I don't use an alternator. I have a 5W Solarpanel behind the headrest and a pulse-charger hooked up to it. Did a trip from Atlanta, GA to Santa Catalina Island, CA that way without a single need of a conventional battery charger.

@ATLRCFlyer The aircraft has since been sold, but I am interested in purchasing a nearly completed Long-EZ. Good info on the solarpanel though.

@vondeliusc Long-EZs are nice. That's what I wanted initially but i found my beautiful VariEZE and couldn't resist.
