Woould have been a GREAT video without the crappy music. Time to turn this shit off. Post it again with the engines as the music and your count will go up.
What the heck ??! This is one of the greatest airplanes on the world with an awesome engine sound and you put this boring kind of whining music over it ? Are you nuts?! Biiig dislike dude !!
the planes from the era just before and just after wwii have always been so cool to me....this was a time in our country when we could still fight to win...and did
FLYING BULL P38-- Instrument Panel now sports some modern equipment: GPS Garmin 530/580,Tru-Trak autopilot and digital 406mhz ELT (satellite based). This onboard video was made in 2008 after this Lightning (N25Y) emerged from a four-year-restoration at Ezell Aviation. That is Breckenridge Airport (KBKD) runways 4 and 17 visible in several shots made at low altitude.
No argument there. I don't get it , don't understand it. If I want to listen to music I'll listen to music. When I'm watching a video of scale or RC aircraft I want to hear the engine noise, wind, etc, etc... not some artsi-fartsi song at full volume! If you feel compelled to pretend to be a "music-video" producer fine. Put the music in the background barley audible.
@patherjkh thanks for four minute slice of flight heaven, although I would have liked to at least hear the sound of the tires screeching as you landed.
This was made at Breckenridge TX after being rebuilt by Nelson Ezell and his crew. Nelson is at the controls. This P-38 belonged to Lefty Gardner and was crash landed by his son Ladd in a Greenwood-LeFlore (MS) plowed cotton field west of the airport. P-38L, N25Y is no doubt one of the most famous Lightnings. During its early racing days it was modified with more streamline P-38F engine cowlings and remained that way through the Ezell rebuild where Nelson hand made new ones.
Wow, cool. A 2-seater P-38 or a helmet-cam? Is it an original, or a modification? What's with the yoke, anyway? I don't remember it being on that housing coming from the starboard, I thought it was like a control column, just with a yoke mounted on it. Where does it connect to the plane? And if anyone knows what song this is, could you let me know? It's nice.
I could have sworn I wrote a reply last night; I must have left the window without posting. Oops. They did make a P-38M, a 2-seater night fighter version of the P-38L. 76 built, but they were to late to see action. I doubt there are any left. I'm still trying to figure out how this video was filmed; it's not a fixed-cam, since it moves around. It's either strapped on his head, or there's someone behind him. A :17 you can see an arm in a black T-shirt; whose? Does the guy have 4 cameras, or what?
@thefianna x2. Yes: WHY?? I wanted to hear those engines roaring too, and all the cockpit sounds also. The music was OK, but it could be edited at a lower volume... Better luck next time.

I'm not the poster of this vid, but here is what I know.
Song: Moby Everlovin
Yoke, it is cantilevered and looks like the original.
Your sitting in a nacelle, so I am guessing that the only way to run the cables to the elevators is down the boom.
Instruments are updated with modern avionics.
I dont think there would be enough room to convert to a two seater because there is the flap drive motor and the fuel surge tank back there.
Probably worth almost 2 million bucks.

@Hamilton940 Your estimate of 2 Million is likely low."Glacier Girl" was sold for about 5.5 million back in '07.

Why do people insist on covering up the sound of 2 allison engines with music?
thefianna 2 years ago 33
@thefianna x2. Yes: WHY?? I wanted to hear those engines roaring too, and all the cockpit sounds also. The music was OK, but it could be edited at a lower volume... Better luck next time.
ElTezuK 1 year ago
@thefianna They don't sound as nice from the cockpit as they do from outside.
rustyATV 1 year ago 3
@thefianna The answer is simple. People covering original sounds with music are either 10 y.o. and/or not anywhere near true aviation fans.
Tome4kkkk 1 year ago
@thefianna you can find the majestic sound of an allison anywhere. so i dunno what u r complaining about.
thomasschute123 1 year ago 2
@thomasschute123, That's true! Us P-38 fanatics appreciate the connection of a good music beat along with the cruise in a relic of yesteryears.
NoDakBees 1 year ago
@thefianna I think becouse sometime with a simple camera its hard or impoxible record a good engine audio...
Hispanick 6 months ago
@thefianna In 99% of these films I would agree, but this time the choice of music just fit the film sooo good :-)
ml191172 4 months ago
@thefianna Why can't people just shut up about the music and listen to the other 100 videos of Allisons?
