@SuperNiko911 1995-2003 Seville STS's all had 300hp and 295 lb ft of torque. The quoted acceleration times from Cadillac on the Seville STS was 6.4 in 1995, 6.8 in 1998, and 6.5 in 2000. The SLS's have lower gearing and less horsepower, but have more torque so unless we're drag racing to 100MPH you actually have better low end acceleration. As for 0-60, Cadillac quoted 7.7 for the 2000 SLS which I feel is definitely slower than it is. I'd say it's right around 7.0-7.2.
honestly it bothers me that gm shutdown production of the northstar in the sts, they should bring it back with modern features and direct injection, to crank out 400 hp and descent fuel economy.. of all t things on my 95 sts the engine works the best. shame on gm.
@cAdillac718bx I know right? I love their LS V8 engine, but they need more than one V8. The northstar was amazing aside from the headgasket issue. Fix that and you have a perfect engine. Throw it in the CTS as a non V series option and make the XTS rear wheel drive, throw a north star in it again as a non V series option. That'd be one hell of a line up.
While I'd agree with you if the car used a pushrod Cadillac engine, Northstars are a different breed and are designed to run at high RPMs without breaking a sweat. The Northstar is a high performance engine.
In fact, if you don't run a Northstar engine hard on WOT on occasion, the piston rings won't break in properly, leading to oil consumption in excess to what's normal for these engines. You may also allow carbon buildup in the chambers, which can further hamper performance.
I own a Cadillac Deville i recomend not buying a used Cadillac unless it has very low miles after a couple years theses cars just like to break down and the parts are super expensive.
@rednecksparadise "after a couple years theses cars just like to break down and the parts are super expensive."
No worse than any other premium car.
And, if I may add, mileage isn't as important as the level of care the owner gave to the car.
The buyer should ask for the car's complete service history. All scheduled service and any repairs should've been performed promptly when required, preferably by a shop staffed with Cadillac-certified technicians, and there must be records to prove it.
The '95-'97 car was different than the '98-'04 car. Less refined, didn't handle as well, interior was more plain (but better built), and the styling was more hard edged than the later model was was softened up a bit. Drive both generations to see which one fits you better. You should be able to find plenty of both for under $5,000. Make sure the car has been well maintained because these cars can be nightmares.
if you actually knew anything about a Northstar, the more you do WOT starts the better the motor runs. I'm not racing, i'm doing an acceleration run to 60MPH. Get the fuck off my page and actually do some research before you comment on my shit.
@doug1bite GM's 4T80E is a pretty well matched transmission to the Northstar powerplant. The tranny's actually hold up better than the motors do. The only problems they really suffer is TCC solenoid failure. Otherwise, they are pretty stout. I don't do this to my car everyday. The ignorant person who posted that comment has no idea what he is talking about. I'm sure he doesn't even own a Northstar Cadillac.
do u have it in drive win u accel or to u throw it in 1 then 2 then 3 to d ? i beleive if u thorw it in 1 then shift up to d u get a faster 0 - 60 timing i have a 2001 cadi seville i never timed it but it felt faster win i did that
when i did this run I had the car in drive but recently I tried putting the car in 2nd gear and taking off the T/C and it seemed like it made a difference. The tires actually barked in 2nd gear. I'll have to do another test run in the future to see if my times have gotten any better.
you can press the button on the console, but if you do that the car starts out in 2nd gear. I don't believe there is a full way to take the traction off. It's always there just in case of an emergency situation.
OK this is STS so it have 305 hp. I had SLS so slower ( 275 hp ) so how fast is SLS i mean 0-60mph

So many people with no Northstar knowledge, right? Well, we know it and we just laugh. Northstars forever my friend!

No LSD on Seville's. Cadillac had a standard traction control system and Stabilitrak.

does the STS have the limited slip differential?

@cadillacseville00 Even though it might be good for the engine. In no way is it good for the transmission. Quite the conundrum you're in it seems.

Yeah mine is on the way out and it was replaced last year. The benefit of having the taller gearing is you get better gas mileage.
