@edgluhrs Thanks very much for your kind comment. Sandy's version is still on youtube, as far as I know. I'm working on another of hers right now. She was a wonderful musician and I was happy to discover her recently. 8o)
@edgluhrs Thanks very much - you are right - it's really very beautiful! I love harmonies so may tackle that one at some point. Even if I don't, really enjoyed hearing it.
@zazamaxi Will ye please take my many thanks, sweet Maxi. I was hoping you'd like this one, and am so happy that you do, my British/Oklahoman friend. oxo
Wonderful production Sylvia!! The singing was soooooo lovely with the beautiful picking and the neat recorder in the beginning was so cool!! You are getting so pro with all this recording stuff too!! *****
@Cameragirl803 Thanks very much Jane - so happy to hear you liked it. youtube has certainly been a great place for testing things out and getting feedback & trying to improve - so thank you for always being there with your sweet encouragement! 8o)
This is so-o-o-o beautiful Sylvia ! I Absolutely Love This !
In a rhapsody of pure rapture I drift effortlessly amongst the cottonwood silk.
Truly magical my dear friend. The recorder is the icing on the cake, I just love it !
Amazingly enough, I can't find enough words to express my feelings any better.
Did I mention I loved it ?
I am SO far behind with my dear friend's videos, I think I have to start writing shorter comments.(after this one) I Absolutely Love love love it !!! :-))))
@profwaldo Thanks so much, Wally - I think you like it! lol Really such nice comments - well thank you for telling me about Sandy Denny & suggesting my voice my suit her songs. Hey, thanks for leaving me the last of your long comments. I know what you mean - time is precious and there's only so much of it! 8o)
A tour de force Sylvia, one of the nicest versions of this old song I've ever heard. I'll be coming back to this one a lot. Thanks and have a great evening. -Ron
@rhopen Wow, thank you so much, Ron - so kind of you. Well I worked hard to master (well not quite mastered) this picking and just about drove everyone crazy with my practicing so I guess it was worth while. Have a great week. 8o)
You really did a beautiful job on this song Sylvia, wonderful vocals and beautiful guitar playing... loved the flutes too! Simply beautiful, I enjoyed this song very much! Well done! Wishing you a great week! ... FrAnK
@SabMei1 Thank you very much for your kind words, Sabine - youtube and all my kind friends and subscribers have helped me improve! So thanks to you and so happy to hear you enjoyed this. 8o)
@babs4TLove Thank you for your really kind comments, Babs! Yes, I really like the recorder - was thinking of painting some little flowers and vines on it, too. So glad to hear you enjoyed this and best to you, too. 8o)
@ordepix Thank you very much, Pedro, for noticing the picking - it was a bit of a challenge for me, but I also think this style sounds like a harp so I worked on it. 8o)
@JackGAdams Thanks very much, Jack - really nice to hear you thought so. Thanks for noticing the picking - it's a different style and took me a while to get a handle on it. 8o)
Ahhh Sylvia: I love this one and your voice is perfect for it. I found the banjo tab and would love to learn, but my timing is off and it has been difficult for me, I don't know why. Kay in our group has been trying to help, when we can get together. Maybe one day I'll get. Love your version. Very pretty. Thanks for sharing. Gwen
@cadjunk Thanks very much for your kind comments, Gwen. Hey, I know EXACTLY what you are talking about with the timing. It was hard for me, too. What helped was to count ONE two three FOUR five six SEVEN eight nine and put a bit of emphasis on the first triplet note. Hope that helps - you will get it, keep trying! 8o)
Hello Sylvia... I agree with Anette..good idea with the recorder. They are not easy to play. I was in the recorder band at school in the 60's and found it much better for everyone if I didnt blow :*).. got away with it too hahaha.
Your harmonies sound really nice... well done.
Check out> transatlantic sessions< on yt for lots of this stuff.
@leobluesy Hello Leooooo - you're absolutely right - not as easy as I thought at all. If you blow too hard or don't have your fingers pressed down hard enough, you get squeaks I'm finding. Most kids try this out in school like you did, but our elementary school never taught music for some reason. Thank you on the harmonies - they can be hit & miss for me - sometimes wish I had a better feel for them. I will check out the link - thank you Leo! 8o)
Hallo Sylvia, I was surprized to see you play the recorder. It is great instrument and you can do a lot with it. Playing harmonies with it is a great idea.
@TanteA Hallo Anette - yes, surprise! lol It's always fun to try something new. If I was younger & had more time I'd also try violin or fiddle, banjo, drums, mandolin, bass guitar, flute, chimes, and polish my piano skills. lol But you are right about the recorder being a great instrument. I have seen you play it in a lovely way. Yes, it makes great harmonies. Thank you for your comments and best wishes. 8o)
Here is a great tribute to Sandy and this song. Denny's version used to be on YouTube as well...
