@rightsforanimals10 Oh yeah , i live about 6 mile away from there and its really messy but this old woman who died left LOADS of money for them to rebuild it aparently so dont worry :) . they're just looking for somewhere to build a new dog's home :D
as a animal lover myself I have been in touch with Mr Lawman regarding these absurd alligations against him, this man puts all his time in caring for these animals, i visited his gardens and saw his dogs myself not 1 dog showed any distress by cowering or trying 2 get away From Mr Lawman, they all seemed very pleased at his presence all dogs had good bedding of straw & shredded paper and food was been cooked in a big boiler meat, veg ect plus loads of loaves of bread ,
the video shows where the dogs are filmed as been muddy & bare you will be aware of the floods which ravaged west cumbria, sidick pond raised 2 great heights this particular garden as well as others were flooded in 3 feet of water, Mr Lawman went 2 his garden at 4-20am that day 2 wade waist deep in 3 feet of water to rescue these dogs & move them to higher ground 4 there safety, twice a day he caught a train form workington 2 flimby in all weather conditions 2 see his dogs safe & fed
Mr Lawman was met off this shuttle 1 afternoon by 2 enviroment officers, from allerdale a vet & a policeman,Mr Lawman wellcomed there call and asked them 2 into his gardens an inspect the premises & the conditions of the dogs and there enviroment, after inspecting the welfare & conditions of the dogs, all parties were in agreement that Mr Lawman was taking good care of his dogs & all were in good health
Mr Lawman feels it a slur on his own character since he has had greyhounds since the age of 9, what hasn"t been mentioned Mr Lawman & a friend Mr Barry Nicholson from Siddick were awarded a certificate & medallion from the RSPCA 4 their courage in saving a dogs life which fell through ice at siddick pond when they were younger, does this sound like someone who dosen"t care about the welfare of animals? "I DONT THINK SO" let him get on with caring 4 his dogs which he has 4 years with a passion
in reply 2 the e-mails Mr Lawman has not held a bookmakers permit for well over 20 years, the collie named Nell was 17 &1/2 years old, it was the bequest of the late Mary Jane Lawman for her dog 2 be cared 4 by her son Mr Lawman & not 2 have the dog put 2 sleep after her day, he carried out his mothers request caring 4 Nell untill she passed away of natural causes & old age without any suffering & pain.
due 2 further investigation on Mr Lawman & his dogs he did NOT know what dates the police, vet, council & rspca were coming, the dog with the limp is in NO pain it has no muscles in the leg which the vet confirmed, the dog with no hair on back end is not suffering, its just gone bold like a lot of men do, he has 5 dogs which are just pets if he wasnt a dog lover he wud av had the 5 put 2 sleep wud he not? its about time u all so called do gooders got OFF his case n watch ya own assets
i am writing in response to the articles on several pages on the internet.
after contacting mr lawman and listening to the "TRUE FACTS" i feel i should speak out and defend mr lawmans good name and his constant dedication to his dogs at his northside allotments:
1
mr lawman has not held a bookmakers permit for well over 20 years
ive seen, and was the 1st to report animals kept in excrement laden pens, open wounds, and barely able to walk. and 1 small kennel to house 7 medium sized dogs.
that video shows nothing like this. they have shelter, bedding, food, water and treatment when required.
go video some real neglect and cruelty. this isn't even close.
The dogs were visited by the RSPCA and examined by a vet, who said they are fine. They are well looked after and were pleased to see their owner when he entered their enclosure. The man has had greyhounds since he was nine years old and has had no problems until someone posted this on youtube. The 'limp' was an old injury, probably done on the racetrack, which was why it was a rescue dog. No doubt discarded because of that injury by the original owner. Well done sir for rescuing these dogs.
OK. I live 30 miles away. I know the area well and I know lots of people who keep dogs in the Workington/Maryport area in the same kind of place. If this man races dogs, that only proves that he must keep all the dogs in good condition or the others could not race.
As I am aware of how many dogs are kept in these places, how many other films have you taken and posted on Youtube? Or is it just this man you object to?
There is another we are looking at, this is to do with puppies kept in really bad conditions. If they make it they are sold in a local shop. Not got footage yet.
"that only proves that he must keep all the dogs in good condition or the others could not race"
That is far from the case - many racing greyhounds are given drugs to enhance their performance and mask injuries.
People like Mr Lawman do not 'love' and care for their dogs - if he did, he would not race them on dangerous tracks or keep them locked up in filthy conditions.
Is this your idea of how to care for a companion animal?
Firstly, I had a springer spaniel for 13 years 11 months, she died on 4-1-10, she was my constant companion, (in-house), if someone wanted me, they looked for her, I was inevitably nearby. So don't insult me by insinuating I don't know how to care for a dog. (I'll stop there). However, there are working dogs too. They tend to stay outside, hunters, farm dogs and some people just prefer dogs in kennels. (Including the houseproud). I don't agree with that , others do.
My sympathies for the loss of your dog - its one of the worst feelings ever and I genuinely feel for you.
That besides - I did not insinuate you did not know how to care for a dog - I questioned whether you felt the way Mr Lawman looked after his dogs, was showing love and care towards them?
Funnily enough my hubby is off work next week and may be fishing somewhere in the Maryport area, so I'll ask him tomorrow, (he works nights). Only problem I may have is that I now have a new pup and she is fairly nervous around other dogs at the moment, they are bigger than her!! So let me know place and time and we'll see what we can arrange.
I can arrange for somebody to meet you in the dunmail park car park. Voluteers are at the kennels all day. I think afternoon would be best. 2 or 3 o'clock.
@morskaj Please go to the allotments yourself - Mr Lawman has 17 greyhounds and races at Gretna dog track.
People who race their dogs put their own needs first - either financial or emotional.
They don't care that the dogs may die on the track or get injured racing around tight bends with 5 other dogs - they know it isnt safe but they still race them.
Please do not praise him - he has not rescued these dogs - he is confining them to dismal conditions and keeping them as possessions.
read the post above about Nell the Collie dog, she was well looked after, why dont you people just stop trying 2 wreck peoples lives? is that all you av got 2 do all day go sneaking around videoing peoples animals? true if they were in distress but Mr Lawmans arn`t, so get off his case ya pack of LOOSERS
Allerdale Borough Council appreciates the concerns of everyone who has expressed an interest in the condition of dogs being kept at Northside allotments in Workington but we can assure people that the animals are in no danger. They are being well looked after; fed regularly and, in one case, receiving treatment prescribed by the owner's vet.
Allerdale Borough Council first became involved in this particular case when one of its environmental wardens was contacted by a member of the public who was concerned that greyhound dogs might have been suffering at the allotments. The environmental warden visited the allotments on Friday 8 January and did not find them to be in any immediate danger.
The warden arranged to meet with the dogs owner the following week and explained the potential problem to him. The owner stated that the RSPCA had also been in contact with him. The warden attempted to find out more information from the RSPCA directly but was unable to gain any specific advice on how best to proceed.
On Friday 15 January, officers from Allerdale Borough Councils Environmental Services Team visited the Northside allotments along with a police constable from Cumbria Police.
It was noticed that one dog was limping but was also placing the leg on the ground and on occasion walking on it.
The owner of the dogs arrived and it was explained that under the Animal Welfare Act an investigation needed to be carried out into an alleged breach of the act. A vet from a local veterinary surgery had also been contacted to inspect the animals.
On entering the premises the dogs were pleased to see their owner there was not one dog cowering, and no animals seemed threatened by his presence. There were no large deposits of dog mess around the site. All the dogs had kennels with straw and shredded paper and water seemed to be plentiful.
The dogs owner then entered a shed to show point out a large pan of stew filled with various mince and other meats. He also had two full loaves of bread.
He explained that he visits his dogs twice per day in order to prepare the food and share it out among the dogs.
The vet then arrived and began an individual inspection of each animal. The owner explained as much as he could about each animal. The vet checked them all and when he checked the dog with a limp he was happy that the injury was a long standing injury and was of no concern. It was likened to a human having a sports injury and the limb just not getting back to its former use.
The dog that had fur loss was also deemed to be fit enough an unfortunate loss of fur but not through neglect. The vet chatted with the owner and then confirmed that he had no concerns over the treatment and condition of any of the animals.
As the dogs were given a clean bill of health, Allerdale Borough Council had done as much as it could under the Animal Welfare Act, and no further action was required.
We are happy to see that the system does work and we were able to respond to the concerns of the public, under the Animal Welfare Act, and work with other agencies such as the police and veterinary surgery to ensure the safety of animals around Allerdale. We encourage anyone who has any concerns about the welfare of other animals in the future to get in touch with Allerdale Borough Councils environmental wardens team on 01900 702800.

Hi Morskaj
Please accept an invite to come and see the conditions in say two or three months time and not when it has all been set up.
You need to know that he had had at least four days notice before the vets and council visit. No doubt just as long for the press.

how about u bunch of tossers get a job instead of slandering dog owners. they are acceptable condtions compared to some cruel bastards out there.
ive been a victim of 1 or 2 tossers like you with a dog i had. i rang and invited the rspca myself to show that you tossers got it wrong.

Greytexploitations 1 year ago
Agreed there are cruel people out there. We try and deal with them too.
You have passed comments on two bits of film, when we have seen what has been taking place in the place for more than a year now.
You would not know about the deaf and blind 17 year old collie that was put into this place for the last weeks of its life!
Oh by the way we are all employed, but thanks for your concern.
