  • I have had this song in my head since 1972. It is wonderful to hear it again. I have often wondered why it was not used again....it is a simple and wonderful song...thanks for posting it

  • Thanks so very much for finding this truly great collection! I have sought information on it many, many times, and nobody has had any idea of how to find it.

As others have noted, this brings back so many pleasant memories; still remember

Mary Travers of PP&M singing at my college right after "Lemon Tree" was a hit.

And Jim McKay's fine & friendly hosting of the Olympic broadcasts was tops.

The orchestra and arranger are to be complimented, too...great job!

  • I'm glad to hear this song here in Germany! John Denver's songs are simply wonderful. Since I was a little boy I've always been keen of his Music, and I guess I'll always be. I'm 37 years old, and maybe I'm the only German guy at this age who has not forgotten him! He will be my idol forever!

  • @edgyontherocks: You are absolutely correct. The '72 Winter Games were on NBC and this was a fantastic theme song. The combined harmonies of John Denver & Mary Travers (of Peter, Paul, & Mary fame) made for great listening.

  • I have searched for this song for almost 40 years now. I was beginning to think that it was just a fiction of my childhood memory. Thank you for posting this for all of us to enjoy.

  • I don't know why some music "catches" in my mind. I remember this as part of the '72 Olympics as televised on NBC (I think). I've looked for it for years. I knew it was Denver singing. Amazing. Now I can rest this piece of my past. Thanks. Thanks so much -

  • I'm glad others have found this song as well. I just loved it when I heard it back in 1972;. so glad this nice person found it and posted it for us to hear again-- like finding an old friend! enjoying the 2010 olympics as well. usa doing very well! how different the olympics are now. how about the canadian figure skater last night? that was so sad, but she skated for her mom who died a few days ago- what a brave and inspired perfomance!

  • @jamoncure: Thanks for the kind comment. Yes, the performance of Joannie Rochette is beautiful and touching. Sorry, I can not explain myself very well in English...

  • I have searched for this song for years. I always thought is was so inspiring, and really expressed the true spirit of the games. As I watch the 2010 Olympics, and the Tom Brokaw interview with Bode Miller, it is refreshing to know that the Olympic meaning has not died, only lain dormant for a while.

  • @rancidbass: Thanks for your kind comment. This song really shows the Olympic spirit, I think. Besides, this year's Winter Game is worth watching IMO.

  • I can't believe I found this on YouTube. When I was 11 years old in 1972, I became addicted to the Winter Olympics for the first time. This song was a huge part of the experience, and I've been trying to track it down ever since. Thanks so much for posting this!

  • @mgliberatore: Thanks for your kind comment. I'm glad you liked this song.

  • I can remember watching the 1972 Olympics from Sapporo as a teenager, I absolutely adored this song, and still remember it to this day. I never realized who did it. I spent a while trying to find it thru youtube, so thanks so much for posting it here! what a great blast from the past. made my day!

  • @jamoncure: Thanks. I'm glad you like this video. I hope you can enjoy this year's Winter Olympics as well!

  • oh this is another great post keep them up

  • @LazyBadgerHC715: Thanks for your kind comment.

  • Oh my, it's strange how this video earns over 80 views in an hour - it is certainly not the best video!
