I can't help but notice some odd similarities in the story of the more recent game Supreme Commander and this. I'm not saying that game ripped this one off, but I kinda like the character-based story that this presents more than the vague-idea based conflict presented in the Supreme Commander intro vid.

seriously imo, this game is way better than mech 1, 2 or warzone. Gameplay and graphics are like top-notch at that time, its totally on par with starcraft. If there was a fallout 2 and fallout 3, which are 10 years apart, then there can be a sequel for this game. If only the marketing wasn't a fail, and this would get by someone in the gaming industry.
thing is, the company that made this game got taken over just after developing and releasing this game. Which firstly means that not many copies of this game exist compared to most other games, and secondly, that pegnosis probs still own the rights so if another company had to buy them out then there would be less profit in it for them
To me this is the defining game of the RTS genre. If anyone else feels that way, there is always hope. Maybe "unofficial sequels" would be it's only future, but that means it will continue in spirit. I'm just speculating. Think of it, though, new units, new factions, new allegiances, I used to imagine what kind of game it would be.

If it wasn't for bad publicity and lax tech support, this game would've flourished. It might have been greater than Starcraft, even. I just wish someone would pick this old gem back up and give it a good polishing...
That's a real shame - you guys had something quite solid going with Metal Fatigue. The animation and art style was top-notch for its time, and the game really deserved a lot more recognition.

Steve patterson was one of the producers, great guy. It got crazy as Psygnosis shut down, and all sorts of people from the other companies that became involved made put a lot of BS credits in the game for people how hardly touched it, sadly.

@LewaNitro , nope I have no rights to the game, my best guess is maybe sony owns it due to acquisitions of other studios, but I doubt whoever owns the rights even realizes it.
@walkerk19 Someone could use the same stuff, just rename the title. And Combots are not a copyrighted name. It has been used over and over again by others that possibly do not know of MF. An example is Tekken 4's Combot. The unit names are not copyrighted i think, and absolutely not the faction names, i searched on Hedoth, Mil-Agro, Rim Tech and Neuropa on Google, and lots of Non-Metal Fatigue stuff came up.
@toddpickens I love this game. I still play it but it will not play on Windows 7 x64 so I created a Windows 98 SE virtual machine to play it on. If anyone knows how to get this to play in Windows 7 let me know. This was one of the most overlooked games ever
@Legacy05GT Yeah, i have played MF since i was, like, 2, 3 or 4 years old! I was 2 years old when the game was released, and i must thank my uncle for showing me the game. The Metal Fatigue demo was my first ever RTS game.
@toddpickens I heard that there were some of the first of Psygnosis working on MF2 o.O just a few of them and not the whole team, but as you said, there probably won't be a sequel to it, shame you guys all don't work on another as another group or something :P
From your description I had similar problem on XP. However while it is impossible to make it start after 1st installation, reinstall fixes this problem. It might be also worse cause it happened to me (1 time in 6 system reinstalls) that it wasn't working at all on XP - I had to reinstall windows.

I still got the working original game that i've bought around 2000. These were the times... I loved to capture the Hedoth combot in one of the multiplayer maps. Mass destruction(at a HUGE price) - you could send 2-3 and destroy someone's entire base along with 20 combots he had in it.

All the fuctions are good! But I really like to pick up some cool parts and making the ultimate combot.milagro torso (flying) speed boots (neuropa) laser sword hand missile hand ^^A mechanic Rambo :P
Well, Psygnosis didn't advertise this game very much. Despite having an opening movie that was beyond belief at the time and good strategy, tiny unfixed glitches combined with the fact that not many people made a hype about this game, it got medium reviews. I think it was way better than the critics gave it credit for, but alas, nothing I could do, I was only nine at the time.
I use a very well balanced comination(when playing with Rimtech) that is as follows:
Arms-Energy gun, Armor Fist
Legs-Missle Legs
Body-Force Feild
This combat provides a mix between a well balanced defense, a great range attack, and decent melee. It's not good for getting parts off of enemy combots, however if you're just out to wipe your enemy off the map then two to four of these guys with even just level 2 pilots can be a huge asset.
Usually I'll try to get a flak torso if I can. If I get a flak torso I put it on some jetboots with the same energy gun hammer hand combination. then, I reinforce those guys with combots that have missle torsos, jetboots, an energy gun, and a lazer sword. It works fairly well. Just three of these guys with a couple of jets and some assistance from orbitalbombs and I was able to wipe Hedoth off of the orbital layer when htey had five platforms and I only had two.
the 1 who says Metal_Fatigue_2Disks.rar and you need a download prorgram i guess its BITtorrent....and allso you need winrar and deamontool GOOD LUCK ! ;)
this is an amazing game, it just lacks some of the things that make a good RTS, my friend and I are trying to make our own sequel to the game...the only problem is that neither of us know how to make game :)
Go to the home of the underdogs (a site for abandonware) and just download the CD-RIP version if you want to. It's just the game without the music. And the music on the original version made it slow and glitchy anyway.

IMHO possibly the greatest all round game I have played in over 25 years of game playing.
I pray nightly that someone somewhere will do a sequel taking off from when the Hedoth enter at the end.
I dont see it ever happening but I keep my fingers crossed.

One of the things they got right about the future in this game was 'CorpoNations'.
Of the 10 largest 'economies' (I e property, assets and cash access), 7 are now Corporations and only 3 are Countries.
If you think your Government runs things - you are every mistaken. These game makers saw that.....

Hate to break it to you guys, but there will not likely ever be an MF2.
Psygnosis folded as the game was being published and the rights were sold off. Then again and agin, etc.
No one knows who owns the rights, I have tried to find out several times, but no luck on establishing rights. Glad you guys enjoyed the game.

@Legacy05GT Yeah, i have played MF since i was, like, 2, 3 or 4 years old! I was 2 years old when the game was released, and i must thank my uncle for showing me the game. The Metal Fatigue demo was my first ever RTS game.

@toddpickens I heard that there were some of the first of Psygnosis working on MF2 o.O just a few of them and not the whole team, but as you said, there probably won't be a sequel to it, shame you guys all don't work on another as another group or something :P

No, I tried changing all the settings(running it 95 compatible and such) and nothing works. simply crash into desktop after starting it.

From your description I had similar problem on XP. However while it is impossible to make it start after 1st installation, reinstall fixes this problem. It might be also worse cause it happened to me (1 time in 6 system reinstalls) that it wasn't working at all on XP - I had to reinstall windows.
Sorry for those sentences they are horrible but I don't know how to describe it in different way.

Do you know how to get this work on windows vista? i got some kind of graphic problem so i cant see any toolbars and it makes it unplayable.. tell me if theres some kind of fix patch or file for it.

I still got the working original game that i've bought around 2000. These were the times... I loved to capture the Hedoth combot in one of the multiplayer maps. Mass destruction(at a HUGE price) - you could send 2-3 and destroy someone's entire base along with 20 combots he had in it.

I totally agree. Unfortunatly, Psygnosis was bought by Sony so I doubt that we will ever see a remake of this beauty.

Well, Psygnosis didn't advertise this game very much. Despite having an opening movie that was beyond belief at the time and good strategy, tiny unfixed glitches combined with the fact that not many people made a hype about this game, it got medium reviews. I think it was way better than the critics gave it credit for, but alas, nothing I could do, I was only nine at the time.

what's the best combot combination?
for me:
arms: hammer hand, K- shield
legs: steady legs
torso: armor torso
unbelievable HTH + incredible HP and defense. The ultimate HTH ever (except the alien bot though)

try: 2x hammer hand, hth upgrade legs, armor torso. GG no re. (yea, dmg from 2 hammers stack on one hit :d)

I use a very well balanced comination(when playing with Rimtech) that is as follows:
Arms-Energy gun, Armor Fist
Legs-Missle Legs
Body-Force Feild
This combat provides a mix between a well balanced defense, a great range attack, and decent melee. It's not good for getting parts off of enemy combots, however if you're just out to wipe your enemy off the map then two to four of these guys with even just level 2 pilots can be a huge asset.

still i think that different parts from different corps are best to combine. (i preffer HTH bots, and flak torso is the best range weapon)
and- hammer hand is the ultimate hand!

Usually I'll try to get a flak torso if I can. If I get a flak torso I put it on some jetboots with the same energy gun hammer hand combination. then, I reinforce those guys with combots that have missle torsos, jetboots, an energy gun, and a lazer sword. It works fairly well. Just three of these guys with a couple of jets and some assistance from orbitalbombs and I was able to wipe Hedoth off of the orbital layer when htey had five platforms and I only had two.

this is an amazing game, it just lacks some of the things that make a good RTS, my friend and I are trying to make our own sequel to the game...the only problem is that neither of us know how to make game :)

Go to the home of the underdogs (a site for abandonware) and just download the CD-RIP version if you want to. It's just the game without the music. And the music on the original version made it slow and glitchy anyway.
