#1 was very good. #2 and #3...not so much. Why would you not want a real round .308 or bigger? Need to kill a deer... need to kill someone with body armor.. seriously .223 is not worth the time. You want surety..and .223 does not bring that. Sidearm? Why do people keep putting that in the top three for WROL? I have a .30-06 you have a 9mm.... ready, set, go.... who's gonna kill who? Are you confident you're going to win? Also food= important.... throw a good .22 in and you eat forever.
We as gun owners really need to stop giving the media gas for the fire by referring to our ar 15s and AK type rifles as ASSAULT RIFLES.....if they are not full auto they are not assault weapons....just my two cents
in the urban area i live in i would have to choose an AK type rifle instead of the AR...if you ended up in a situation where you have to constantly move for food and shelter you might want a rifle with lower maintenance
If you want a heavy duty, long range, anti material, support rifle do some research on the PTRS-41 anti-tank rifle. the PTRS-41 is a semi-automatic anti-tank rifle that was used along the Eastern Front in World War II and then used again in the Korean War and Chines It was originally developed for the PTRS and PTRD anti-tank rifles, but was later used as the basis for the KPV heavy machine gun that formed the basis of the ZPU series anti-aircraft guns. in other words, its a big freaking bullet.
Definitely a Remmington 870, Ruger 10/22, Glock 17, and AR-15. You could do with a larger caliber rifle for distance, but unless you live in a farm I doubt you'll be engaging people beyond 100-200 yards.
doubletap, I agree, most ppl don't realize how fast a revolver can hit multiple targets. also reloading should be considered. revolver reloads are much more tolerant of slight mistakes and can use a wider range of materials. example,most large caliber cartriges can be reloaded with black powder and round balls if nothing else is available. you can even cut down 410 shotgun shells and use them in 45colt revovers
3. Side - Glock 23 or S&W M&P40 with a Storm Lake 40->9 conversion and a .357sig barrel
The reason I would suggest this is because you want a firearm that you can carry in WROL and non-WROL With the conversion barrels. You have 1 frame and multiple caliber options. We are not currently in WROL. So, I suggest something that you can have to use now.

Top 5 Most Important Firearms
1. The one you can afford to keep 5,000 rounds for and afford to shoot 500 rounds through every couple months
2.an exact copy of your first gun because it has the same same ballistics, uses the same ammo, uses the same spare parts
ps~ don't call it an "assault rifle" that's a brady term. assault rifles have full auto capability, which requires specials licensing
pss~ there isn't going to be any "hunting" in wrol unless you're somewhere between idaho and the dakotas.
