  • Working Stiff /watch?v=5MRqSow5xqE

  • Creepy? Not really. Horrifying? No. Pointless? Yes.

  • I love Anakrid's music. It's nice to see it put with film. I plan on claiming him to put sound to my creations in the future.

  • @EyebrowTrimmers

Couldn't agree with you more. Anakrid's music is incredible. Check out my short "Dirt Dauber" for even more Anakrid creepiness.

  • This felt authentic, and is so, so creepy...we like. ;)

  • @CynAnne65

Thank you. It was based on a reoccurring dream I had, so you could say that it is indeed authentic.

  • Excellent. I like it, and it certainly freaked me out.

Question: How much of this is on a tripod, and did you shoot sync sound, or dub it in later?

  • Thanks. It's hard to say what the "tripod to hand held" ratio was. An equal mix of both. This was Tri-X film, which is silent. All the sound was designed and sync'd later.

  • Ah, I see. One of the things I like about super 8 is that even when you shoot from a tripod, there's still a little wobble because of the plastic pressure plate. It makes the film a little more realistic, I think.

Very good. That gives me hope that I can shoot a film intending to add foley later... thanks for the help!

  • this great I love stuff like this....I'm a filmmaker as well is this your work?

    check out my films

    coldwhiteproductions

  • an excellent lovecraft styled movie. did you tele-cine this yourself?

  • i first saw this on the Fangoria's Blood Drive 2, and i still say it's one of the best short horror movies i've ever seen. Great Job Steve.

  • Hey Andy....thanks man. Glad you like it. Check out recently posted part 2.

  • mr. Ghormley isn't haunting anybody or anywhere! he had a heart attack in his cabin. but every time i go to this camp the camp director always tells scary stories about this cabin. ironic how it's at a christian camp.

  • "The Door will not open"...

Fear of an Otaku planet :D

This was shaping up really well. Don't know about the music score but I suppose it had a certain compulsiveness to it which helped set the mood. I know film makers don't thrive on entirely positive comments which is the only reason I am critical about this piece at all.

  • Very compelling how your shot sequence brings us into the man's mystery.

  • Wave! It is perfekt!

I think it looks very much like Linch, and I

    think Linch - genius!

  • Thank you for doing this excellent piece of work in B&W. Superb craftmanship, to a premium effect. Please post more!

  • This is, bar none, the best horror short I've ever seen. Excellent work, sir.

If you haven't seen the whole thing, get it!

  • Fantastic, I´d like to watch the whole thing! I´m doing myself a Super 8 Horror film soon. Cheers from Brazil!

  • ;)prima

  • This is really beautiful, reminds me the silent german movies.

  • Thank you my friend.

  • I was spellbound. I want to see the whole thing, if such a magnificent thing should exist.

  • Thank you for the kind words. The complete film does exist. It's available on the Fangoria Blood Drive dvd.

  • I'll definitely consider purchasing it. Thanks a lot.

  • I watched this on an educational channel SC has last night.

Ohh, it was amazing. I need to order the DVD.

    Great job.

  • ich finde diesen "Kauderwelsch" herrlich ;)

    I find this "gibberish" magnificently

  • Vielen Dank!!!!!

  • herrlich amüsant ,einfach toll .Klasse !

  • the second part?????????

  • oh, damn I want to see the rest!

  • Ok, now I *must* watch the rest! Ijust added this to my blockbuster queue, can't wait to see this story unfold (hoping it's in Fangoria: blood drive II, at least that's what the imdb claims). Great job with this short film!

  • Ok, the dvd just arrived in the mail, so now I've seen the whole thing. Incredible. Awesome job, Steve! I'm still trying to figure it all out ;^) This is a masterfully told story.

  • hehe i like the begining 3-2-1-random guy in mask! the whole thing was great i want more!=)

  • the devil made me do it.

  • Man I forgot how unsettling and eerie this short was. More like this, Daniels!

  • cool 5 stars!!!!!

  • Genius. This IS the best I've seen of the Blood Drive DVDs...I must have seen this 5 or 6 times I just remembered that I saw it ALOT...

  • I have been shooting super 8 for years & this is truly some brilliantly presented, shot, edited B&W super 8 work indeed & well done Steve!

  • Hey Steve,

I was fortunate enough to see your film when I reviewed it as part of the "Fangoria Bllod Drive" compilation. ( I used to write for Monsters at Play.) It was far and away the best of the shorts and, quite honestly, still the strongest horror short I've seen in years. Glad to finally see some more of your work posted! Love that Super 8 aesthetic!! I'm posting a video response as well... but it is quite silly compared to the genius of "Gibbering..." Keep in touch! Bradley

  • Hey Bradley..thanks for the kind words. Your review was also greatly appreciated (I re-printed it on my now out-of-date website)....especially the flattering comparison to Maya Deren's work.

  • Once again Mr. Daniels you;ve out done yourself. Why only the first 5 min.? I want the whole damn thing.

  • Awesome work, very creepy.

  • this is really good. when i posted my little super 8 film, i started looking around at some other 8mm horror films on here, and yours is definitely the best. i actually found a lot of similarities in our films...good job.

  • Thanks for the compliment Drew. I enjoyed your film too..especially the music. Ah, record scratches.

  • u r the shit!

  • Very good....make more!!

  • wonderful! :)

"this door will not open" - whether that's intended as a bit of humor or not, it's still quite chilling

  • totally awesome!

  • you are an incredible director and a phenominal editor! 5 stars (6 if i could!)

  • I appreciate the kind words, Bubba

  • this is nothing short of extraordinary dude!

  • Hey Mr SD!

    Love your editing skills...

Another great one in my book me say...

    Mr D

  • Thank you Mr. D
