  • anyone else think this sound strikingly similar to Beulah, anyone?

  • One of the most original, heartfelt bands since rock could roll ;)

  • If all their songs are this good, these guys may end up being second in my book only to mm... or even possibly tied. Nothing gets better than modest, but this might be close.

  • @GreyAlaska I agree although i'm not sure if they could tie mm

  • Heil to the kings of Boise!

  • found these guys cuz my favorite band's modest mouse..... i have 3 favorites now..... thanks doug you freakin rock!!!!!!!

  • NO lyrics FU(K YOU LYERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR TiO

  • @Toddracecar why the fuck do you need lyrics this aint rap or screamo haha

  • History does not teach, it takes note. -Doug Martsch

  • the big dipper is part of the constellation Ursa Major or great bear and the little dipper is part of Ursa Minor or little bear :) dose that help you

  • I love every song from this album, but this one absolutely rocks.

  • One of those songs that makes you ask: "Why didn't this band ever make it big?" Of course, you think, almost no good bands every make it. Then you realize that you haven't heard a good new band for years. Then you remember: "Oh yeah, that's why I stopped listening to music."

  • @oamericanos69

True, but then again, it depends on how you define "making it." These guys have so much cred in the rock world it's ridiculous, they're all really accomplished musicians, and they have a really large and devoted fan base. I don't think they were ever after commercial success.

  • @MrClin Way more serious when you capitalize the EVER.

  • they have equaled wilco as my favorite band. magical!

  • i love that when i saw built to spill everyone thought doug was a roadie\guitar tech i seen you mr

  • @thepostmasterpastor I thought he was a homeless man ;)

  • Built to Spill always reminds me of college days and good times. Saw them live at University of Idaho. Great show.

  • Anyone else notice supered86 as the artist profile picture?

  • when i'm outta the city, and clearly see the big dipper.........i think of this song.

  • @fiofunk what is a "dipper". im irish

  • @trevorgarford In North America we can sometimes see two sets of stars that resemble cooking pots (the pan part and the handle)....for some reason we call these, "The big dipper" and the smaller set, respectfully, is called "the little dipper."

  • @trevorgarford a dipper is what they called a ladel in the 1800's.

  • @Will403536 What you've been missing while you were listening to clearchannel bullshit

  • @Will403536 Music, sonny.

  • @Will403536 Music, sonny.

  • my friend gave me his first guitar, and this band's sticker was on it. i looked it up and i LOVE this band!!

  • Woah, taking me back to my Senior year of high school!!

  • It works both ways. I love Modest Mouse (favorite band for several years).

And I just discovered Built to Spill, I guess I never checked them out before. I can definitely see how they influenced Modest Mouse. And I love both bands.

  • Found this band on the modest mouse station on last fm... hav'nt stopped listening since then

  • @xXKingRatXx dam same here

  • @xXKingRatXx same brooo

  • @zombiejorge WTF!!!!!!

  • @zombiejorge i'm not sure that's cotton candy.....that's albertsons stir fry dinner

  • i love you built to spill

  • this is such a great song... and any other comment on it serves no purpose.

  • Are the pixies influenced by Built to spill o the other way around?

  • I love this song and this band but im very surprised by how many views this vid has good work people

  • Amazing song.

  • this is good skating clean musik and i liks it

  • this is crazy . i like it

  • Wow, been a long time since I've listened to this song, Doug Marsch was and still is so ahead of the sound curve, soulful and inventive, Built to Spill has always set the standard with every new album, 75% of all indie bands are heavily influenced by this music!

  • @FruitoftheTree don't even worry about pulling that statistic out of your ass or anything

  • @shifty4play that is where it came from, keen of you

  • nice solo's!! is the first one synth or just really treated guitar?

excellent wigglyness like when eno would treat guitar live by slowing the tape reel manually

  • It's all guitar

  • @tylerlcis Its the lyrics for me

  • I love these guys! They remind me of happy times in Boise. We hung out with them one night in the early 90's at PoJo's nickel palace. Cool as hell! Saw them just last year open for CamperVanBeethoven @ House of Blues.....like I said, love them!

  • i LOVE this song!!!

*dances in spinny chair and sings along*

  • man this song makes me just wanna sit on my lawn chair during a summer night...and just chillll!!!

  • I couldn't find this song because I thought it was always called "Allen the Cowboy." Wikipedia helped me out...

  • ol' boy looks like snowball from clercks imo. rox mah sox off though!!!

  • How does this song not even have 60,000 views? That is just ridiculous.

  • now it got that amount, let's go and have a beer :))

  • @pszemek111 i'll be there

  • I'm in!

  • i know right like WTF

  • @Emehms

    ha! should'a waited a month!

  • Built to Spill is the greatest band in the universe!!! xoxo

  • Pwning is stupid

  • modest mouse pwns this

  • @420Psychonaut Both bands pwn

  • Fuck You.

    Modest mouse is good though.

  • I do love Modest Mouse as well as Built to Spill, but you're still a dick. Haha.

  • built to spill is modest mouse biggest influences they wouldnt exist without them. if they did theyre sound would be way different

  • i think they influenced each other. they both released their first album in ninety four.

  • Lets not forget about the pixies... You can hear a lot of influence in Modest Mouse music via the pixies... for sure

  • very true, I can hear the resemblence, it's so awsome

  • More!!!!

  • R>I>P> Miles Murray

  • LOVe it ^_^

  • they sound nothing like modest mouse lol wtf

  • Yea I've never liked Modest Mouse but I like this band. Just haven't listened to them a great deal.

  • maybe cause they are not modest mouse...

  • The original Built to Spill lineup put out Ultimate Alternative Wavers in '93

  • You're way off. Built to Spill released their first major album in 1997, whereas Modest Mouse released theirs in 200...Built to Spill was just wayy before it's time and got lost in the grunge era...but this is one of the most badass bands ever. If you get the chance to see them live, do it. Second best live performance I've ever seen.

  • Um, not to call you out, but modest mouse released their first album in 1996. Unless your just talking about first major album...

  • Built to Spill accutaly put out their first full length in 94

  • Comment removed

  • Hah yeah i could never really make out any other constellations.

Too bad doug marsche is a douche in person, but brett netson is the shit, he rolled me a cigarette.

  • "a douche in person"!??! Sir, I'll have you know Doug Martsch has, on many occasions, played impromptu, acoustic shows, before actual shows, to fans at sold out shows who got there too late to get a ticket. Now, are those the actions of a douche?!

  • sounds like Built to Spill to me 100%

  • I love all 3 of those bands

Built to Spill was first of the three though so..

  • 最高

  • wtf is this brontosaurus?

  • I love this version of this song, it's impossible to find though

  • why is it impossible to find?

  • Impossible to find? Go out and buy There is nothing wrong with love... it's one of the title tracks..... What is impossible is to hear them play this song live....

  • really? Cause this is the only version of this song I can find.... I've been trying to find the non-live acoustic version FOR AGES

  • I totally heard them play it live!

  • ty curtis, the more the merrier :D

  • Haha Steve Vai and Thin Lizzy? Talk about shitty taste. Dude even has Whitesnake in his favorites. Do you have a mullet and wear leather pants too? Cheesy Motherfucker.

  • There's nothing wrong with Thin Lizzy, most of the stuff Vai has done, and mullets. Leather pants are a little bit off the line, concur with that...

  • haha..looser

  • haha..tighter

  • You were looking for scientific information... on youtube?

    OK...

  • @Cometgreen It's actually not a bad idea. They have interesting clips of documentaries, not just bs from other people.
