  • link for video converter?

  • THANKS!

  • So what flash drive camera works smoothly with mac, no conversion garbage?

  • what do u mean

  • what is the link

  • Just to add to your info, if you have Vegas Video Editor, you don't need to convert the files. It can read this type of files.

  • is there a link for a free converter (mac) that i can use??

  • thank you lots i was having problems with mine

  • Yo, everyone this I searched for Video Converter at Google Images and I found something that really looks like this. The programs name is Xilisoft 3GP Video Converter. I don't know if it's the same I hope it helps you. :)

    (I didn't make this video)

  • can you please send me the url of where you downloaded that??? PLEASE!

    THANKS!

  • yep would be easier to just rename to .mpg

    oh well

  • But what do you do once it is in .mpg format? Do I need another converter? Thanks

  • once you have renamed it .mpg try it in your video editing software. If that doesn't work yes you will need to convert it. what operating system and software are you trying to use?

  • I am using Mac OS X Tiger, 10.4 i think, and I'm trying to convert it with Video Converter (What is used i this film)

  • well if you're using the converter in this film you just convert it to a .mov format which is best to edit in imovie or other mac editors

  • OK cool! Thank you sooo much!

  • You can't just rename it, it's needs to be re-encoded.

  • if you don't require the audio just renaming the file will be fine in most video editing systems. But the way that the audio is muxed to the file you'll pretty much have to convert it if you need the audio. =

  • Sure you can for video editing systems, but you don't get the same rates as the original video.

It doesn't matter if you want audio or not, the codec will never be the same simply by changing the extension. Sure, changing the extensions changes how Windows or Mac and softwares recognize it, but it does not change the codec - and that is a BIG factor.

  • agreed it does not change the actual codec but there is no loss in quality when you just rename it compared to converting it. Just for ease of use though I always convert them to mov files so I can guarantee they'll run on every system.

  • MOV uses double passes though, when other formats don't - double pass makes the filesize smaller and the stream smoother.

  • ...only one problem - the Canon saves video in Mpeg2 NOT in Mpeg4.

So basically just rename the files to .mpg :)

  • ya jut do that
