@ChicagoBears345 i really don't like talking about artists and comparing their talent to other artists. i must say with honesty, the musicians in mayday parade seem to demonstrate much more musicianship than bands such as blink-182 / AVA. also, the reason they probably sound similar is because the opening progression is EXTREMELY common. i assume you're not a musician and shouldn't talk, but i could be wrong. just speaking a bit. sorry, have a great day!

@G122092 let's take AvA for example. they're great with experimenting with different effects. And they use these effects really well unlike some other bands who try and fail. now that's not only why they're talented. pretty much anyone can make good use of a delay and echo. but if you look at the style of guitaring, it's very signature of David Kennedy and Tom Delonge and i'm yet to find another band who can do what they do with the guitar.

@Taymix05 Matt Wachter is a very average bass player, but he makes up for it by having multiple musical talents, he is amazing on the keyboard and is a great producer. Same with Tom, he's also a good producer. The drumming is unique in that it's very punk influenced and typical of the punk genre, however it juxtaposes the guitar's and it works well. This is good because the punk drumming is being used against something more than just standard power chords and quick riffs.

Listening to AvA feels a lot grander and spectacular than listening to this. (again personal response) But i think a band like AvA is more talented than a band like this mainly because of how uniquely they use the tools given to them, plus they're skill set is very impressive. AAAAAAAAAAAAAND thats my essay ;)
