What he's wearing and the way he's just standing there really just don't fit with the energy of the music he's playing. Bass is definitely an important aspect of the song, and I don't deny that he's doing that much right, and I hate to be so judgemental, but he was playing in one of the heaviest bands to date, and I want my bassists of heavy bands to act like they're playing heavy music, not washing dishes, you know? Music is still very image associated and I don't mind that at all.
