  • You dont suck bro! the world need more people like you.

    Regards from Sweden.

A magic player back in the game...last played (1995)

  • i like the new format. the old format was amazing but if it takes alot of time and effort for something that your not proud of you shouldnt do it. keep doin what your doin. as long as you dont start talking about like... the one piece card game ill stick with you

  • Constructive feedback != positive feedback. When 4000 people say they hate the new format. Take that into consideration Evan.

  • Thanks for speeaking out towards the issues from 217 and the reformating of the show setup. 218 was a huge improvement and I am looking forward to see whats up your sleeve for the future. Best of luck Evan, I'll be along for the ride. Keep it up,

There really isn't that many outlets for entertaining information and talk about MTG and you definitely are on the right track. But I have to say some of the useless jokes and puns that were written in into 217, dont do that again. lol. I'm done! THX

  • I wasn't too thrilled by the first of the new format, but it wasnt bad. The new one is a huge improvement. One of things I must say, you have a great voice, man. Can listen to it regardless of the situation. No homo.

  • Look on the bright side, 400-ish "go die in a fire" messages mean 400-ish people lacking in communication skills still care about the show.

  • Evan i was one of the jerks who criticized you. I apologize. Some of the writing was a bit much and just less clever than how you used to be. I support you no matter what and will continue to watch the show!

  • Haters gonna hate, all I'm gonna say.

  • Fourteen people would rather tap their own cards.

  • Fourteen people would rather tap their own cards.

  • We know you can do it, Evan. Nothing goes perfect the first time, and I hope you got enough constructive feedback to be able to fine tune things. We all love the Magic Show, so don't lose faith! Tap those cards, Evan, because I really don't want to have to.

  • I admit, i dont know how the magic show was back then since i got in to it when m11 came out, but I dont mind ur new way of doing the show.

I also cant fathom as to why ppl would dislike this video. The guy is explaining what is going on. WHAT THE HELL IS THERE TO DISLIKE!!!!!!!!

  • Hataz gotta hate

You're doing a great job Evan

  • Thank you for reading your feedback and addressing it.

I have enjoyed The Magic Show for several years. While I am not pleased with the new format so far, I for one I will give you a chance to fine tune it.

  • I think the new format is fine but the biggest problem that I have with it is the writing staff! Everyone likes your writing style! why change it? The reason people liked the show was that it felt like it was a personal thing. As corny as it sounds you represented the "common" magic fan. If youre going to spend money on writing staff why not just use that money to have them edit the graphics for you? I feel like theres just no reason for it

  • You don't suck Evan, you're awesome, unlike Matteo. Please don't post his stuff on your channel anymoar!

  • honestly even though the new format did have it kinks, i actually enjoyed it :)

  • When, I watched the new format, Yes it was different, But I knew you were going somewhere and there is a process. You dont get everything right the first time, So I would just like to say your effort is appreciated and, I still stick with you through the process. Good Luck, Evan!

    GreenLing

  • Maybe we could get a little bit of both formats? Also, I would let the visuals do the joke telling rather than the host of the show (you Evan). If you have ever watched a web comedian named Angry Joe you'll see what I am talking about there. When it comes right down to it the magic community that follows you wants to hear you talk about the cards more than make jokes, that was the genius of the old format. It was factual auditory and comedic visually.

Thanks for taking the youtube heat.=]

  • Evan, you're the man. The new format may have its kinks, but as you said yourself, you're working through them, and that's what matters.

Personally, I'd like to see more of the innovative side myself. Reports of tournaments are great and all, but I know I don't just speak for myself when I say I watch the show primarily for the latest deck ideas, cards, and potential combos. There was some of that, but more would be awesome! Especially right now in spoiler season. :-)

    Keep up the good work!

  • i think a hybrid is the best option, when talking about cards and images i think it is definitely better to use the old format as that was all i was looking at either way, and when i did glance your way you seemed pretty awkward since you were just standing there talking. There is definitely a space to use the new live format like at the end when you do the little skit about wearing pants. I think that the show would be best with an intro/outro in the new format with the rest the old one.

  • new format would be alright with a bit of work but forget about the cohost unless he starts being exciting

  • Evan, UZ the man!!!!!!Many thanks for doing what you do. You got me hooked on this crazy game....Keep It up and I will always keep watching....Evan if you get a chance please see what is being done to get new players in the game. I do not believe there is enough being done to create a friendly environment for new players. For instance, in Wednesday and Friday Night Magic you are own and can easily get squashed in a draft by good players...Any ideas to fix this?????fordhuff

  • Haters gotta hate. I like the new format, liked the old format. Screw them and do the show you want to do, it's not like you owe anybody else anything (one advantage of doing a show for free!).

  • Really appreciate the effort you're putting into the show. Just give it some time and I'm sure you'll find your rhythm with the new show design. Looking forward to the next episode.

  • Chin up, dude!

I liked the new show just fine. :-)

  • Evan your new format has a lot potential to be better then the older shows. Don't listen to all those negative comments or let them get to you. People always fear change. Just keep doing what your doing.

  • Hey man, I for one appreciate your effort! Hope the modifications are a success, good luck.

  • oh well, IMO that you can keep some parts of the old part to be retained. Like you can comment with your voice as you feature cards or some events. Or you can show you're self on some parts of the episode where you'll be doing some combo-ish ideas.

  • i am excited to see Versions 2+ of that format... tho i must say, it really was very... odd to say the least.

  • Your show is fantastic ! in the internet age many can comment but few actually produce . Keep up the good work ;)

    gratz from greece

  • no need to apologize just keep on keepin on, disturbed sucks!!!

  • lol So typical. The trolls post negative feedback on what they don't like, and then ignore the response to their feedback. While I'm of the same opinion as most (I enjoyed the old format) I realize the new format is a WIP and will improve. My only actual issue was that given your stature, you COULD afford to wear a bit larger of a shirt. I've got the same problem, had to learn to wear a medium despite liking how smalls fit me.

  • well done evan. good to hear that this is still a work in progress. as many others have said before me, i enjoy the old format, but it was fun to see you in person as well. so i am looking forward where this will take the magic show. best of luck, i hope jou turn it into something great. like wizards did with jace. beleren -> mind sculptor

  • To go against the trend of super long messages ... You rock man!

  • What about the whole issue of 'drafting with Fucktard'???

  • Wow people are ruthless. Stay in the game Bud! You pwn at presentation! If people think they are owed some apology for you advancing your own product (show), then they should probably quit magic and go play a childs game that suits their maturity level.. like Naruto or Yugioh!!!! lololololol "Disturbed Sucks" *High Five*

  • Evan has been doing this for some time. He loves it and tries to do everything that will make the show better. All of us are used to the old way Evan presented the show. But we have to think right before we reach to a conclusion. That was his first show like that. Personally i liked it. But there is only one episode like that. So i will wait and see how things will work out. However, one thing is sure for me. I will not stop watching this show that has helped me so many times...

    Go on Evan!!!!!!

  • you don't suck, but the last video wasn't to great. better sound and less corny jokes from the writing staff would be a good fix imo. and i dunno why but i didn't warm up to the new guy.

  • I'm from México and I wanted to say that we love your job, over here. We respect very much what your doing and I know Is not easy to do. Just like you mentioned, your trying to do something new and better, but in order to get there you'll have to experiment a bit. I would like to see any of the people mentioning you sucked, to try to do an online program about any topic they can think about, I bet they would not have 1% of what you've done. Keep it like that, we'll continue enjoying your program

  • I'm all for the new format. As I commented on the other video, you just need to relax. It seemed you were a bit nervous/trying to hard to make the funny jokes funny and it seemed less than polished, but hey that's what happens when you start doing something new.

Keep at it and I'm sure you'll get this new format as clean, polished and as funny as the previous version.

  • Well here's what I thought of the new format. I think it could be great, but in that video it looked like you were trying too hard and over emphasizing what you were talking about.

Otherwise I like the new format you're trying out.

  • Keep doing what your doing Evan, people will talk down but don't have the balls or dedication to do what you do. You dedicate a lot of time on and off the magic show to bring us spoilers, updates, and some random facebook posts. Don't stop and ignore the tards

  • Evan, I love the show and no matter what you do I will continue to watch. I understand that there is a bigger picture and other things in your life so this free and wonderful video series has to follow a few rules made by you and your great sponser(s). There is a reason you have a ton of fans and haters, keep up the good work. Last thing, please keep doing the voice for the PRO TOUR finals coverage for WOTC. I am not a high level event MTG player but this show puts me right there in the action.

  • So the basic message is, "I know most of you hate the new format but I'm going to do it anyway." Don't tell me the Proffesors are going to put out a better show than Evan! I think you're making an obvious mistake changing the format. Your fans DON'T like it. You are opening yourself up to having the competition take over your gig. I hope you reconsider. Bing a good voice over guy is NOT the same as being a good actor. I want to see you succeed. Go back to what you do best or move on.

  • awsome memo man, thanks for the heads up, and im sure i speak for all of us and hope you dont burn in a fire, i htink this new direction is a good idea and wish you the best in it but also for the ideas of efficiency would you ever consider doing a podcast for starcity that all of us could dl onto our ipods. sure theres no visual, but your voice is cash and the content is therem it might even take less time, thanks for the constant dedication.

  • started watching you to begin with. We like the clever meme-backed jokes, even the corny ones. Please, for the love of all that is sacred, stop it with the bad jokes that simply make us cringe(e.g. the aforementioned Disturbed joke and the "E-dawg" bit).

This is from a former subscriber. I just came to your channel to see if Matteo had released a new draft, since that's pretty much all I had been coming to this channel for. If you want subscribers back, listen to the "trolls'" criticism.

  • Armor(swing for the fences, we all know it's horrible). Most people also don't want obviously bad jokes that aren't funny and only serve to alienate part of your followers(e.g. the Disturbed joke. Was it REALLY necessary to insult a band that I'm sure many of your listeners--me included--like, especially since the insult has no redeeming values? You would have been fine just leaving out the "Disturbed sucks" part ). Keep up the puns, those are great. Those are one of the reasons that I(cont)

  • with the advertising. It's a necessary evil so that you can get paid. I'm happy for you. That's not the whole problem, however. I don't want to watch an episode where half the episode is talking about a new rewards system for SCG Opens and the other half is you sucking up to Wizards and defending the obviously-broken Jace 2.0. Most people don't want you to point out ONLY the positive things on cards. You should acknowledge the crap. In fact, there's something waiting for you in Silverskin(cont)

  • No doubt you simply thumbed through any real criticism. Sure, the people who simply say "you suck" and "go die" are retards. We know this. However, there are many long-time fans(like me) that you most likely just passed over.

The problem is not with the format. The format is fine It's better than the old one. After all, not only can you add visuals via graphics, but you're also there to hit them home.

The problem, however, is the content. I'm not going to point out the obvious annoyances(cont)

  • people just like to go over the top with negative comments when it comes to youtube. if they don't like the smallest thing they treat like its baby murder.

  • Don't worry about the haters even. And thanks for listening, it really means alot!

I see what your doing with this idea and I'm sure in time it will be great.

  • Thanks for addressing us Evan. You didnt have to say anything but at least it shows that your open to feedback while keeping an open mind/ear to the viewers. Im looking forward to seeing how the show evolves from here and I want to see your thoughts on Besieged....Keep doing what your doing man!

  • Yes, well said Evan. Thanks for what you do, it's a shame that so many people have complained so harshly about your work just because it's not exactly what they want to see. Without you working so hard on it, there wouldn't be a Magic Show. Please don't forget that there are those of us out there who realize that, and we appreciate what you've done for the Magic community and our own personal enjoyment. Thanks.

  • I enjoyed the old format of TMS and while this is a work in progress, I am sure I will enjoy the new format as well. The reason TMS is so enjoyable and fun to watch does not singularly boil down to the way it is presented, but the fun and engaging personality of the host E.E. No matter what it's still an informative and entertaining service provided to us free of charge from the sweat and hard work of a fellow enthusiast of the hobby we all enjoy. Be thankful :)

  • @MurderScenePhoto It took me a minute to realize TMS meant "The Magic Show" and not "the Mind Sculptor".

I'm not sure if I should be feeling ashamed or proud.

  • Well said Evan! Can't wait to watch the next episode to see how the new equipment works out.

  • Considering my initial comment was kind of vague I guess i'll clarify now. There were a lot of problems with the new format but it doesn't mean it's a bad format. Brace yourself for MUCH more hate mail as the initial episodes of a new format are riddled with difficulties as you learn how everything works. The most glaring problems aside from the technical are the forced jokes and the talent you've picked up as a "co-host". No offense to the guy but some people are not meant for screen work :P

  • Serriously you get that much hate mail? I thaught it was pretty cool. O_o

  • I just wanted to say that, while the show may not be perfect, I really do enjoy it! Very much! Keep it up man :)

  • Keep up the good work Evan, if changing the way things are done makes it easier and less time consuming for you, then go for it buddy.

Looking forward to the next show. Rusty.

  • Haven't played magic in a while(or watched the show) but im sure it will be great

  • The biggest issue was probably the jarring change. The episode wasn't very good, but it was also the first attempt. You guys will become more comfortable in front of the camera and the writing and production will improve, so that's not too big of a worry. The most important thing is to continue delivering the same quality of content. As long as it remains at it's core a "Magic News Show", I think we can all put up with the growing pains involved in updating it.

  • Even your a great man and I love you. But you suck, rofl!

  • i started playing magic again and you and trick decide to turn a new leaf!

  • this is soooo much better u dont need any fancy equipment we watch because its good info thats helpful not cuz of any flashy stuff or funny jokes appreciate that ur adjusting for us and hope u dont have to commit so much time to "10 minute vidz" now

  • he was wearing pajama jeans

  • This gives me great hope for the future lets see how it turns out

  • Good on you for posting this Evan. I guess many of us just don't see the benefits of the new format yet. Because you were willing to post an honest response like this, and because your old show was so great, I think people will be willing to give the new format a chance. The challenge for you will be to show us what is so good about it.

  • Maybe a chilled out show like sitting on a couch with pro's, and keep the old format for event coverage :)

  • You know, people like to say that higher production values will make the new format better, but a better microphone, better green screen, etc. isn't going to do it.

It's the CONTENT. If a show's well researched and well written, it's going to grab my attention. I just want to know what's going on and be able to clearly see the cards on screen. Production value make a good concept better, but it doesn't make it. I promise you. I work in this field. This isn't broadcast, it's YouTube.

  • You suck so bad.

    Die in a fire.

Jk :3 but i liked the old format better.

Much more about content and much less about the funny quips.

  • i'm on the fence personally. Maybe we'll warm up to the jokes, the lines will flow smoother, yada yada yada. But as a personal request, I wanna see some of the non-generic music back. I mean you were doing fine with leaving the credits at the end, I don't see why we can't continue that, really adds a personal touch. All in all, best of luck bro

  • I find it hard to believe that a random person on youtube has the nerve to tear down someone who has worked their ass off in life to get where they are today and then decides to take the time to do something that is free and informative and all most people have to say are "you suck" well thats bullshit. I thank you very much evan and i hope you continue making your show for a long time to come. Continue making bad jokes because its part of the show. keep tapping those cards so we dont have to :)

  • and we all will watch this and the interviews that you put up. They were great, real in depth magic stuff. But it seemed like the last magic show just "showed" us the cards not what they can do and what i means or how it may be redefining for a deck type. Or how living weapon makes equipment more attractive because it's not a dead top deck. Looking forward to this next magic show and your thoughts on the cards just not what they do and magic puns that kinda... get annoying.

  • sell out

  • I like that you posted this in response to all the flame in that last magic show. Yeah the post from Volcre kinda hit it dead on. Alot of the jokes were just... bad. I like a few magic related jokes but that was too many and alot were just flat bad. I like when you would say what this card could do and thoughts from a very experienced and strong magic player or what new decks are messing up formats or redefining them. Not just "ban survival and keep JTMS' seems like chapin talking.

  • Props to you man, many people fear change not realizing the benefits, keep doing your thing dude and Im excited to see what you have for us in the future

  • You didnt suck, it was a new thing, as i said before i have no doubt that you will get it right in the future. baby steps and all :) GL.

  • I like the new format. Being interactive with the video and the people watching it has the potential to be amazing.

    Pro Tip:

    - Stop touching random parts of your body while talking.

    - Tuck in your shirt (unless pants are optional) =)

    - Try not to stare at the cue-cards, it's annoying.

The vids are always amazing Evan. Keep it up and keep making them better then the last one.

  • i have a little thing to say, i just saw your deckbuilders toolkit unboxing and building, and i found it interesting. and i am new to magic. i have played two times at a FNM and i think its fun. but i always end up getting owned and stuff. i see that. i know that it takes "pratice" too know good setups etc etc. so i wonder if you have any good tips on what to focus on in drafting etc. i would really apreaciate response

(sorry for bad english, i try but... im norwegian)

  • I am not sure what was wrong with the old format that you want to change. I liked how the focus was always on big images of cards or on the interviewee, with just your voice guiding things along. People have commented on the jokes and delivery. I suggest the writing was not below par last show, but when we are watching you trying to present in person, the audience is more critical. When you are a presenter, you need to have a strong visual presence; you may need to stick to narration.

  • dude just go back to the old way

  • Keep at it and eventually you and your writers will get the presentation style down.

  • Thanks for this honest message.

I love the show, and understand that you're experimenting with new things. Don't mind the haters, and keep doing what you do. You'll always have a following. Keep up the good work.

  • You need a hybrid, kinda like the weatherman. Point at your graphics and stuff

  • Well Evan, I fell in love with your show once, I can do it again; no one recommended the magic show to me, I just saw it one day and knew it was good. Is your new format different than what we're used to? Of course, and of course we'll be hesitant to flock to. But are the limitations on it less than of the old format? I think so. I think that regardless of where the new show is now (it was only the first episode for pete's sake!), I think the magic show was given more room to grow overall

  • The new format wasn't terrible, the problem was the writing, and you failing your arms about like a mad man. It was distracting, and silly. Looked like something someone made for a high school project. Tone it down a bit, fire your writing staff, and just be yourself. :) That being said, old format was drastically better, and as long as you keep posting those awesome interviews, the show will remain subscribed to.

  • my problem with the new format was...no offense but I find u funnier when i dont see u.

  • I think the best would be to bridge the gap between the old and new. Something as simple as you sitting at an anchorman's desk with a green screen behind you with all the jokey images still appearing kinda like news flashes. Just an idea, take what you will from it. I agree with everyone else that the new one was not too successful, but it can be refined like you said. Good luck, and looking forward to seeing what you can give us this week. :)

  • Evan, no problem with the new format. Don't forget to dig down on the cards with your normal fun analogies and pop culture references!

  • this puts the last show into perspective: I thought last show took much more effort and time to produce and it didn't make the show better, so continuing this would not have been benefical. But if this works better for you and the shows quallity is going to increase over time than this is ofcourse fine.

A final request: no more of topic jokes, more about actual magic

  • You do a hell of a good job in all your videos. Ignore all the douche bags out there (there are a lot). Keep it up bro!

  • Evan is awesome. People don't understand how much time goes into making a video like Evan's. I make videos myself and a 10 minute video with all kinds of still images and scenes takes forever to edit together, not to mention finding the source materials. I'm glad you found a way to make it less time-consuming so you can work on bigger things, just don't forget about the Magic Show... keep it going, keep it awesome and I'll keep watching for as long as you're making videos.

  • Seriously though, you're awesome. I know the new format is going to improve with time. even though the last episode was flawed, it was still the same Magic Show ... um... magic ^_^

  • hey, i was positive. I like you.

  • "I'm in my Basement"

Trying to hide from all that negative feedback?

  • I am looking forward to seeing what u will do next. WOuld like to hear more about your play and how u r doing!

  • From my observations, the two issues that people rant about the most are resistance to change, and the perception that you have become a small cog in the Star City Games media machine. Probably not much can be done to change either of those things given that the complainers will complain regardless of attempts to placate them.

Glad to hear that new audio gear's been brought in to get rid of that annoying humming sound.

  • Honestly, if you did it with more info and less corny joke action, I wouldn't mind it. More talk about the good and bad of cards/decks, etc. Less "MC Koth of the Hammer".

  • ...more time to adapt ;)....

  • Let me start by thanking U for all the great efforts in the last years...but you're probably right, your audience needs

  • Just go back to the old method..its a magic I dont need to see your face to understand how great things are and the sound OH GOD THE SOUND like a horde of digital wasps in my ear

  • Evan, this is the type of dialogue your new show needs. Throw out the script and just be real like you are here!

  • This was much better than the last show.

  • The new show is very cool, it just needs a bit of shaping up and a little loosening up. Would love to see more deck tech in the show as it seems to be, as of the past few shows, a promotion for SCG. Which is understandable considering they are your backers, but sometimes its nice to talk about the cards that make the companies instead of just the coorperations. Thanks Evan for giving us the time and dedication of a great magic vlog

  • I thought this new system was pretty interesting, and i think alot of these people are used to commercial TV or something because i'm not sure they see how much effort you put into each of these segments. Aside from the scrappy look of the edge of the table during ep 217, i do have 1 major suggestion is: Since you are way too busy... KlotzProductions posts gameplay regularly of standard, draft etc and his editing is equivalent to your ep 96a. try working with him!

  • More episodes from the basement!!!!

plus you should probably tape most of it sitting down, that way you don't have to wear pants.

  • evan, you know you are gonna get some hate no matter what you do, dont let it get to you...criticism is one thing, flat-out bashing is another...trying new things is always a good idea

  • I'm glad you're sticking to your guns, Evan. This new format is something that will let you keep up your work with SCG and your family, which is more important than all the fans and all the acclaim from the unwashed masses. I'm glad you got that audio equipment so that you can get that awful white noise out that was in the first video.

  • This may be awful or it maybe awesome, but it already kinda felt a lot like a news show. Why not aim to make it more like one? You even apparently seem to have a co-host right now. Haters gotta hate, though I will admit that I found the lack of lolcats on other various macros a little disappointing. The show doesn't need to go overboard with them if it causes too much time constraint, but a few hear & there would give it more of an old school magic show feel.

  • don't worry! i had a lot of fun watching the new format. things take time to evolve...the first couple of Magic Shows were a bit rough too!

  • hire a writer for your jokes and script, the progress of the dialogue was awkward and forced.

  • I think the new format is great, it gives a little bit more of interaction with your audience, however it still needs improvement of course, it is the first time you try this and it is fine, after all this IS a free show you give to all the magic fans and at least I thank you for it. Hoping to see how this new format develops, I wish you the best of luck.

    Regards from Chile :)

  • Love your show! Keep up the good work!!!

  • While I don't think that the last episode was all that great, I do think it's a good idea that you try to find a way to get these videos out more quickly (more content for the ravenous crowd).

As many have said, having you sit down would help a lot as a full body shot often makes the person in the shot look uneasy.

Another technical note, do all the greenscreen work separately before you do fades and such so that you don't get that flickering background whenever you change shots.

    Good luck!

  • i thought it was ok... but like u said, it was a new start and it is always rough... but i like the new one.. it is goofy and fun, but needs improvement of course. keep up the good work though! Enjoy it alot!

  • I liked the change, it was fun and engaging.

  • why not just make another show? sounds like some people like the old format and others the new one. so why not make it into 2 shows instead? anyone agree?

  • new format improvements:

1-try to talk to us while your sitted down (it gives more space for subtitles and images and your not dancing back and forth)

2- place the lines youve got to read closer to the camera

    3- improve the background

hope you read all the feedback :P

    till next week

  • What ever you do, is gold man. People are afraid of change. They will get used to it.

  • I don't know why people were so anal. I though it was great to see you =)

  • While I wasn't thrilled with the new format, i must say, wanting someone to die in a fire for changing the format of a freely available show seems like a slight overreaction...

  • Well when you bring up the spoilers they should be clear enough to read and don't expect ppl to know them. I use your show as a way of knowing the good ones.

  • You have got to break eggs to make an omelet and sometimes you have to take risks for a more rewarding end product. There will always be people who will moan and complain if they are given something to do so about. It was a mediocre first episode, I'll admit, but it will only take time before this one is as good as the previous format. Keep on moving forward, man.

  • I liked it....Keep kicking ass Evan, and piss on the trolls

  • so magic show is just going to turn into channelfireball's magic tv, except instead of LSV, we have evan's insight? i mean i guess thats fine.. as long as it isn't actively painful to watch, i still will.

  • what ever makes you happy evan.

  • Good job Evan! Good luck with it all. Don't let the haters get you.

  • I get that the old format was a rather time consuming one, but it was also a very action packed and entertaining one for that very reason, and in this case I'm afraid you're changing a winning recipe. If you can't find the time to do it then so be it, but personally I'd prefer the old format fortnightly than this format weekly.

And yeah, +1 for a more critical approach. Not every card is good; Wizard deliberately made it so.

  • I like most people was used to the old format but, i understand what you are trying to do. There will always be people who don't like change. I like the way you're going and that was only the first attempt so there's plenty of room for improvement. You rock Evan. So keep at it and like always keep tapping those cards so we don't have to because we are lazy.

  • I think what Evan did last show was just an evolution in his creative process. I understand not everyone liked the new format but I think that's mostly because it isn't as refined and polished as the previous one.

Only criticism is yeah, some of the jokes were a bit hokey but other than that I think all Evan needs is more time in front of the camera to get used to it.

    Good Luck Evan

  • This format is better than your new format.

  • In my opinion, I guess you're good at what you do in the old format. But hey, let's see what happens with improvements on the new format. Good luck to you. I'm looking forward to your next show.

  • id be happy In retropect I think alot of use are just happy with a card on the screen with some witty pic to go along with whats saying (not that before writing a scrips could take up to 5 hours)

  • Keep up the good work.

  • well if the new way is less work for you, then im just fine with the change.

  • Good luck improving the new format!

I hope you reach a quality similar to the previous format (which itself wasn't great at the beginning actually!)

Btw, can you harass Patrick Chapin and Matt Sperling to make them continue their show? I loved it!

  • Good on you Evan. Being under public scrutiny is never easy so it's great to see you taking it so well.

Best wishes for this exciting adventure :)

  • I think both the old and new formats of the magic show are awesome. As long as you're there tapping the cards so we dont have to I'll be there to watch you - keep up the good work man!!!!!!!

  • you weren't wearing pants were you?!?!?! knew it.

  • I think one of the main problems was the jokes. Like it's been already said, they were hit and miss and while the occasional humorous text comment does lighten up the show, trying to turn this into Magic stand-up hour isn't what we're looking for. You don't have to be serious all the time, but Magic is a technical game and I think a lot of us are looking for technical analysis.

  • @Volcre Brah if you want technical analysis go read some article at StarCity, Evan is the MOFO man ! He is funny and his show has a good blend of comedy and light analysis. If you want to know what % of games you will win because you have thoughtseize and manaleak in your opening hand, go some place else ! although occasionally his shows do have this type of technical analysis.

  • Now this is really good, I love the fact you give some of the reasons. Honestly, I think it is going in the best direction as possible. As long as you are possible to make a show every week I think it is fantastic. There will always be haters.

  • you rock, and you are doing this very well,i really like the new format

and i cant wait till your next video

  • sometimes (and i know this from personal experience) it's hard to remember while watching videos online on our computers, that the people in the videos and creating the videos, are "real" people.

no idea if that makes sense. . .but yeah, i really liked this video. reminded us that you're "real".

you take care of yourself man.

  • Screw the haters. Do what you have to do Evan that lets you grow and works for you. Thankyou for the years of free entertainment :)

  • I like your show,, the almost scripted but very random feel to your comments on Magic were refreshing, it was strange to see you working from a script you yourself hadn't written, and if you had, it felt like you were trying to act far too much. If you could be the way you were with the old Magic Show format, on camera then hell, you have a recipe for some very good stuff. Whilst I did like the old t and miss it, an incorporation of the new and old could prove to be wonderfully interesting.

  • I like your show, especially the very, very, very long interviews. I don't get why people flame you because you made some minor change. The content is much more important than the format of the show.

  • That's what makes you great - you listen to (or read) the comments. More power and keep improving!

  • By MY basement, he means MOM'S basement.

  • Honestly it's allright, just don't do the akward scripted jokes. Don't write everything out, just like make out keywords what you want to talk about.. don't write every word out cause that'll just come over wrong..

  • See, when you're talking here you're all relaxed and great to listen to. It's when you try and plan too much that it sounds bad. Otherwise it was good.

  • I like this format. Evan from the basement. No bad jokes, friendly chatting and so on. Make this your new format. ;)

  • hey again Evan. thought i'd add to my comment on your previous video by saying a couple of things.

    1) you're a funny, enthusiastic guy. capturing this through your videos will be what makes them the most successful. its your fun-loving nature that gives your videos their edge, but also the natural delivery of that quality. if it feels more natural (i.e. less scripted), you're going in the right direction.

    2) the format is less important than the content. good content = interested viewers.

  • Evan ur still a good guy and great at what you do man...This will be the only magic show i watch :)

Come check out some STARCRAFT2 non faggot Casts in my channel If you're bored...peace

  • Not saying looking at was the problem, I just want to look at the cards. Overall it was bad and I hope u can make it better

  • evan, the old format was pretty awesome, but we didn't really see you as a host of the show, just the voice. The new format of the show totally changes the perception of you as the host/creator of the show. Its also nice to see some tournament coverage from scg. On the other hand, you do look sorta sloppy, so maybe dress a bit more formal, or at least wear something distinguishable like tsg wearing hockey jersey from different teams

  • All understandable and thank you for the information.

  • thanks for giving us the time to update us on what is happening and keep with the new format im sure u will sort the lights n audio out it will take a few eps to sort it i would of thought i mean do u have a lighting engineer with a degree and years of exp or a sound tec with the same. these things take practice keep at it u will sort it

  • Actually, Evan, this is kind of cool to see you just talk into the camera. Maybe I'm old fashioned, but I don't need flashy graphics, I want to hear honest to goodness content, and that's what you are doing here. You have a message and are directly relating that message to us, which is more effective than any props, pre-written gags or googled images.

  • why not just do the magic show like this vid? no green screen etc, just have the cards pop up when you talk abot them like when you did the game matches for the pro-tour, this feels may more personal and heart-felt and you have better sound quality like this than in the studio you used

  • we dont think you suck evin just dumb trollers do ive bin a long time fan since the erly 70ep's i think any way i think most of your fans wish you would go back to the old format and manly becuse were afrade of change.but any way good luck with the show hope you find somthing that works that you enjoy and that we enjoy lol.ps dont rely on others to script your jokes your jokes and lil shmup pics were funny enuff as it is :)

  • @togethergutlesss btw sorry for miss spellin ur name lol was never good at spellin names *Evan*
