  • I would like Daylight Savings Time to go away actually. My understanding is that there's no proof that it improves productivity, which from what I've gathered, is the purpose of Daylight Savings Time. I think that's because it's extremely difficult to prove. I just hate having to adjust to and from it, also way the dates keep getting changed is tough to keep up with.

  • it's not to improve productivity, it's to end the day with more day light. It would be just as easy to start the work day at 7AM in the summer instead of 8 AM. Then the clocks would not have to change.

  • That one is funny.

I hope your son know that you were joking. Otherwise he will start to tell this to his friends and teachers.

  • Yes, they know that I was kidding. Did you see the other "Global Warming Lessons" videos? I do what I can to teach them about the issues of the day, sometimes in a silly way.

  • Yeah, I've just watched them.

It's a little weird : are you really concerned about global warming ?

As for me, I'm not really concerned about it. Quite the contrary, in fact... I never turn my computer off and I sleep with my radio on all the time. It's sad, I know.

  • I am concerned, and I do believe people (human activities) are contributing to the increase in CO2. But I don't believe any action taken even on a grand global scale will reduce carbon emissions any time soon. Perhaps it will take a century. And even then, it's easy for the wealthy nations to say 'do this' or 'do that' but the poor nations have little choice. Still, hypocrisy of being against global warming and still wasting power and causing carbon pollution ... well, it's delicious.

  • is your son part asian? just curious.

  • no, he's not. but he does get that a lot.

    he says he's Caulk Asian.

  • so what is your goal in all these vids? Damn, u have lot of them for an ole guy.

  • ha! Yes, I'm old, but I'm fun. Or, so I think. You get to decide.

Mostly, I do this to keep my sanity.

  • Your son's eyes do look incredibly puffy...have you had this checked out or is it just part of his / just rolled out of bed look? Could be edema due to high salt intake/dehydration - or even thyroid? I'm sure you have...

  • he normally looks 'asian' with puffy eye lids. But, I'll keep an eye on him.

  • Nice one Bill...tongue firmly in cheek :)

You may get a call from Al Gore to solve global warming.

Earth currently is within an ice age, but is enjoying a cycle that is inter-glacial rather than glacial. In fact, Earth has been parked very close to the glacial/interglacial boundary conditions for the past 2-million years...sorry Al Gore...blame it on the Sun.

  • No, I'm pretty sure it's Bush's fault.

  • Burning bushes? Now.. that may have worked in the old testament but we really need to look out for new types of energy.

  • So, did my comment sound dumb?................

  • No, they didn't sound dumb at all. They sounded cleverly misinforming. Of course, you might have meant burning hydrocarbons contributes to greenhouse gases, and you're right.

  • I think it is a nice metaphor with one hitch, the earth does not use oil as a coolant.

But the truth behind it has something beautifully poetic to it.

  • You are so right. But don't forget; Burning witches also contributes to the global warming.

Also the biggest problem is sea levels that rise. If everybody would get a salt water fish tank with some nice fish it would help tremendously.

  • SO RIGHT!! That's why I recommend burning books instead of witches. I had a salt water tank with a nice invertebrate collection until the starfish ate the scallops. That pissed me off, let alone how the scallop felt about it.

  • I think what is really causing global warming is...We need to stop taking the coolant from the earth...Oil. When your car runs out of oil, the engine burns up. Same kind'a thing that is going on with our earth and soon we shall blow-up too

    LadyJava

  • I think you have a good point. And I don't know why they don't teach that in science classes.

Maybe we can all help by pouring oil into small holes we dig in our own back yards. It is a start.

  • What is this a parody...of?

    Par·o·dy [ párrədee ]

    Noun (plural par·o·dies)

Definition: Amusing imitation: a piece of writing or music that deliberately copies another work in a comic or satirical way

[Late 16th century. Via late Latin< Greek parōidia< para "secondary, indirect" + ōidē "song"]

  • maybe I need to improve my vocabulary before I try to teach science to my son. If it's not a parody... help me out.. what should it be? I went to see "The importance of Being Earnest" but it hasn't helped expand my lexicon.

    help me out here..

  • But.. it IS a parody. The official meaning does not refer to all media we have today but you are parodying current opinion.

    It counts as a parody.

  • Sorry, I didn't mean to pick at ya! I thought maybe I had missed some well known comedy skit out there...and you were spoofin' it. Okay...we'll just call it humor / definition : funny stuff. ('kay?)

  • no worries. I appreciate all the comments.

  • LMAO this is why children should not be home schooled lmao this is one funny video Bill nice work

  • Exactly!! thanks.
