  • have to do this 4 homewooooorrrrkkkkk........ughhhhh! ;(

  • While it is true that Queen Elizabeth I was not entirely a good person, she was a great queen. In those times, women were 'weak and feeble' and she excepted that, but she showed men and her people that she was no 'woman', that she was a 'king'. Centuries later, she would be an inspiration to women and even to men. She showed the world that women are not 'weak and feeble', but strong-willed and capable of anything a man is. It's sad to see so many women these days just get drunk ...

  • she is a example for us woman around the world. just love her

  • @wllamadefuego You are a sexist moron, You are a vile creature, And you are the epitome of society, You are what is wrong with America. You should be decapitated in time square of New York city, And your corpse should be burned whilst being danced upon with men wearing cleats.

  • there will never be anyone like her! She's my hero!

  • She was feminist woman, like many woman in Evropa history.

  • My admiration for this lady is big..What a wonderful woman she was!

  • is this her real voice? or is this someone reading her speech?

  • @littleduckysitting thats a joke rit

  • @littleduckysitting How could it have been her real voice? she lived 400 years ago..

  • @aeronuk1 She lived approximately five hundred years ago. Do not post such rhetorical idiocies, And fallacies as that. Also, Speak English. An ellipsis is not used for your pause, Anyone of which uses an ellipsis as a pause should be burned whilst being danced upon with men wearing cleats.

  • The English had a great leader in Elizabeth I.

  • British hostory is the most rich and interesting history in the world.

  • @darrelofsheff No, if its interesting or not is up to each and every ones own taste. But in richness, ancient mespotamia and the middle-east as a whole has a longer and richer history.

  • @darrelofsheff

    *English

  • And there are actually some people who want to be done with the Monarchy? If I was on that field in 1588 I would have been so moved and gave my life for Queen and country.

  • What accent do you have? I can't place it at all.

  • Even though that she is a feminist but shes the only feminist which I respect.

  • @bigscolari where is your proof Elizabeth is a Nazi? Such a claim should be substantiated.

  • @bigscolari Your dumb and paranoid

  • @bigscolari

Try reading books instead of burning them, fascisto

  • The Tudors were an interesting family - ironic that her mom was killed by Henry VIII. Great lady, she brought the Spanish Empire to its knees.

  • You are so right, her greatest achievement was giving King James the VI the throne which united the UK & gave us all peace until his death.

  • aeonbrit,

Your knowledge of European history is bleak. Queen Anne Boleyn, the mother of Queen Elizabeth I was English through and through.

Her father Henry VII had Welsh origins but denounced them during his reign with his clash with the Roman Catholic Church after his divorce from Catherine of Aragon.

You forget that the Welsh were frequently under the sovereignty of the English parliament, which by law made Henry English in descent.

Elizabeth, being English in its purest.

  • Elizabeth was 99.9 percent English, she was one of few monarch's that was completely English in blood.

  • @usaboy17 you know the Tuders were a welsh family don't you?

and your quite wrong back then royals always use to breed with otehr princes and princess from other countries

  • what was that song in the backgrounds name i can use it in my presentation of the speech ...!!!!!!

  • QUEEEEEN IS MY AAAAAAAAASSSSS

  • She was the KING !

  • i need a report on elizabeth the 1st

  • You can't be a Royalist, when you are surrounded by the victims of the empire, constantly sneering and doing dissfavours.

You just feel that, if they gave a shit, they would seperate us, from those who want to blame us for the sins of our masters.

I get constant dirty looks, from the ever increasing number of foreigners, in our area. And we moved here, to get away form them, where we used to live.

No dissrespect, but I feel safer, around educated whites, then uneducated quatamalans !

  • The worst thing these islands ever did was let in the devil golliwogs.

Look what the spades are doing to these lush, green and pleasant lands!!

  • They are trapped, like dogs, in cities, where only money can get you through each day.

Then they are deprived of money.

Crime ensues, and hatred for those in control is inevitable. Yes, they are a scourge, but if you crowd enough different types of people into a small space, and deprive them of the requirements of life, you are FORCING, not asking for, trouble.

We shold pay to rehouse them all, in a nice country, so they thank us, later on.

Most of them would bite your hand off !!

  • A most magnificent time....and spade free too!

    ENGLAND INVICTA!!

  • hi mr saulpaugh !!!

  • very nice !!!

  • the English are many things but we are neither evil or ruthless we were the victoms

and try and remember if your not from one of the old countries you will have english blood in you and the acts of this great women gave rise to the Briitsh after unifercation of all British and remember the english are not german we have never commited genicide!

  • True, true, but you were pirates and were also slave traders, and later, an Empire built upon blood of the Third World

  • Isn't arguing about this rather pointless? I seriously doubt he/she presently is a slave trader or a pirate. :P

  • It is indeed; I just think it´s important to remember some historical deeds, after all it is our history...

So, today UK is essential for peace throughout the world, and the cultural heritage of the English speaking peoples are amongst the greatest! I care a great deal for the british, english, welsh, scottish and irish!

And am a private admirer of Queen Elizabeth II

  • not at all that was the spanish

we brought an end to slavery and we modenised what you call thirdworld couintries and its only since they became inderpendent have they become third world its their own fault not ours and they should stop pointing the finger

  • and we only pirated the trade routes of those we enemies with and they did the same to us so if your going to point the finger point it at our rivals as well

and no we didn't build our empire off 'third world' countires they only became so poor after they left the empire they made poor choises thus their own fault

  • when theancient romans left their German colonies it happened the same, when Britain set free their colonies: The nature recaptured the open terrain. All streets and market places (plus railroads in the British case) had been overcrowded by the unaccessable bush.

It took some hundres year until Carolus Magnus, when in central Europe a nearly Roman standard has been reestablished.

  • Yep, the Spanish armada started the decline of the Spanish empire and was the rise of the British empire.

  • what I meant to say it was start of the rise of the British empire

  • dosn't really work when one of greatest queens every has an american acsent

  • It's British not American, and it's accent not ascent.

  • One thing to say: *ahem* SHE ROCKS! I'm doing a play-thing for school, and I chose her so I've been researching my ass of lately, and I learned something, I find people can both so educated and yet so ignorant at the same time. As if a woman can't be a great ruler? :D

  • I was 23 when Lizi the first came to the throne and let me tell you, she was one hot lady. In the last 400 years there has not been a finer piece of ass sat on the throne, god damn she was a fox.....

  • I admire Queen Elizabeth I and of course our todays' Queen Elizabeth II who has ruled by influence and not power.

  • People(Leaders) don't talk like that anymore...:(

  • :) Well done Queen Elizabeth I.

  • Partybiscuit, totally agree. You cannot compare todays values with those from 16th century or even the 16th century with Ancient

    Egypt.

  • Makes me laugh when I see 16th century values being talked about in todays world. The two are very different. Still....she kicked ass

  • She's my feminist-hero, greatest ruler of Great Britain EVER!!!!!! >D

  • @LS8492 -she wasn't a ruler of Great Britain. She was Queen of England. The crowns of Scotland and England were unified under her successor, James VI of Scotland (Ist of England). The countries weren't politically united until 1707.

And the greatest monarch of the English was Alfred the Great- the clue is in the "Great"

  • @adventussaxonum I disagree that Alfred was our greatest monarch, he wasn't even king of the whole of England.

  • @EnglishHuscarl - true, but without Alfred there wouldn't have been an "England"

He's still the only English monarch to be given the epithet "Great"- and for good reason!

His children and Grandson "kicked ass" too!

  • @LS8492 ...♥

  • @LS8492 She is a great Monarch, Yet she was not a feminist. Such feminism is mind bogglingly idiotic, Disgusting, And vile. She would have executed any one of those vile beasts if they had entered her realm.

  • Well, I have to say you are talking complete and utter rubbish. By the way, I serve the Monarch of my Land in Flesh not some bloke sitting a thousands miles away in Rome, Pretending to be God's highest Authority of Earth.

No once in the Bible is the Church of Rome noted down as being a Church, There are 7 Churches in the Bible that are wrote down, None of them Roman, Although many believe and to a Degree as a Protestant myself that the Thyatira Church is the Roman one.

    Work it out..

  • I think you mean Bloody Mary!

Thanks to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth both Catholic and Protestant was treated with equal respect.

  • "Bloody" may be propaganda...

Elizabeth I certainly was no friend to English Catholics...

  • You seem an Enlightened Person, By all means, Provide some Evidence and not mere words. The facts are quite clear, Bloody Mary held public Executions of People who held Different Religious views than here own, Her Grace Queen Elizabeth did not Execute People because of their Faith, I believe you are getting Mixed up here because she executed people who by trial by jury were found Guilty of Treason.

  • Yes, Elizabeth did persecute English Catholics. Catholic priests were executed simply for being priests during her reign. The Catholic mass was banned and therefore not to be permitted to be observed either in public or in private.

  • Those who continued to practice their faith in secret could be arrested and executed for "treason" if found out by the state. Elizabeth appears to have had little care in regards to what men personally believed but like many of her time period she was willing to persecute groups to achieve her own security. In that sense she was no different than Henry VIII and Mary I who also sought self protection.

  • If you knew your history you would know that the nickname "Bloody Mary" is disregarded by many Historians as unfair. Mary received that nickname from propagandists and Elizabethans who didn't share her views. If anyone deserved the nickname "bloody" it was Henry VIII.

  • See: English Armada in Coruña, 1589.

  • God, I love being English,we are truly Gods chosen people.

  • if it weren't for the social reforms at the most importune time then you might have been.

  • you're simply in the wrong religion a false sect that's too bad but not unchangeable

  • A false sect?,the wrong religion?just because we decided that a man doesnt need a priest to know God?Fuck you.Try to change my faith by force and you will meet your maker sooner than you anticipate.

  • she was a wonderful heartful ruler

  • I LOVE this name !!!!!!!!!!

  • I don't see why we just don't let England rule the world once again. I wouldn't mind heading back to my great-great-great-great ancestor's old drunken haunts. HAHAHAHAHA Oh well, we live in America these days, and my accent is ruined forever. But, I love all my cousins over there.

  • She kicked ass. She was a true heroine. She was amazing. Imagine if she was here today. Body of a woman, heart of a king. I love that! Girl Power.

  • agree

    enticing.

  • ooo i likeed it!

    is that a mouse? lol

  • Yeah, she was the bomb! There has never been a better Queen in the history of all the earth.

  • It makes me proud to be English. God blew his winds and they were scattered, I bet he would let them take us now.

  • the scroll at 2:28 ain't correcto. England DID not become the chief world power in the immediate aftermath of the defeat of the spanish armada. She would be a major player but it would take until the reign of Queen Anne in the 1700s for England to really be the big cheese in the world which would last right up until the end of World War 1 in 1918

  • yes, infact Philip sent 3 more armadas to try and get rid of us lol!

  • a bit longer than WW1, we still controlled a quarter of the world in 1945 at which point the empire became the commonwealth and was slowly given independance

  • Fascinating personality........it's a great speech for the situation......inspiring courage and heaping foul scorn upon the enemy..........

  • I love her! She was such a good Queen it seemed like. I bought two books about her and I'm already on chapter 4 on one of them. God she's sooooo interesting!

  • is that a pet ferret with her in the painting???

  • It's and ermine.

  • ah thank you soo much, I was really hoping someone would rply

  • she used it as it symbolised virginity and purity as it had a pure white fur coat, in other portraits she uses Seives, pearls, eyes and ears sewn into the dress, swans and rainbows to put accross her connections to the Virgin Mary and classical goddess' such as Diana

  • a great queen.

  • A great Queen on the outside but her councillors carefully planned her public appearances and drafted her speeches, destproying paintings that showed her in a bad light and put people in gaol who criticised her regime whilst awarding those who praised her - she used the image of Gloriana to compensate her gender - women wee seen as inferior back then and seeing she was unmarried she had to appear to be 'above normal women' and emphasised her link to Henry VIII ' 'a king of england too'

  • Of course. But she was a marvellous actor.

  • Yes, I love Queen Elizabeth I..she is truly a hero and example that women have balls to rule the world.

  • not just balls but brains! :)

  • I may be an american and a guy but she is truly a hero of mine and a role model she is literally in my thoughts everyday 500 years ago or not she is someone to definitly look up to

  • Proud also to be a Protestant

  • "I know i have the body of a weak and feeble woman; but I have the heart and stomach of a king, and of a king of England too." - amazing. Proud Protestant from Belfast. Rule Britannia, God save the Queen.

  • I am not prejudiced or intolerant of any opinions, lifestyles, or identities differing from mine. I am proud of my heritage my religion and where I am from. There is nothing wrong with that.

  • I'm glad to know that

  • Omg in Essex!? I was born in Essex! I'm proud to be Protestant, and it's interesting to see how it all started, and who secured the roots of Protestants. And above all, makes me proud to be English. God Save The Queen!

  • This Queen had balls!

  • Diana princess of Wales and her tragic end that will no doubt be tunred into plays of the future?

  • And so have I. In short, assuming gets you no where. Thanks. :)

  • always deceitfully political, them english as the Amish and Menoites would say. However, I do think that a Spanish victory may have been more detrimental for the world. The Spanish were just as brutal as all western Europeans powers were. lust for gold and restless minds filled with conscienceless corruption - it continues.

  • Checking Wikipedia? That is probably what you did, considering you were the first to bring it up. There are those who own books on history, but you're just full of assumptions aren't you?

  • I'm American, but I know my European history, and more specifically, my English history quite well. No, I'm not ignorant or prejudiced or blind to Bush's false promises and lies. This was one of the greatest queens of all time who defied the oppressive Catholic church and wanted to stand up for her country, the reformed religion and herself as a queen in her own right. No woman has matched up to her yet in virtue and bravery after her yet.

  • every one was trying to assasinate her and yet she made england the most powefull country in the world she brought england into its golden age

  • a nice thought but england was very poor after this war, which ended after Elizabeth's death. i'm a history student and know that, though i like to think of her as gloriana her image was completely made up by her and her councillors to improve loyalty, and morale for what most percieved her to be, a weak female, she had to act as though she were a king and so could not marry to subscribe herself to a superior

  • Off all monarchs QE1 showed how false the Catholic church is. And was the monarch who shamed them the most. The Catholics introduced the dark ages. Elizabeth defeated them with light honoured by God.

  • One of the greatest queens in world history! Her and Cleopatra

  • Wow, we know what she sounds like now!

  • Funny how the videos posted by the real queen, who certainly is not my majesty, have comments disabled....I wonder why??

  • Great Queen

  • a Queen who did her duty for her people and ended the tyranny of the spanish tho it is a shame she was the last queen of the English *saluts her*

  • Spain sucks penis. There, I said it.

  • You people are all crazy. This happened 500 years ago! Sure England had pirates that preyed on the Spanish treasure fleets, ships that were filled with the gold the Spanish stole from the Indians they murdered. Back in Spain the Spanish were murdering Jews, burning them at the stake. The Spanish used to be the Nazis of Europe, but it is all ancient history now. You guys must be Europeans since you are still fighting 500 year old battles that mean NOTHING.

  • Weikang, in reference to the final lines in the video, England was actually quite impoverashed by the attempt Elizabeth made to build ships and create a standing army, England's victory achieved very little, apart from a morale boost Spain attempted to invade several more times but failed. England did not really become a great power until the late 1700's

  • thanks for the info. another good reason not to trust wikipedia!

  • I mean, it is far better to be written into the history books as the Queen who said "Let all our enemies live in fear" than the King who said "We must dwell in fear of a feral cave dweller". He's just some kind of a bad joke and America is too dumb to get the joke.

  • It is far better to be living free in an impoverished country than to be living as a corporate slave in a guilded cage. Impoverished financially, we may have been, but we still gave the world fine things like Shakespeare, and Magna Carta, while the pinnacle of the world's richest nation's achievement seems to be on the level of "The Flintstones". In fact, their obsession with feral cave dwellers has become legendary.

  • im not sure that the lower orders in that time would consider themselves 'free', particulaly the more devout catholics, and i wouldn't call the Hagia sophia, the Great wall of China, the Escorial and the art of Florence at the level of the 'Flintstones'.

  • You don't understand how a monarchy works, you you? She was our Queen and we were her people, and she defends the faith, that is her prerogative. But were all one, working together, and we became the very best, because of this speech; because she trusted us, and we trusted her. Now we have a government that doesn't trust us, and we don't trust them, but they are all Scots; they will never be English; they couldn't even begin to be English.

  • i am a historian, i know the monarchy very well. I think too many people overplay Elizabeth as 'Gloriana' but her image was a facade to gain support. The divions between Catholics and protestants was a very real one, but it was more the fear of Spain rather then unity in England that drove them to support her

  • Oh, if only she was here right now, to throw out all the traitor Catholics who take us on American crusades, and who deliver British Subjects, like Gary McKinnon, over to the American Inquisition. I know if she was alive, she would have had the courage to take us to war against Amerikkka, and I would serve her gladly.

  • Without taking sides in all of this would it be true to say that English (or British) have committed heineous crimes against other nations over the centuries? Do you think that these days the media is the principal tool of brainwashing?

  • Oh let me see now, there were 50,000,000 people throughout Europe, who were killed by the Spanish Inquisition, but our Queen stood up and told them to go to hell. Furthermore she stole their gold and it was used to fund the industrial revolution, freeing people the world over.

  • your wrong about the inquisition, from 1556-1598 (philip's reign), less then 300 were exeucuted. The Inquiisition was made up of 44 members, hardly the numbers to constitute mass oppression, and, Elizabeth did execute heretics as well, as did all monarchies in Europe

  • I"m with you on that brother,English forever.

  • normans!

  • do you know of all the English attacks on Spain: A coruña cadiz Menorca Tenerife?

Spain wanted to preserve the Catholic unity of Europe becuase Spain was fighting moors for 10 cent (see: Covadonga, Navas de Tolosa, Granada 1492, Lepanto, etc) and knew that was the biggest threat.

England only fought for England and her Majesty.

  • 'England only fought for England and her Majesty.'

    Sounds good to me.

  • And me. Why fight for god when you can become the nation of gods that really did inherit the earth for a couple of hundred years? Hey, Bush might blow us all to kingdom come but we can die happily, knowing that we are the elite, and the Yanks are just a poor imitation.

  • The English fought only for England and the Queen.and this is bad because...?

  • well you had Spaniards dying for centuries fighting moors and Turks in the Middle East, in the Adriatic Sea or in Viena (1529) ... for European Christianity.

Not "bad" your just a selfish people with a selfish history.

  • uh. people are selfish by nature, dumbass. philip of spain wanted to invade england because he didn't like the fact that queen elizabeth let the people of england have their own belifs. he was just sticking his nose where it didn't belong.

  • Never mind the fact that English "privateers" (pirates) had been raiding Spanish treasure ships for years, all under the approval of "Her Gracious Majesty"...

  • And the Spanish stole it from conqured Indians, who conqured it from other Indians, etc. So what is your point? The Spanish were using that wealth to kill protestants in Europe. The reformation, like it or not, allowed the scientific revolution to take place.

  • the spanish also stole the Portuguese naval power to attack england, when portugal was under a spanish king, fortunately spanish were kicked out of the country.

  • *you´re

  • and when were the Spanish ever our allies?as far as they were concerned we Protestant English were heretics only deserving of the fire, they tried to invade us and when that failed tried to murder our lawful Queen.

  • because spain was planning a huge bitch slap ... :)

  • wats the music?

  • Great speech... excellent!

  • "I know that I have the body of a weak and feeble woman but I have the heart of a king - and a king of England too."

  • very good vioce acting!

  • thanks!!!!!!!

  • I listened to this for my AP English Language and Composition Class, and it was a great help in understanding the meaning behind the "Speech to the Troops at Tilbury." The person who reads this has a wonderful voice, and the video was nicely put-together.
