I found that one way to make the game more difficult is to limit the card drawing to 3 cards, or even 2. instead of filling your hand every time, encouraging to use every card as much as possible. Drawing 2 cards each turn, while enforcing the maximum card rule, gives the cards some value and gives a reason to hold onto them for future trades/wall making. Every time i've played with the standard rules i've won, but i like how easy it is to tweak the rules to make it more challenging. great game.
This seems much more like a game I could get behind. Simple rules, not too many pieces ((at first)), understandable strategy, low barrier to entry... I didn't hear about the cost, or about the total play time ((I didn't see how many pieces there were)) but it is interesting nonetheless.
It appears to be a good, solid family game, one that could be taught easily and thus enhances its own chances of being played and replayed.
I've only played this once, with casual players. It seemed mildly challenging, but I really like the 'single winner' mechanic as a way to self-balance the game challenge. Meaning that if your group finds it too easy to beat the game, individuals can play more selfishly, and press their luck, increasing the odds of defeat. Depending on the group, this could create a lot of 'interesting' interaction.
As i don't know many cooperative games (well, without the saboteur or traitor inside) this seems like a nice addition to Pandemic. Maybe a lighter game, but there are still some hard choices.

Hey! Melody finally said WHY she like the game and not what the game is about. A historic moment for The Dicetower.
Just kidding, but I got really a bit tired of sentences like "I like this game because you are trying to get the most points!"
The next Top 100 video row Melody will hopefully say more on her own without the help of Tom.
By the way: Great review ;)
I've heard a lot about Castle Panic and I'm really looking forward to play it!
