMAO

  • I wasn't old enough when Wonder Years was on television but I constantly watched the re-runs growing up, and the song has been a big part of my childhood. c:

  • @Taythatguitardude This song should be composed by joe cocker.

  • @TheGrayRevolution He certainly made it his own!

  • @Taythatguitardude Agreed. Joe Cocker > Ringo Starr

  • Best. Beatles. Cover. Ever.

  • @TheLizGang ....uh.... he whoops Beatles out the whazoooo. No comparison.....Beatles lose.....the old man wins!

  • jimmy page on guitar!

  • Still "Kicks" butt.... LOL,; born in the mid 40's; This is the best! Just an old lady giving my 2 cents worth. Young ppl. today don't know what they missed out on.

    Redneck Girl from Montgomery, Texas

  • I am a Beatles MANIAC. I love them, their music, style, etc. I have always said that no one should ever cover their songs because it would be sinful to do so, but I've always thought this song is an exception. WONDERFUL JOB JOE!!

  • you just can't beat cocker,or any "classic vinyl" for that matter, even if you were born in the 90's

  • dude your attempt at lyrics are way off

  • @JohnLennonIsLove16 I am almost nauseous to see John Lennon's name who stood for Peace & Love all his life, used by a useless piece of garbage, not even worth the highest degrade of being called a piece of shit. You're an insult even to trash! Dude, you are below that!!! You are the slime in the maggot's stomach stuck in the feces attached to the bottom of your own shoe, which was probably your last enjoyable meal!!!! Joe Cocker RULES!!!! Keep trying to get your head out of your OWN ASSHOLE!!!!

  • Wow john lennon lover - and you thought that all up by your self? Impressive... LOL

  • @JohnLennonIsLove16 You're pretty classy.

  • @JohnLennonIsLove16 Your the reason kids shouldnt be alowed on youtube

  • @TheRobey01 lol u mad bro?

  • @JohnLennonIsLove16 no just irritated

  • @JohnLennonIsLove16 Joe cocker is 227078 times more populair then you, so shut the fuck up.

  • @JohnLennonIsLove16 well first off im pretty sure my skin is white and im not gay. So what is your point. your mom and dad not giving you enough attention so you have to come on youtube and be an attention whore?

  • @Taythatguitardude inorite!? This is the BEST cover of ANY song of ALL time!

  • I Favorited this video. :)

  • BOTH VERSIONS WERE GREAT WHY MUST WE COMPARE THEM!?

  • @Blackberry851 probably because it's a cover...

  • Kevin.Winnie.Paul

  • @Taythatguitardude all day everyday it does indeed

  • This song brings tears to my eyes every time

  • Essa versão é D+++. Amo de PAIXÃO . Uma homenagem do Joe Cocker para banda The Beatles... :*

  • 11 negatives? why search for the song if you're just going to fucking thumbs down it? fuckwads.

  • @1stBONER cause those 11 people dont have friends that they can count on when needed their loss

  • Joe rocked this song so hard no band no matter how good they are like the beatles could make a better version

  • @Taythatguitardude I'm sorry But I totally disagree...

  • @Taythatguitardude It's okay, The Beatles were never really that good.

  • @djburst its sad how stupid people can be... plz kill yourself by stop breathing!

  • @dartheldrad Read a book some time, fella.

  • @djburst fuck you. the beatles were legendary

  • @dreadlocks7194 I didn't say they weren't legendary, just not all that good. I also didn't say everyone reading my posts on the internet had to agree with me.

  • @djburst hey sorry about that my brother gets on my account all the time and does this shit all the time, give him a scare, his account is philipwiththedreads and once again sorry about this, also im not a big beatles fan my self haha

  • Chills down my spine

  • played this at my gradution.when they showed everbod'y embarrassing pics

  • @Taythatguitardude Not to mention it was the opening theme one of the greatest TV shows of all time, The Wonder Years!

  • shinedown did pretty good doing this song too. ...i wonder if that version is up here on youtube as well...anyone know?

  • One thing that sets beatles apart from many bands is that they always knew what they were doing, even if this was their less great song! It was just the moment and the concept of the precise composition. That's what happens with this song. They wanted it plain, clear, short, with the vocals of Ringo Starr. If they wanted it longer it would be longer. That's why I think the first version is the best. I also don't think that these gospel-like vocals of the joe cocker version fit the song at all

  • I love Joe's voice so much and his spin on this song is brilliant but I don't like the background vocals. I find myself listening to the first verse over and over again.

  • This song goes right through me. Awesome.

  • @Taythatguitardude I AGREE !!

  • the beatles shouldna even tried, joe cold as hell,he laced this shit,no other version compares

  • @TonyKikoakaGrizz You're kidding right? You do know that The Beatles wrote this song, right? Without them, this would not exist. Without them, most other music wouldn't exist either.

  • The Wonder Years <3

  • This version is sweet, but The Beatles's version is the better of all.

  • ehh the beatles killed it... this one has more soul and feels more meaning full

  • this absolutely sucks. the beatles is the best

  • @Taythatguitardude ARE YOU KIDDING ME??? The Beatles version is always gonna be the best version. go rethink your statement. john and george are looking down on you and cursing at you, trust me.

  • wonder years

  • @Taythatguitardude stop hashis, man

  • 10 dislikes ffs. go put some lady googoogaga on ya planks

and to the fella who said ringos version was better, you are kidding me

he sang this song like a nursery rhyme

this version is pretty much recognised as a tune better than the original

being a beatles tune makes that even more praisworthy.

seriously listen to this version and then ringos. no match

  • 10 dislikes ffs. go put some lady googoogaga on ya planks

  • I saw him in Halifax, Nova Scotia,..in a hockey Rink,....1975,....,...he was So Bad,...He was SOOOO Good,....he's stayed with me, all my life,....

  • i remember listening to the when i watched The Wonder Years as a kid...good times

  • @Taythatguitardude soooo true man this version has way more soul.

  • Obviously, this is not a patch on the original, but it's not bad by any means.

    Good ol' Ringo.

  • The Wonder Years

  • takes me back!

  • 0:49 to 1:10 just instantly puts the image of the shakey camra intro from the wounder years in my head , then that brings me bk to childhood happy days when tv was family time n the progrfammes were the bestistted in da worl +)

  • The Joe Cocker single, featuring Jimmy Page on lead guitar, reached no. 1 on the British pop singles chart in 1968. Cocker also performed the song at Woodstock in 1969, which was also a highlight of the Woodstock movie that came out in 1970. The song was used as the theme of the ABC TV series The Wonder Years featuring Fred Savage. The song was performed on American Idol on March 9, 2011.

  • @kingoma61 Don't forget that this was on in 2009 x-factor sang by Danyl Johnson. He delivered a amazing performance.

  • Beatles forever!

  • The Beatles version is way better

  • I know this song means somethin different for older people; for my generation this reminds us of the televison show The Wonder Years. Loved this song and that show.

  • this version is ok and all, but the beatles' is, by far, much better.

  • @niceShirt576 Now we all know that the beatles are the best of the best but i like this version better- idk im more of a blusy kinda guy

  • @niceShirt576 This may or may not be true but what I think is amazing is how he took a humble little Ringo song and made this with it.

  • thank you for this!

  • Jimmy Page on guitar!!!!

  • Pass the weed, man! COUGH! COUGH!

  • The Wonder Years.

  • Where are you Lil sis, you failed me...."you broke my heart Fredo"....
