so did you take the weight out when you using the 1000mah lipos or was it still in? I have 1000mah 3s nanotechs or 1600mah turnigys lipos, what would you recommend? Merry xmas thanks for the great reviews.
Hi Don, great video. I got a Coota and flew it in too small an area. It IS fast (used to flying a Hawk Sky). Took off really well off asphalt. Had a hard landing, cracked the fuselage. Repaired now. Do you mean to cut off the tips of the stock 8 x 6 prop? My lipo is 1800 mah 8.4 volt. Woudn't the rpm increase with smaller diameter prop, and pull more, not less, amps? I'm unclear on this.
Hey, great videos on this coota. I see hobby king recommends a 2s battery and you are using a 3s. I know they have different voltages but how does this effect the esc and motor?
Great video, you really no it stuff Don and need it input before I order! how would you compair the seacaptain version of this plane, looks alittle better but you would no better then me for sure, mostly will be flying over water, seacaptain seems to float better
@mark350320 I've never flown the sea captain. I couldn't honestly tell you which is better. The pontoons look nice but I really like the plastic bottom of the Coota. You should take a look at hobbyking's Icon A5 too. That looks like a great set up. Hopefully I'll be putting more content up really soon. Stay tuned!
@lewandlo This is EPS. I don't mind EPS because it is lighter in general but doesn't bounce like EPO. It's all a give and take. Thanks for the question.
I've flown my Coota 5 times and finally have the CG where I like it. I am currently using a 1300 Mah 7.2 V battery. I took half of the nose weight from the factory out. I currently get about 9 minutes out on the 1300 Mah battery. I am planning on installing a 2000 or 2200 Mah 7.2 V battery and should be able to get14 to 15 minutes of mild flying. I haven't taken it to the pond yet but plane to the next flight.
@theeverythinggeek828 you could, but, the motor is not designed for that much power. It will burn out eventually. Just prop down, the airframe cant take the power anyways. That motor tower starts cracking. sub please!
Thanks Mate, Santa has one OTW for my Xmas and this info is very useful. Good to see the mods I need, has saved me a lot of heart ache. Will be taking her away on a house boat trip and looking forward to fun in the evenings.
@perilvraaf, It's people like you that keep me going at this thing. Thank you for you're complement, I do appreciate it. Please subscribe if you haven't already and stay tuned for some give aways. I can't have all the fun with these planes! :-)

Are you talking about a 2 cell lipo or a 3 cell in this video?

Instead of changing prop could you upgrade the ESC to a 30amp?

@dhdsracer then could you upgrade the motor? I'm just looking for that extra punch of power, thats all.
theeverythinggeek828 1 year ago
@dhdsracer Sorry, upgrade the motor WITH the 30amp ESC. And support the tower with CF rods and epoxy.
