All of the information about HDR Photography, provided on the internet, has been intended to assist and teach "Photographers" how to do this process. While it's easy to teach the shooting aspect, it's both time consuming and expensive to learn how to do the "proper" post-processing. If you look up Pro Photo Results / HDR Photography on YouTube, you will finally be able to get the finished post-processing done for you! You do not need to be a professional Photographer to accomplish this.
HDR is not photography. HDR is magic button stimulation of an image. Photography is capturing an image with a mastery of light and composition. Your work is interesting but common.
@krawdaddys i do see what you mean but surely HDR photography is just a tool to help us manipulate how we see the world and create something new and interesting instead of just capturing what we see(im not saying that is a bad thing).
@krawdaddys You obviously haven't seen Trey Ratcliff's work. You're right that the pictures in this video were fairly ordinary, but HDR from an expert is beautiful.

I think, although HDR can be used with everything, the exaggerated effects (as demonstrated here) are only to be used with certain images for artistic effect. Although there are some flaws (the glow around the single palmtree image), this is a very good demonstration of HDR and how different it can be to regular images.
For those asking how to do it: Take 2 or more pictures with different exposures of the same thing without moving the camera. Import them into photomatix.
This is simply a "Superb" presentation as what HDR can do. Most interesting is that you can take a very very simply nothing much photo and convert it into something close to a "masterpiece!"... this is a great piece of HDR work...keep up the terrific presentations.....
@sima150 the thing is though, you can do it for every picture and you can still keep the normal looking picture, cuz it takes 3 shots, one normal and two others. If you're unhappy with hdr you can just keep normal.
Too much vibrance in these photos, i would switch them b/w and it would make a good effect. Great pictures nontheless, but maybe try less processing through cs. The HDR itself is great don't really need to adjust a picture so much. But anyways, great job and keep taking more pictures ! :D
I would like to try HDR but i think it looks better subtley done. Unlles of coarse your going for a way out effect. A lot of HDR photos remind me of the time i took magic mushrooms !
Majority of them are pushed too far and don`t even look like HighDynamicRange pictures but more like over-saturated paintings. They are nice, but you don`t need to use settings in their maximum ratings imho

Yeah, thhedk is right. It's extremely easy to over due it in tonemapping and make everything look overly artificial. Granted, the "illustrated look" has it's place, but it can get pretty tiring to look at.
this is brilliant , I recently got my hands on an canon eos 300d but unfortunately I don't have a tripod . the camera has the ae bracketing function , but I can't seem to make this work in photoshop CS3 like you do . what option do you use that saves time but also does this job ? the "file-automate-merge to HDR" or the layering method ? if you could give me a detailed insight of your work I will be really grateful .
I dont know what to say, thats is some really amazing work. I was told about this at Futureshop today when I ordered my new Camera. I am so going to get some software for this.
holy shit! haha i have basically the same pictures that u have taken in Jacksonville florida right??? i wish i knew how to do HDR then mine and urs would look almost identical
I'm good at taking the shots... I can't tone map to save my life. I really wish someone local or somewhere on the internet can say "do these settings" because honestly I feel that I'm screwing up one slider or two. Spectacular images, by the way.
Although subjective, my $0.02 is you made the sky too dark very often. To reproduce what the human eye sees like in a photo the sky needs to be around 1 stop brighter than the ground & reflections. Many of your pics the ground looks about 1/2 stop brighterwhich in nature is pretty much impossible making them look edited and surreal.
If you dont fiddle around to much in photoshop you can get realistic looking HDR images.......depends what you want as an end result. Im not against "cartoon" like results, some look like oil paintings to me.
The biggest advantage for outside photo's is obviously the sky (or non sky) detail that's added. You can certainly make great big photo's, posters with HDR and it's great you only need 1-2 programs and a few profiles to get such great results.
P.S.: I'm absolutely not against HDR processing. I think it's one of the best techniques developed, ever. I just wish more people would pay more attention to balance instead of creating this extreme detail that make too many pictures look somewhat cartoonish imo.
The point with HDR is that it's great for showing detail, but people often go over the top with it, making the picture almost look cartoonish. If that's the intention, it's a mission accomplished. It's not realistic anymore though.
The human eye can better adapt to high contrast situations than camera's, but the HDR images sometimes make the pictures have more detail than the human eye can see. That's why some think it's not realistic. If you don't care, it's all good.
Sorry, but you don't know how to use hdr correctly .. You use this technique too strong, your pic looks very unreal, just like very crappy painted pic. HDR is made for improve dynamic range in your photos, to see pic like you saw it before you take it with your camera.
There is only one or two where the technic looks off compared to some I have seen these look very nice. Plus HDR can be used to get that surreal lighting that looks like a dream world. To say what you did was harsh and makes you sound snobbish. Remember that could be the look the person taking the picture wants not everyone will like it.
Yup, you have right. Of course you can use it to make yours pictures looks like dream word with surreal lighting. I just writhed what i think about hdr technique. Sorry, didn't mind to attack you. Peace and wish you nice shots witch your camera :)
HIGH Dynamic RANGE. This means there are hugely bright areas and hugely dark areas. One must first make the choice as to WHICH area is the FIRST (zero bracket) to reference from. Secondly if the scene is NOT of HDR composition, one will be disappointed with the results. For example here there is a composition of a large field and a large sky: This is NOT and HDR candidate. Zukaka84 mentioned that it looks FAKE. It is ART. Very nice slide show Erion904.
Question: Is it a single photo processed with photomatrix intop a fke HDR photo or is it 2 shots with different time of lightning and then joined with the program? Or: Is it a real hdr camera? Answer pülease, awesome video btw man, 5*****!
HDR shots are typically made by combining 3 photos. One picture is under exposed, the next is normal exposure, and the final is over exposed. Photoshop then has a function to combine the 3 to get and HDR picture. Im not sure how he gets the incredible colors though. maybe he could tell us :D
Awesome scenery HDR photos, Love to take my HDR pictures with my Nikon D90 together with VR 18-200mm Nikkor Len and use it in Photomatix Pro 3.2.3 to create HDR photos.
I really like this. I thought some of the images were really excellent, was impressed by the treatment as it was applied to every day subjects. Also liked the choice of music - by the way what is it? Great job. Thanks.

This would be a GREAT tutorial for those wanting to see what HDR really does.
Its the "before" and "After" shots that really get to you. If it don't get to you, then don't even bother with HDR.
I was a "non believer in hdr" until I really got into it and now, I'm truly addicted to it!..
To my very simple mind, HDR does make a TREMENDOUS difference!...

What usually follows then, is Tonemapping
You could do this in Photoshop as well, but there is a great program Photomatix Pro, try it!

Awesome scenery HDR photos, Love to take my HDR pictures with my Nikon D90 together with VR 18-200mm Nikkor Len and use it in Photomatix Pro 3.2.3 to create HDR photos.

HDR makes it feel like everything in a photo is ment to be there... just like a painting. Great vid.

I really like this. I thought some of the images were really excellent, was impressed by the treatment as it was applied to every day subjects. Also liked the choice of music - by the way what is it? Great job. Thanks.

This comment has received too many negative votes show
Tacky...sentimental...synthetic...vulgar...... cheesy...cliched...hackneyed...and above all really, really fake.

Some are fine, but I would agree with some of the comments about being overdone. Quite impressive though
