  • THIS BILL IS SITTING DORMANT. IT WAS CREATED TO BUILD A LEGAL INFRASTRUCTURE TO FORCE ISP'S TO MONITOR AND CLOSE DOWN THE INTERNET. USING THE FACT OUR INTEREST FADES IN THIS MAXED OUT LIFESTYLE, WE ARE MEANT TO FORGET. UNDER THE ASSUMPTION THAT ALL COMPUTERS CONTAIN SOMETHING THAT CAN BE DEEMED AN INFRINGEMENT OF COPYRIGHT IT WILL BE USED IN EMERGENCY TO MONITOR AND RESTRICT ACCESS TO AN UNUSABLE SPEED. DON'T DISAGREE WITH THE GOVERNMENT THE ISP WILL MONITOR FILTER AND CLOSE YOU DOWN.

  • One must wonder what favours are being returned to our government for handshaking the Major labels of America....

... what if they went bankrupt.... smaller, more personal independent labels and self produced artists.. and a system where people are entirely in control over what is popular... oh dear what a shame... hmmmm.

  • holy crap!!!!

  • All of this is based completely on assumptions anyway, what actual proof is there that "illegal" file sharing is affecting profits? Especially when a lot of people who download music end up buying it anyway.

  • I care more about our freedoms and privacy than these huge companies missing out on their pocket money due to illegal file sharers. Think about it. Is it really worth sacrificing our digital privacy and freedom because greedy companies want their "change back"? If this act is put into place then all internet users will be closely monitored. That is like having to contend with a shoulder surfer at an ATM or the postman reading you mail before he posts it in your letter box. You have power! Use it

  • This Bill sucks - its like being given use of a library but at the same time being told - well you cant read that book and you cant read that book - who gives these clowns authority to say what we can and what we cant read? No one - its just all play acting and bully boy tactics - Soak it up whilst you can my brothers and sisters? Learn Learn Learb about the tyranny and note the players in this game - Peace, Love & Life :) Remember together we are strong - we have to stick together xx

  • There is a thread on Gearslutz called.

( END of the Internet !! is there any truth to it ? )

It contains information about the NEW technology and regulatory framework underpinning the changes in technology that Governments are preparing for.

  • right!! but they are using peoples electricity without their consent. just like BT manipulated the parliamentary process without MY consent. clause 17 was said to be removed.. know what they did ? yes.. they changed it to clause 18.

  • I just looked at maps.fon.com It's part of the Fon Wifi network. There are Wifi hotspots all over the UK and rest of the world. BT are investors in this network but they have potentially lobbied the UK Gov to close down open Wifi. Also, these Wifi Hotspots must be a subsystem of existing customers BT Broadband Home Hubs. do these customers know ?

  • @TheMvuser they dont know because they are not told. Hotspots are subsystems of existing BT BB customers and i think they get 250minutes a month inclusive

  • Yeah. What if you get a trojan that uses p2p without your conscent, to get you screwed?

  • 2:30 Wow the "pale faces" even found time in their busy time schedule ,of drinking peoples blood, to go and campaign yay!

  • USENET , VPN, BITCHHHHES

  • I presume MPs who by accident, by default, or by their own deliberate fault, will be exempt

  • I know for a fact I can access 7 out of the 31 houses on my streets WiFi connections. So potentially I could get all their interwebs revoked :D

  • GUILTY UNTIL PROVEN INNOCENT from 2010... a dark day for limeykind

  • Respect to the last guy "We want it to stay open. Free for all." hahaha. Legend. 4:09

  • whoever invented this bill should die of cancer

  • I laugh if someone went and used Lord Mandelsons wireless network to download illegal torrents and get his ISP to bann him Mwuahahahah

    That would be cool..

  • They could stop Murderers, Rapists, Immigration, as well as a number of other bad things, but no, they want to consume their resources and efforts on killing the internet that ALL industries now depend on and the public enjoy using.

I SAY NO TO THE DIGITAL ECONOMY ACT!

  • At the end of the day, if you are so opposed to this, go to the ballot box on the 6th, and vote for those who were against this...

  • @TheLastTrueWisdom Not really because the law is still gonna be there and one vote won't make a difference, these guys are making other people see and make the government see how much they suck dick by passing these sort of laws in a recession, which will affect nearly every industry in the world because I guarantee every business has a computer with a wireless network, that can be hacked to download illegal movies and then get their Internet cut off, say bye bye to that company.

  • Fuck the government

  • @Velheka can.,did, have,n shall continue shouting it until the ministry of silly walks takes me away for questioning..hah !

are we all taking part in a hate day ? seems so to me..

  • so now the government can ban political websites and exposure sources by using the anti-bullying legislation and the digital economy bill. Copyright abuse is a civil matter so this has nothing to do with copyright really.

God bless the queen for passing this. She is useless lol (sign this for me please queen! ok)

  • @cjellwood good point well made there..like the royals got a clue about anything except racist jokes and lording it up !!

  • @cjellwood She really has no choice in the matter. Her choice is null.

  • I've got to say that this bill is a load of crap but most of the guys there are just pissed off because they can't download music for free anymore

  • @JonnyBlahBlah

i have 1323 tracks on my mp3, and itunes is now 99p a track, i dont lose any sleep over not paying them, they have enough money

  • this bill is as old fashioned as that guys mega-phone

  • it's simple if you don't value music enough to buy it, then you shouldn't have it. how do you feel child abusers felt when that law got passed?

  • @tonefunkdef - The only people who don't download free music [...or to be more specific, illegally download it...] are those people who have no internet connection or have no computing common sense [Computer Illiterates].

What are you talking about when you mention "Child Abusers"? What does that have to do with anything? The Digital Economy Act wont stop child abusers.

...So then why didn't our government put an act/law in place that does? That's something to think about.

  • This is the first of me hearing of this bill and I consider myselfgenerally well informed. This is, frankly, bullshit. Censorship right in the open. If this goes through as it is, I severely hope there is a full-scale revolt. Freedom of speech and freedom of the press are not negotiable. The Internet is our only way of remaining well-informed about the world around us, and gives us insight into issues and ideas that we otherwise would never concieve of.

  • remember remember the 5th of novemeber

  • PROTEST PROTEST PROTEST. Don't let this bill survive!

  • They tried something like that here in the states under a different title. A court shot the concept down. I am sure they will try again under another name.

  • Hey guys, start massivly d/ling copyrighted content.

  • THE BLUE MEANIES ARE COMING!

  • wow..

i really hope this doesn't happen in the u.s.

  • @emmychum2121 alredy is

  • @emmychum2121 the UK is probly just a testbed for the law..before obama and the other fucksticks in charge all get together for the next circlejerk n decide to put it into practice there too..

  • This is the biggest load of bull Ive ever heard. This bill needs to be removed IMMEDIATELY! Im 19 and I can guarantee you that most of my friends (same age group) havent even heard about this. Something else my age group does know though is DOWNLOADING MUSIC. So, Government, aere you telling me youre going to criminalise the majority of students out there for downloading the latest Lady Gaga track? Fuck you, fuck your Bill and fuck "democracy" in the UK.

  • i was watching the news at work & they were talking about parliament going over a few minor issues just before the general election....minor issues?? this sounds like one of the biggest statutes im aware of! banning websites that dont have any way of creating corporate profit or influence. that is literally taking away the peoples rights, freedoms & individuality. If this was a story about david camerons wife it would be headline news, instead its swept under the carpet like it never happened

  • The gov fucks are unhappy with the internet, it's something that empowers people, so they will try to "printing press" the web, to "radio" the net, to "tv" it. It's all or nothing now, they are coming for your connection.

  • @trakkaton they will simply put up the prices of ISP taxes etc etc in order that the rich may use the net and the poor can suck dust..yet another step in the NWO agenda to bring our obedience to the fore..same as anything else, the rich have access to all the cool shit whilst the poor have nothing.

  • I hate the new youtube. Now there are more error messages than ever before.

  • " go back to bed America, you government is in control" - bill hicks

i think that quote sums up what the uk gov is trying to pull. im glad people are fighting. however it seems that the grim reality is that nothing will happen about getting the bill taken down. i would be impressed and inspired to fight for justice if however the opposite ( the gov serves the will of the people and bill gets taken down ) where to happen.

  • FUCK Digital Economy Bill !!!

  • ROFL at the guy at the end We want it to stay open FREE FOR ALL lol

  • well here we fuckin go! Well i think we are going to see alot of wireless hacking! and blame that on the person whos wireless router is either secure insecure and laugh at their expense

  • people are still missing the SINISTER facts here, people can commit piracy using VPNs whether this goes through or not but the government can now CENSOR/BAN websites under this bill (in fact all of the 3 main parties supported that clause) which means theyll probably ban free information websites like wikileaks that release information about government/corporate cover ups etc & that is a removal of human rights and a massive breach of free speech!! this bill needs removing asap!

  • @djdnauk1977 you guys should come onto Gearslutz forum.. there are tons of Musicians loving this stuff on there.

  • @djdnauk1977 This bill will never be removed because people are incapable of doing anything.

They'll just go on the streets for a few hours and tell the government they're not happy and then go back to being slaves for the music companies.

  • A large percentage of the people who will be on the receiving end of this Bill will be parents who are not systems administrators and who have children (dependants) between the ages of 14 and 24. When such people are (according to this Bill) criminalised, what then?

Did you know: record companies received a third of their revenue through litigation. Do the research.

This Bill is far to important and controversial to be rushed through the undemocratic wash-up.
