I was at this show, and it was really good. I play here in Nashville, but none of the "country" really excites me anymore. I play with a bunch of guys who just do it for fun now, and we play mostly southern rock type stuff.
Wow...my favorite singer and my Dads favorite singer together!!! I would have given a lot to have seen this with my Dad. He died a year after Waylon and everytime I hear Waylon I smile and think of my beer drinking, harmonica playing, fun loving Daddy!
I love the little set up they have for Waylon...his water bottle right there, the pivoting chair. At this point in his life, I believe he was in a wheelchair.
@RENEE91269 He was, he had a version of PAD (Periferal Artery Disease) which pretty much disabled him to walk or stand for very long. In December of 2001, his left leg was removed from the knee down, he was learning to walk and stand with a prostetic before he passed away, he was doing really well in those last two months.
new "country" is a joke. boy bands and wannabe's wearing black plastic "hats." That is fine with me. I wont buy it nor recognize it,..along with countless other's around this country. THIS video is country-western music. marty robbins and waylon are at the top of my list. They wouldn't give up what their heart felt throughout their lives. Real Men. RIP.
This great performance was recorded January 5th and 6th, 2000 at Gnashville's historic Ryman Auditorium. While it would be Waylon's final album, it was not his final concert.
This is just shortly after Waylon lost his foot to diabetes. That is the reason he is sitting, he has a prosthetic and isn't steady enough to stand on it for a long time.
WOW!! there is some fantastic jamming on this song. I love to hear several guitars play and each one do a solo like they do here. Thanks for the upload.
That george jones song "who's gonna fill their shoes" rings so true the more times pass on and on. Marty and Waylon especially for me. Merle and others of course though. Just ain't the same anymore. Most new crap ain't country but even for those trying to represent the old school they have to many "money strings" attached to them and they wont make that final step over the line to outlaw. THX VM 4 posting man :)
What a performance by Waylon and Travis. This is pure Country music with two exceptionnal performers. God Bless you all Country Music fans! An God Bless Jessi Colter!
Ol' Hoss went down rockin!! They only make Waylons once a century or so. I'm glad that the first concert I ever saw was Waylon in 1980 at the Wheeling Civic Center in WV. None better.
Wherever you are Waylon, God Bless you. You're really giving me courage and putting sunshine in my life. As for Travis, keep doin' what you're doin' the best. Play guitar and sing your soul's out!
Poor Waylon, his last concert at the Grand Ol' Opry in 2000.. I belive he's praising the Lord in the Honky Tonk Heaven. God bless you for sharing this one. Sturla.

I wish country music was still country. All the wanna-be's in Nashville should take notes from these two. R.I.P. Waylon. We love and miss you a lot!

I believe somewhere around 2000-2001. It was recorded a year or so before he passed away in 2002.

He was and will always be the #1 outlaw.
