Nobody deserves to die like that, certainly not the last great English eccentric and genius that was Mr Stanshall. Please remember that Viv did the spoken stuff on Tubular Bells - apparently they were all very, very drunk.

@CinnAlla - Viv's always getting the words wrong he was pissed most of the time and ended up on a cocktail of 20 different prescribed tranquilisers and anti-psychotics that he had to refer to a list in his shed to take at the right times!

@CinnAlla mmm though prob. not as hellish as the inside of Viv's head the poor bugger! Saw him once with Rodney Slater from the Bonzos just before he died - he was great - tragic loss though.
