Can't help thinkin' that I was only eight when they were doin' this - met Phil Lynott on Liffey street when I was 14 or 15 collecting for the Irish Wheelchair Association - gave me 50p when most were putting 2p or 5p max in the box - gave him a very corny high five but a nice memory all the same
Nice, very nice. It did seem as if some of the solo was missing (the trills). In any event, a cool glimpse into early Robbo/Gorham era Lizzy. Love it!
Admittedly my favorite stuff comes from "Phase 2" with Robo and Scott, but I think that "Phase 1" with Eric Bell is underrated. You can hear a lot of Phil's poetry in the earlier stuff. I do like Black Rose, but it seems that a lot of the life went out afterwards.
HE'S definitely got a temper on him. but he's eccentric i guess like a number of musicians of his stature. on the other hand Phil was just an angel....still is. rip i love you forever Phil.
'this jonny goes a-roamin oh' he sings it a few times in this live version. some of the things he sings, like words in the background durin a guitar solo don't ever seem to get included in lyrics. ask someone Irish to try & pick out words you can't make out!
Man I dont know for sure, but Lizzy songs like this, I cant help but think Stuart Adamson was a huge Thin Lizzy fan. This song almost sounds like Big Country would become!

Until I heard this song, all I thought when I heard Thin Lizzy was " The Boys Are Back In Town". This made me look deeper and now I'm a huge fan.
