IKR!!! I'm so glad someone else hears the guitar perfection that this song equals...The chiming give and take between the major chords of the piano is just pure pop perfection. Paul McCartney gets a hard on when he hears this record. Difford and Tilbrook of Squeeze are like "God that's good"--- It's a shame no one ever hears this superior version where the guitar is so audible.

@Gippslander All I know is that Karl was supposed to play in Philaelphia and I think I must have bought the very first ticket that was available and was so bummed when the show was cancelled with no reason. I was looking forward to that show so much.

Karl's A&R guy worked behind Karl's back to get the song to Robbie and enlisted Guy to have Karl's band do it with Robbie without Karl's knowledge. Robbie in interviews and at awards shows at times said he wrote the song.

Karl sings his song with honest inocents, and that is what makes this song work. This song will be performed by others in the future and maybe someone will do it better, but it hasn't happend yet.

Two words: Guy Chambers. Do your research people. Guy was in World Party and was the man behind Mr Williams, hence why all his best tracks have something party-esque in them.

When he signed the big deal the record company sacked GC and the next album as a dud as a result.

But there is a direct line from RW to KW.

However, as a fan since Private Revolution, the man should be applauded everywhere he walks

ronbarbados, I saw World Party in Australia a bunch of times last September...met Karl in the Perth airport, too. I saw them five times and really liked all the shows. Superb songs. Rare for a guy with this much talent to be backing up any band (Steely Dan in this case) but he's on the way back, I guess.

egyptology was karls baby and robbie tried to steal it with escapology ...wtf...im not saying that robbie didnt do a good job with the song...but when world party brought this song out..playing live wasnt as far tech as it was when robbie brought it out...go and listen to the album version of world party and you,ll see what version is better...karl wallinger has rocked the planet for 25 years lets see if robbie lasts that long then come back and tell me...

I remember when Ehyptology came out, I think it was in Rolling Stone that I read that Karl Wallinger out did Paul McCartney when Paul had his own CD coming out the same week. No one could beat this song.
