The "dream that turns into a nightmare" is a unique way of putting it...I never really thought of it that way, but after Gosling said that, I think they definitely pulled that off.

About the violence, someone else put it this way: The brutalness of it is meant to give you the "holy crap" feeling because it is exactly what the characters in the scenes are experiencing, making the whole thing that much more... real. If you feel shocked, surprised, and on edge about some of the scenes, then the movie has accomplished its job

@XClone08 really good way of putting it. The movie really did put you in Driver's shoes. They pulled no punches with this flick, and that's rare. I give it a 5/5 stars. Loved it

This movie is not violent at all. Watch saw that shit is way more brutal. Drive is just an amazing movie. Best movie I have seen in years. Great cinematography and music. Cast is amazing.

There's a reason the violence is so uncomfortable. Because it's realistic. Not the blood, but I mean that real life violence is just a horrible thing to watch. Movies try to make it seem like nothing. But not this movie...

Me and my boyfriend went to go see this and left the theater confused and creeped out... everytime someone got killed it was way over the top... I thought it as weird that during action scenes and what not there was never any music... and I guess I understood the concept of why it was sooo... quiet. but... I just felt kindof uncompfortable the whole time lol I didn't hate it I just... didn't know how to feel about it :S Not my kind of movie I guess!

@EmiliieVlogs I think that was the point, not that it was over the top which I didn't think it was but it was brutal and horrible and it makes you feel uncomfortable because it is violence, certain movies make violence throwaway and that's fine as long as the tone is consistant but this film aimed to be more realistic not only in it's portrayal of violence but on the toll it takes on the characters physically and mentally.
