OAKLAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAANNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD! CALIFORNIA STAND THE FUCK UP!-East Oakland Roy
Hogan certainly had his limitations, but this is a fairly ridiculous statement nonetheless. Ventura was really incredibly bad in the ring, he was never even an average worker. Hogan was no Dynamite Kid, but he was at least competent (check out his Japan stuff). In addition, Ventura was a natural heel and never would have worked as the pro-America babyface...he was more an anti-hero. I'd say if anything Jesse was 15 years before his time.
The funny thing is that Santana lost the belt to Savage right before this match took place but still defended it since the title change hadn't aired on TV yet
Man could Jesse cut a promo or what? He was awesome. And yes he must have retired within weeks of this.

As far I'm concerned, Jesse Ventura should been given Hulk Hogan spot. Same ring skills, waaaaay better promos.

Was he still wrestling in 86? He must've retired right between this and WM 2.

@markallenkellner I remember he was a no show at an Oakland card due to illness some time in '86 and I don't think he ever wrestled again.
