  • Hello from chilly Finland, I just made similar set up, with 25L auxliary tank, but about the fuel consumption, My geny drinks 0,3-0,7L/h, so it runs normally 10-12 hours with one tank = eco on and only charging batt's of my car. Youa are talking about more than 4 gallong per day? My geny runs a day with around 2 gallons??? We are having Honda as 220v but should it be any different? It consumes 0,25-0,7 liters per hour, so you can do the math.

  • Thanks for your visually descriptive video. I'm copying the exact setup you've got for mine, but have a quick question. When you swapped out the marine hose for the automotive hose and fittings, was there a particular size or brand you got (what size barbed fittings with clamps) ? I just want to do it right. I'm kind of new to hoses and clamps.

  • Thanks for the quick reply. I have a moeller tank and the gauge messed up the first time i filled it up. The sceptar gauge seems alot nicer than the moeller. Im more worried about getting the fuel flowing first though. I am going to try tefloning both the connection on the fuel cap and on the tank and see if that solves my problems. When you switched lines and connectors did you put a primer bulb or fuel filter in the line?

  • @Tennisace160 No i just ran straight fuel line. Once it starts sucking out of the aux. tank if i unscrew the fuel cap on the generator the fuel tank is usually completly full. Never needed the primer, just made sure generator tank was full to start with. Its not as convinient not having the quick disconect fuel lines, but the seals always went on me in the cold weather. So far the new setup has worked great.

  • Also what kind of tank do you have? i really like the fuel gauge on it. Has the gauge been working properly and decently accurate?

  • @Tennisace160 The tank is a scepter purchased at a marine shop. The guage has been working great so far with no trouble. The sealant was just teflon tape. I have since changed the marine fuel hose out for automotive fuel line and just used barbed fittings wiyh clamps. The marine hose and fittings didn't do well in the cold weather and leaked air in preventing it from sucking fuel. Since changing fuel line it has worked flawlesly. I use it on the truck for an APU and it runs 10Hrs /day 5 days/wk.

  • What type of sealant did you use for the adaptors that screw into the generator cap and into the extended run tank? I have the same cap and line as you with the primer bulb except that I added a fuel filter. I let mine run for around 30 minutes and it did not suck in any fuel because I can see thru my fuel filter. So obviously I have an air leak somewhere and I dont think its my fuel filter so I was just wondering what sealent you used?

  • Ever run at full output? & if so how much fuel does this go thru? (I have yet to test mine when I feel like burning pricy gas unless I say get hammered by a storm, similar aux tank, also from eBay, but your cap is loads nicer ;)

  • @Begbucks at full load I get about day and a half to 2 days. Thats running a 1500 watt heater. We also use it to power our camper at remote sites. It'll run about 3 days plus doing that.

  • @diesel687863 Thats about the same at 4.75 Gals per day mine uses but at about 560 Watts on high throttle (Eco off) so Seems that the extra output doesn't affect the fuel consumption much. You see the reason why I ask I just want to figure on how much fuel I need in case of a storm like the one brewing across much of the country as of now.
