You didn't show a fume extractor. You showed fumes be sucked into a computer power supply. If wanted anyone to believe you actually did anything useful you would show the fumes weren't just being blown out the other side of the power supply. If you put any filter material on the other side of the power supply, show it, otherwise this is just a worthless video which shows nothing.
An extractor is something that removes fumes (in this case) from an area. Even if the fumes were being pumped out the other end at least it has been removed from the persons immediate area and are no longer concentrated. Used in a ventilated room this would be sufficient anyway.
Good idea. I was thinking of making one from a coffee can and an 80 mm fan, but this way you have a ready made enclosure. I think I'd rather have the fan downstream from the filter so less crap would build up on the fan blades, though.
NICE!!

So you ptake apart the psu, and just added the filter, and just kept everything else intact?
pinchiecajones 2 years ago
I took everything else out and just kept the fan. I use an external 12v powersuply. So it's:a box, a fan and a filter.

The filter is actualy at the other end of the box, where the air exits.

@inzen86
isn't it better to place in front of the fan so it cleans the air before it get's further?
I think it's great what you made but not really handy to take everywhere...
