I was one of these boys, that gave up ballet, cause of all the bulling that I recieved, I have faced my demons now im back to ballet, at the age of 31, to hell with these people, the world is full of idiots that want to attack you as being gay when you do ballet, in fact i think of it the other way round, says more about being straight when you love to be around the ladys, probably jelous this kid has had more women in his short years than you will in a lifetime ha ha ha! good on you Kiril!

It is infuriating how these young boys who dance ballet are pressured to show that they are not sissies, gay, etc. So what if they are gay? As a matter of fact, gay boys are better at ballet because they don't have the inhibitions that straight boys have.

I only worry that by taking on such a heavy rehearsal and performance schedule these kids risk losing time training in their fulltime ballet programs. Are they trading in their future for a pop culture show?

Well, it's not just a pop culture show. It's a show that will bring a lot of attention to them and open a lot of doors. I'd say it's giving them a future. Also, most Billies only perform the show for about 6 months. Liam Mower (one of the original Billies) managed to do the show for 18 months as well as do his classes at the Royal Ballet School.

It certainly is a pop culture show. Heck it has songs by Elton John! This isn't the English National Ballet. And Liam Mower ended up leaving the Royal Ballet School. Largely because he was falling behind in his training and the lack of time he had between school and the show. His career might be over in many regards. Young dance students need to train and take on small parts with their affiliated company.

I didn't write that it wasn't a pop culture show, I said it wasn't "just" a pop culture show. Liam Mower has said many times that in doing Billy Elliot, he found that he loved acting and singing, not just dancing. He could easily have left after his first contract ran out and returned solely to dancing (as many of the boys have done) if he wanted. Instead, he chose to pursue acting.

I should clarify that by "not just pop culture" I mean that they are doing tons of ballet and tap in the show. It's not like they're putting a hold on ballet to do a sitcom.

i also heard that the crew behind billy is not just turning the boys away once they grow out of the role. they are going to help them have opportunities as well as go back to their normal dance life if they choose. but they all said they love the singing and acting and other types of dance they have learned from the show, and they'd like to try that too! I think the billys will be fine once they are no long Billy. They have been so amazing that a billion doors will open for each of them!

He is incredible! I saw him in the New York production and he left me speech less! His bally is beautiful and i really want to see the show again! He is not getting fired! Why would he get fired?! He did the northen english aceent perfectly and believe me, that is very hard to do, and he does look the part, you just need to see him on stage! Great job Kiril! Thanks for this video. I got to see Kiril his FIRST night on broadway (October preview and the very first night it showed) and he was amazing! Not only can he dance, but he can act and sing as well. He must be on stage nearly 80% of the time and has a great presence. The show itself is superb. A great story. No doubt Kiril will have a very long and successful career in ballet and theatre.
