i have a question... i am currently 15 and i have always liked tuning cars but what will make me more money automotive or diesel? that answer will most likely decide my path
Hi @battfieldsniper1! Not sure I have that answer for you, but I'm sure one of our Admissions Representatives could give you more insight on those industries and our employment rates.
Hi @805luis805! Cost of tuition depends on which program you are interested in and if you want to take any of our electives (for example, Ford FACT, Nissan NATT, Mercedes-Benz STARt, etc.). Have you talked to one of our Admissions Representatives, yet? I strongly suggest giving one of them a call and they'll be able to assist you with our application process and go into specific detail about cost. Their phone number is 800.834.7308!

@Rich4life69 Around here, there are MANY people with degrees from the University of Texas working as supervisors at Burger King, a bank teller, and even someone at the family dollar down my street. What THIS and what YOU'VE said prove is that the world doesn't try for people who don't try. That doesn't mean that everyone from the University of Texas ends up in this situation, and that means the same for people from UTI. They both can have great outcomes depending on the stride of the individuals
@Rich4life69 I don't doubt your information, but it actually applies to every other school out there. Also, you didn't answer any of my questions. I understand though, because if someone did make it into the Porsche program, I'm pretty sure messing around on youtube isn't on their to do list lol. I KNOW for a fact that just like people who attend other colleges/vocational/tech schools, there are people with amazing success stories. The people who worked their asses off the whole way.
@Rich4life69 Here's the thing... Instead of going to Brakemasters asking for UTI students, look around places like Wal Mart and fast food restaurants, you'd be surprised at how many people said they have a degree from a university or at least been to college. My point is, all schools these days are horrible. I attend a University of Texas, and the staff are useless and just as unprofessional, and the students are there only because they were brainwashed to, not out of want.
*** Is there ANYONE here that finished the program with excellent grades and attendance? Who managed to make it into the Porsche program? Or even the BMW program? ... Or does anyone know someone who has?.... I have a bad feeling that everyone bashing on the school either didn't finish or did poorly academically and have poor work ethic. ***
i'm thinking about enrolling into auto mechanics at UTI after i graduate, but from the look of the comments, it's not looking so hot. should i just enroll for a class at a votech school now since i'm a sophmore?
Give one of our Admissions Conselors a call at 800.834.7308, @beckyf5299! You can also attend one of the many open houses our campuses, too! Find out more information on our events page.
I was thinking about going to this school to take their course in diesel mechanics so is this the right place to pursue this career or would I be better of going to Houston community college that offers the same program any help or advice would be great thanks.
UTI should begin investing in electric automobile technology. I say so because the future will be electric. Nissan and Chevrolet has discovered a way to build an electric car that charges itself while you drive.
@j19527 i feel sorry for idiots like you who only cair about a career for money. if thats the case i can easily go and get my masters to be a chemical engineer but why should i? people have a passion for cars and love working on them and the majority of these students dont cair for the money they just simply enjoy it. so feel sorry for your self because maybe what youre doing, (if your doing anything with your life) is a waste of time and is probably something you hate doing... UTI here i come.
umm im goin to uti in pa any good advice any1 cause i dont no anything bout cars i wanna no if they teach you ground up cause im willing to learn everythin dere is 2 no bout carz plz reply im really interested in dis school
It's actually a really good school. Most people that complain about it are the ones that didn't even really wanna go in the first place and those who didn't give it a chance. Grad date 12/23/10.
hi everybody here says that is a very expensive school, is that true?? how much?? and i want to know when the courses start, well how often, once a year or what cause i want to study there but i have little doubts. thanks
uti is great! i started their april 19 2010 and so far im on my second course. its great. you meet a lot of cool ass people. and the instructors are awesome. they know theyre stuff. l if anyone wants to go there i seriously recommend it. its worth every penny. you can go to another school but you wont have the same credentials you get at uti. dont let other guys fool when they say its not worth it.
i am goin to uti right now in the sacramento campus and all i could say is that its a great school, i didnt kno a lot about cars before i came here but now i know how to rebuild a tranny and ive only been here for a coupl months, im taking the auto diesel program and its great and fun, i would reconmend this school if ur really into it, there are ALOT of dumbass at this school lol and there the ones writing the bad stuff about this school.
@ELGALLO650 i hear wyo has a better hot rod program then we do..but i cant complain on the 250-400hp motors we build at my school UTI..uti is better dude you get your moneys worth, sometimes it will feel like your not but trust me it is. wyotech is full of retards.
well im want to go to uti, but want to go to a community collage first, the only uti is in florida, anyone from that school can tell me is it worth it cuz i really love cars and i want to open my own garage one day
I'm a freshman in southeast Iowa and I wanna go to one of thees campuses but idk witch one I love orlando but I'd get homesick because I'm a smalltown boy but I wanna be a macanic like I love to tinker with cars and I do free oil changes if the people buy the stuff but I wanna do more but lac the skills. I'm just thinking about my future a lilbit because I need to get ready for life and stuff and there's allways a promising job as a macnic. But I can't figure out witch place to go to!!
@RappidFire789 Dont limit yourself to one thing. Thats unwise, you need to be like the guy from that beer commercial, " I dont always drink beer, but when I do........I drink dos'ques.'
hmm.wats so bad?details if you can.i do have an alternative mechanic school 20 min from me as opposed to 2hrs but less formal than this.but its just as long(just over a year) and can give me the basic skills
im strongly considering going to this school cuz i have a liking for cars and always wanted to do work on my car,but i lack the skills so maybe if i go here i will be able to do work on my car and others
ok heres the thing i live in another country and i want to go there but 1 idk a shit load about cars a know alittle bit but thats it. And 2 idk how to even try to get started. Can u help me out or at least point me in the right direction
yea ill help you, google universal technical institute and it will tell you where our campuses are located, im in orlando, its the flagship school. but call up the preferred campus and ask to speak with administration and they can help you with all the info you need. but one thing is they hype it up way to much we do a lot of book work and lecture before we hit lab for a day or two. but uti can help you find housing and work. its a good school.
@PrescriptionSeven well i have a few but my main concern is once u become an automotive technician. like around how much would u be getting payed once u have a job and your career started. and did u use a back loan to pay uti??
@Gilbert201213 yes, i have a loan out..uti can help you find work before and after you finish school. loans usually have 10 years to pay off. when you get started as a tech you can get paid by the hour..but usually its flat rate like maybe 10-20$ /hr so if a if the tech flat rate bible says a job is 3.5hrs and you get 15 bucks a hour thats 52.50$ even if you finish in 1 hour. so you can easily get paid for 80hrs a week but only workn 30-40..but pay is all different those are just examples man.
@Gilbert201213 pfft..uti dude..wyo is lame..they may have a better hot rod class then we do, but all around uti kills wyotech..but if you wanna put all your money into one class then go ahead..uti is well worth it.
@PrescriptionSeven haha. yea many people tell me that. but i still haven't made up my mine. hopefully I'll make up my mine before i get out of school.
@Gilbert201213 true, well good luck..i know uti is revamping their classes in 2 years, so what i know now, will be completely different next year.. so if you wanna wait 1 or 2 years you may have the upper hand on us guys.
you get financial aid. so the goverment helps you out with your loans. and when you graduate you have 6 months to start paying off your loans. and as far as wges go, it all depends on were you start working. when you leave the school youll be an entry level technician making anywhere from 17 dollars an hour to 25 dollars an hour. but you move up in positions about 10 times faster than a guy that didnt go to uti. its worth every penny. i recommend you go.
yea they can help you..a few time a week the people who are in charge with the employment services come in my class and ask if anyone needs help finding a job or you can go straight to their office. they help build a resume and set up interviews at the campus. so most likely your bro is just lazy.
im graduating this year and thinking about going to this school. but what i want to do to a car is what you would see in a magazine like Import Tuner and Super Street. i saw there nissan hybrid in Modified too. but what im asking is Do they teach you how to build a car like you read about it Import Tuner? or is that something you just kinda learn to do your self.
they have hot rod 1 and 2 its 6 week course together i believe where you blue print a v8 and test them with nitrous, superchargers, and turbos then drop them into a tea bucket and dyno them(my buddies group in hot rod 2 is pushing about 480hp i think.) and also there is a super street class its not about imports it teaches you about street legal mods. we have a yellow 5.0 in our lobby i was told its pushing about 800-1000 hp.
can someone please explain to me what the difference is between hot rod, toyota, audi, ford and what not classes are, I really want to join soon. Also UTI has dorms don't they because I live about 3 hours away from one and dont feel like doing the commute everyday
Do they teach you how slimey dealerships can be? How to hose the consumer 101? Looks like a great program, there are some messed up dealerships and garages out there. Any body every go to this school? share. Im diggin it indeed.
hey guys, ive been going to college trying to find something i like and so far everything bores me. but theres a few things that i just absolutely love! thats cars, building stuff, and technology! so a few friends have told me i should look into UTI since they know i love that kind of stuff. it seems AWESOME!
I feel like i dont know much about cars (even though i own a 06 WRX STi lol), but will UTI turn me into a good auto tech? And is it really easy to find work after you graduate?
Being that I am a recent grad as of 12,4,09, I can say I enjoyed my time at UTI. You get somewhat attached to the school and the people you work with. I had lots of fun, the work is easy and 1 on 1 help is no problem. I graduated from the NTI (Nascar Tech Inst) Which is still owned by UTI. They offer a Nissan/Infiniti course and Ford course. They also offer a nascar course. I took the Nissan course and I got a job the very next week after graduating.
@88soulsurvivor hey i wanted to ask u question i am thinking of going to uti for the nissan program now i hear alot of good thing but i also hear alot bad thing so i wanted to ask u is it worth the money and time and is it true that they help u find a job and what is rate of pay .
@west93 NO but housing isn't a problem people are always looking for a roomate. You will graduate with a good understanding of how things work and you will learn so much more when you get out in the field.
@RageSTi06 Its very easy to fing work, provided that the economy is not choking businesses.
You need to match ALL not some, but ALL of your abilities, skills, and interests to your career. You dont build cars being a mechanic, thats what assembly line workers do. You find problems with cars, thats it. You fix them anf allow them to perform better. You only have one interest in common with this field and that is technology,
ill be starting December 7th 2009 at the mooresville campus, i am Soooooo excited, for anybody saying they cant afford it i have absolutely NO money and i am gonna be doin this on my own, they work around that if you really want to attend this school, you have to pay a registration fee of $100 and i believe a couple more things but basically like $200 to get started, good luck to anybody thinkin of persuing the same thing =)
Hey i have been in auto collision all my high school year and recently graduated this past may, and i am realy good at it. I wanted to enroll in UTI but since i am a girl my family thinks something bad could happen since most people that attend that school are guys.... what do you all think??
no you shouldn't worry about that all the guys there hopefully should be professional it's a top notch school I'm hoping to attend this school next year once i get out of high school and i think you should have a craxk at it tell your parents everything should be fine if it's something you love you should be fine.

They both can have great outcomes depending on the stride of the individuals
monkeespit 8 months ago
That's not a bad thing, and it doesn't prove anything.
monkeespit 8 months ago
@Rich4life69 I don't doubt your information, but it actually applies to every other school out there. Also, you didn't answer any of my questions. I understand though, because if someone did make it into the Porsche program, I'm pretty sure messing around on youtube isn't on their to do list lol. I KNOW for a fact that just like people who attend other colleges/vocational/tech schools, there are people with amazing success stories. The people who worked their asses off the whole way.
monkeespit 8 months ago
@Rich4life69 Here's the thing... Instead of going to Brakemasters asking for UTI students, look around places like Wal Mart and fast food restaurants, you'd be surprised at how many people said they have a degree from a university or at least been to college. My point is, all schools these days are horrible. I attend a University of Texas, and the staff are useless and just as unprofessional, and the students are there only because they were brainwashed to, not out of want.
monkeespit 8 months ago
*** Is there ANYONE here that finished the program with excellent grades and attendance? Who managed to make it into the Porsche program? Or even the BMW program? ... Or does anyone know someone who has?.... I have a bad feeling that everyone bashing on the school either didn't finish or did poorly academically and have poor work ethic. ***

UTI should begin investing in electric automobile technology. I say so because the future will be electric. Nissan and Chevrolet has discovered a way to build an electric car that charges itself while you drive.
heartlessvietboy 1 year ago 2
@heartlessvietboy meh i doubt we will switch to electric anytime soon...
shadowace421 11 months ago
Why not? The Chevrolet Volt has been released. $.02 cents a mile. $4.00 to fill up.
heartlessvietboy 11 months ago
"Switching" to electricity isn't difficult or time consuming. It's just a matter of our Government pushing forward the electric car revolution.
heartlessvietboy 8 months ago
@heartlessvietboy yea thats exactly what im saying lol. we wont switch anitime soon because of just how the government is. That and the economy.

UTI here i come.

yea ill help you, google universal technical institute and it will tell you where our campuses are located, im in orlando, its the flagship school. but call up the preferred campus and ask to speak with administration and they can help you with all the info you need. but one thing is they hype it up way to much we do a lot of book work and lecture before we hit lab for a day or two. but uti can help you find housing and work. its a good school.

Gilbert201213 1 year ago
@Gilbert201213 yea im still, im actually finishing up my vaca but w/e..whats up buddy?
PrescriptionSeven 1 year ago
@PrescriptionSeven well i have a few but my main concern is once u become an automotive technician. like around how much would u be getting payed once u have a job and your career started. and did u use a back loan to pay uti??
Gilbert201213 1 year ago
@Gilbert201213 yes, i have a loan out..uti can help you find work before and after you finish school. loans usually have 10 years to pay off. when you get started as a tech you can get paid by the hour..but usually its flat rate like maybe 10-20$ /hr so if a if the tech flat rate bible says a job is 3.5hrs and you get 15 bucks a hour thats 52.50$ even if you finish in 1 hour. so you can easily get paid for 80hrs a week but only workn 30-40..but pay is all different those are just examples man.
PrescriptionSeven 1 year ago
@PrescriptionSeven dam. well thanks a lot man. now i need to find out whats better wyo tech or uti.
Gilbert201213 1 year ago
@Gilbert201213 pfft..uti dude..wyo is lame..they may have a better hot rod class then we do, but all around uti kills wyotech..but if you wanna put all your money into one class then go ahead..uti is well worth it.
PrescriptionSeven 1 year ago
@PrescriptionSeven haha. yea many people tell me that. but i still haven't made up my mine. hopefully I'll make up my mine before i get out of school.
Gilbert201213 1 year ago
@Gilbert201213 true, well good luck..i know uti is revamping their classes in 2 years, so what i know now, will be completely different next year.. so if you wanna wait 1 or 2 years you may have the upper hand on us guys.
PrescriptionSeven 1 year ago
@Gilbert201213
you get financial aid. so the goverment helps you out with your loans. and when you graduate you have 6 months to start paying off your loans. and as far as wges go, it all depends on were you start working. when you leave the school youll be an entry level technician making anywhere from 17 dollars an hour to 25 dollars an hour. but you move up in positions about 10 times faster than a guy that didnt go to uti. its worth every penny. i recommend you go.
AmericanCarnage 1 year ago
@AmericanCarnage I thought entry level was general service, and making 8.00-15.00$ an hour. Care to rebuttle?
j19527 1 year ago
@garygaskins nah, i live by seaworld, its like a 5 min drive to school
PrescriptionSeven 1 year ago
yea they can help you..a few time a week the people who are in charge with the employment services come in my class and ask if anyone needs help finding a job or you can go straight to their office. they help build a resume and set up interviews at the campus. so most likely your bro is just lazy.
PrescriptionSeven 2 years ago
They dont teach you to be a flat rate tech and how to fight tooth and nail for every tenth of and hour on your paycheck.

im graduating this year and thinking about going to this school. but what i want to do to a car is what you would see in a magazine like Import Tuner and Super Street. i saw there nissan hybrid in Modified too. but what im asking is Do they teach you how to build a car like you read about it Import Tuner? or is that something you just kinda learn to do your self.
bigjakey1 2 years ago
they have hot rod 1 and 2 its 6 week course together i believe where you blue print a v8 and test them with nitrous, superchargers, and turbos then drop them into a tea bucket and dyno them(my buddies group in hot rod 2 is pushing about 480hp i think.) and also there is a super street class its not about imports it teaches you about street legal mods. we have a yellow 5.0 in our lobby i was told its pushing about 800-1000 hp.
PrescriptionSeven 2 years ago
that the students built.. so by the time you graduate from there youll know how to build tuners, and muscle cars.
PrescriptionSeven 2 years ago
can someone please explain to me what the difference is between hot rod, toyota, audi, ford and what not classes are, I really want to join soon. Also UTI has dorms don't they because I live about 3 hours away from one and dont feel like doing the commute everyday

hey guys, ive been going to college trying to find something i like and so far everything bores me. but theres a few things that i just absolutely love! thats cars, building stuff, and technology! so a few friends have told me i should look into UTI since they know i love that kind of stuff. it seems AWESOME!
I feel like i dont know much about cars (even though i own a 06 WRX STi lol), but will UTI turn me into a good auto tech? And is it really easy to find work after you graduate?
RageSTi06 2 years ago
Being that I am a recent grad as of 12,4,09, I can say I enjoyed my time at UTI. You get somewhat attached to the school and the people you work with. I had lots of fun, the work is easy and 1 on 1 help is no problem. I graduated from the NTI (Nascar Tech Inst) Which is still owned by UTI. They offer a Nissan/Infiniti course and Ford course. They also offer a nascar course. I took the Nissan course and I got a job the very next week after graduating.

@88soulsurvivor what UTI college did you attend? Like the state and city
mrjobbs 1 year ago
@88soulsurvivor Im not surprised. There is ALWAYS a demand for mechanics especially with an education. (As they say.)
j19527 1 year ago
@RageSTi06 Its very easy to fing work, provided that the economy is not choking businesses.
You need to match ALL not some, but ALL of your abilities, skills, and interests to your career. You dont build cars being a mechanic, thats what assembly line workers do. You find problems with cars, thats it. You fix them anf allow them to perform better. You only have one interest in common with this field and that is technology,
