I don't get what the big deal is with this whol series 9 thing being thinner than the macbook air. Reviewers never mention this being even thinner than that peice of trash
im happy on my macbook air. adn even though the thickest point on this computer is thinner than the mac, overall the mac is thinner cause it tappers down to .11 inches at the front which is much much thinner. not saying this computers crap but you know. depends on what you want for the same price
Haha true that, I wanna pay for a sexy machine, but i dont want mac os or satisfy apple :p. Just joking, I love the vaio styling. so since my parents are paying why not?
@muhammadfuckedAkid I'm only stating thickness FACTS. I did not state anything else, not even an opinion! Don't you bring screen size or weight into this! Ah! nooo, noooo. LOL just joking around. Of course what you said is roughly correct, except it has nothing to do with thickness.
That said, I like the Air the most of the 3 computers I listed because of the quality of the keyboard and trackpad. The Adamo XPS is pretty much all marketing (thinness) IMHO. The Vaio X Atom + keyboard I don't like
For you people arguing thickness, just take a LOOK at the hard numbers. This is not subjective people! Dell Adamo XPS is the thinnest laptop at 0.39 inches thick. The Vaio X is 0.55 inches thick, and the Macbook Air is 0.76 inches thick. There you have it, clear as day!
That said, if this Vaio X had CULV instead of atom, a nicer keyboard, and a bigger trackpad and was priced at $999, I would probably buy one. Shame they used Atom, shame about the pricing too.
How is it ergonomic typing when the back of the keyboard is raised?
All the research about Carpal Tunnel Syndrome in a hand wrist proves that the keyboard should be better flat.
I touch type, working at the PC 10h per day. My colleagues who touch type prefer flat (not raised) keyboard as well. For those who touch type - ergonomic typing is on a FLAT keyboard (not raised)!
Those who need to look at the keyboard, typing with 1-2 fingers (each hand), like the keyboard raised to see the bottons
@tom11zz884 I agree. I wouldn't pay over $700 for an Atom. It's a great looking machine but Sony just overprices its products when you have other alternatives that are just as good.

they were really bad comparisons. I mean, a DVD disc compared to a Sony Vaio X Series Laptop? Whats that supposed to prove and another laptop that isnt really well known like the latest apple or something or really bigger or smaller. It needs to be compared to other things to give us an idea of its size. Terrible comparisons.
@DJTEVAdotCOM Actually Apple following Sony's footsteps. Sony introduced chiclet keyboard and thinnest laptop ever first - two years before the Apple introduced first Macbook (not even Macbook Air). Checkout Sony VAIO X505. ;)
@DJTEVAdotCOM Dumb apple fanboys think apple invented everything. x505 came out 4 years before macbook air, and is still thinner than the newest macbook air. btw sony invented the chicklet keyboard in modern day laptops. stop believing everything steve jobs tells you.
@kezikosova it's made of carbon fibers.I wanted to buy one,but the processor sucks.I wanted a CULV double core and a better graphics.Even youtube has 1080p videos now.I'm looking at adamo XPS for Christmas.
thx for the answer, the CPU isnt a big issue for me, all I need is a light and stylish laptop like this one. I didnt know which one to buy, Sony Vaio X or MacBook Air, but I like Sony product more so ... Hope that 2ghz Atom cpu will work good enough
it sucks because its a windows laptop

vaio x = 27.8x18.5x1.39 cm , 0.78 kg
macbook air 11" = 29.9x19.2x1.7 cm, 1.07 kg
so, vaio x is for 0.31 cm (0.12 inch) thinner like macbook air 11".....
tadejstein 6 months ago
looks awesome, much more than a mac

This VAIO X has a crap ATOM processor, you're paying for the weight and size.

40 seconds to the screen where you have to enter your password.
