  • it sucks because its a windows laptop

    Mac rules

  • i really miss this piece...any chance of coming back?

  • vaio x = 27.8x18.5x1.39 cm , 0.78 kg

    macbook air 11" = 29.9x19.2x1.7 cm, 1.07 kg

so, vaio x is for 0.31 cm (0.12 inch) thinner like macbook air 11".....

  • looks awesome, much more than a mac

  • This VAIO X has a crap ATOM processor, you're paying for the weight and size.

  • I don't get what the big deal is with this whol series 9 thing being thinner than the macbook air. Reviewers never mention this being even thinner than that peice of trash

  • i like it than the macbook air becuz of its removable battery!!!! better for traveling!!!! nice job sony!!!!

  • i want one so bad i just want to know if it has speakers

  • im happy on my macbook air. adn even though the thickest point on this computer is thinner than the mac, overall the mac is thinner cause it tappers down to .11 inches at the front which is much much thinner. not saying this computers crap but you know. depends on what you want for the same price

  • this has speakers, right?

  • @GamingGeek97 well...if you can call them that!

  • @nubcakehero

Haha true that, I wanna pay for a sexy machine, but i dont want mac os or satisfy apple :p. Just joking, I love the vaio styling. so since my parents are paying why not?

  • @Aaymaann Cuz ya might want to do more than just check your e-mail with your machine without it freaking out.

  • is it safe to open the screen holding it by the corners and not in the center?

  • @muhammadfuckedAkid I'm only stating thickness FACTS. I did not state anything else, not even an opinion! Don't you bring screen size or weight into this! Ah! nooo, noooo. LOL just joking around. Of course what you said is roughly correct, except it has nothing to do with thickness.

That said, I like the Air the most of the 3 computers I listed because of the quality of the keyboard and trackpad. The Adamo XPS is pretty much all marketing (thinness) IMHO. The Vaio X Atom + keyboard I don't like

  • For you people arguing thickness, just take a LOOK at the hard numbers. This is not subjective people! Dell Adamo XPS is the thinnest laptop at 0.39 inches thick. The Vaio X is 0.55 inches thick, and the Macbook Air is 0.76 inches thick. There you have it, clear as day!

That said, if this Vaio X had CULV instead of atom, a nicer keyboard, and a bigger trackpad and was priced at $999, I would probably buy one. Shame they used Atom, shame about the pricing too.

  • cant they make a 13-15 inch version? THINK sony!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • fantastico...

  • Looks just like my 3 year old VAIO TZ190.

  • eventhough overpriced, its sold out almost everywhere ;)

  • How is it ergonomic typing when the back of the keyboard is raised?

All the research about Carpal Tunnel Syndrome in a hand wrist proves that the keyboard should be better flat.

I touch type, working at the PC 10h per day. My colleagues who touch type prefer flat (not raised) keyboard as well. For those who touch type - ergonomic typing is on a FLAT keyboard (not raised)!

Those who need to look at the keyboard, typing with 1-2 fingers (each hand), like the keyboard raised to see the bottons

  • thinner and half the weight

  • if only it had hdmi i would get one.

  • I agree. Great review. Most thorough I've ever heard.

  • Look at it bend @ 0:45

  • macbook air is thinner than sony vaio x

  • rather pay like 200 more and get a macbook air, thinner, nicer, better everything

  • for something that expensive plz throw in a HD accelerator like Ion plz!

  • Also like the Z, but it's 13" screen seems unlucky.

  • Atom Processor netbook for $1,400 bucks?

Sony must be on crap or something..lol

  • @tom11zz884 I agree. I wouldn't pay over $700 for an Atom. It's a great looking machine but Sony just overprices its products when you have other alternatives that are just as good.

  • I love your reviews, great opinion, good voice.

  • Wow you sound so bias :(

  • hmmm... its a vaio-p with larger screen/battery and touchpad

  • and more expensive xD

  • omg... big ugly MS license sticker on the underside. Why not inside the battery compartment.

  • Does this have a SIM card slot like the P series so you can insert a sim and have mobile internet?

  • yes,u can do it

  • how about the temperature?

  • Acer Aspire 8930g all the way! My laptop!

  • compared to WHAT things???

  • @qweq3 compare it to another laptop. like a macbook air. Something the same as it. they both claim to be very thin. is that what u meant?

  • could you write more clearly? it this review vaio x was compared to DVD disc, Macbook Air and 13inch Vaio. Isnt it enought?

  • you can buy external

  • damn ext battery buked it up...too bad its under powered , overly priced...sony following apple footsteps

  • man, sony always been expensive

  • @DJTEVAdotCOM Actually Apple following Sony's footsteps. Sony introduced chiclet keyboard and thinnest laptop ever first - two years before the Apple introduced first Macbook (not even Macbook Air). Checkout Sony VAIO X505. ;)

  • @DJTEVAdotCOM Dumb apple fanboys think apple invented everything. x505 came out 4 years before macbook air, and is still thinner than the newest macbook air. btw sony invented the chicklet keyboard in modern day laptops. stop believing everything steve jobs tells you.

  • Man, $1300 + Monthly mobile broadband fees = too much :(

  • HOW MUCH WAS IT???

  • The adamo XPS has 2 hours of battery life and no 3G connectivity, which for me in return is a deal breaker!

  • lol.. you cant do shit with 2 hours on your hands.

  • @kezikosova it's made of carbon fibers.I wanted to buy one,but the processor sucks.I wanted a CULV double core and a better graphics.Even youtube has 1080p videos now.I'm looking at adamo XPS for Christmas.

  • thx for the answer, the CPU isnt a big issue for me, all I need is a light and stylish laptop like this one. I didnt know which one to buy, Sony Vaio X or MacBook Air, but I like Sony product more so ... Hope that 2ghz Atom cpu will work good enough

  • is it aluminium or palstic ?? and how much does it cost for the moment, because im planing to buy one

  • I've just ordered one today £1500, should have it in 3 weeks, better work well.

  • thats thin. the only thing thinner then this is my HAIRLINE. =) nice laptop. nice VID

  • very very nice machine I've to say :)

    is the're keyboard backlight?!

  • I think I heard some raindrops in this video. Good clear review.

  • I'd love to see how it handles multitasking. Great review.

  • actually the macbook air is thinner lol i just saw one today at the store..

  • nope . vaio x is thinner

  • @hourei28 Nope. MacBook Air is thinner!

  • @MrVinney96 Dell Latitude 13 is the thinnest ...and Nope . Vaio X is thinner than the Macbook Air .

  • about how long did it take to startup?? im just trying to figure out if its fast enought for me lol =)

  • 40 seconds to the screen where you have to enter your password.

  • how did you know that? did you test it out?

  • Yes, I timed it with a stopwatch so I could answer your question.

  • It wakes from sleep to the logon screen in about 2 seconds-- nice.

  • that is the coolest netbook ever!!! i am so buying it!

  • nice review . 5stars
