You are totally wrong, a Defender is as stiff as a god damn rake. At home we got 2 Samurais and HAD a Defender, we replaced the Defender by a Nissan Pathfinder cause it was too hard and the position of sitting was totally strange (seats are not totally right positioned to the steering wheel). Really, get out of your "Landy cult" cause they are not the best off road vehicles in the world. A Samurai is hard to drive with too but off road a Land Rover gets beaten.
