What if you just want to sell your idea to an existing company for Royalties? How do you protect your idea without "limiting" the prospective company's needs with a Patent containing very specific details, some of which may be useless to that perspective company? They may love your idea but want to adjust some specs to fit their needs. Now you just gave them a great idea to "perfect" and in your mind, they stole your idea...legally!
