(They explained that the original Brainiac had managed to create a niological body for himself at some point.) Usually the DCAU is pretty good about continuity.
The LSH cartoon isn't part of the DCAU, though; it's an entirely separate continuity. So this version of B5 doesn't have any previous appearances to contradict.
TV Tropes has a very convenient link; I felt the need for...serious study. I had forgotten that Holodeck!Clark said nearly the same things that Real!Clark did in the finale; I can't decide if that's more or less gay. But I admire the writers' commitment to their vision!

Noticed sortof an annoying continuity error. When you first see Brainiac laying in the empty room, he's laying on a big circle, but in the closeup he's laying between the circles and they're smaller.
I've never seen this show before but what I find somewhat disturbing, is that Brainiac 5 looks and sounds like a sort of humanised, cutesyfied fan fiction version of Invader Zim. There's a lot of Zim in his design. And his voice. Wrong!
True, but the original Brainiac has almost always been an android. Maybe the writers figured it would require less explanation to just make him an android like his ancestor. I'd say the writers of the comics would have done the same if Brainiac himself had started out an android from the beginning and they didn't have to change it because of a lawsuit.

My ancestor was a young boy Your archvillain adopted who turned on him and rescued my people from the computer tyrants running the planet." was too hard a concept to grasp? And you wouldnt know if the original writers would do. You can't read their minds. You weren't there. What the original writers meant was what they gave us.
And lawsuit? This is a DC program made by Warner Bros. You know, the people that OWN DC? Who are they gonna sue? Themselves?
Maybe I should elaborate.. Before DC created Brainiac, there was already a toy computer called Brainiac, and the company that made it filed a lawsuit against DC. They came to a compromise where DC changed Brainiac into a walking computer and advertised the toy computer in their comic.
So what I'm saying is, maybe if the writers had made Brainiac an android from the beginning, any ancestor of Brainiac would have been an android aswell, but since they had already established that Brainiac 5 was organic before they changed Brainiac to an android, they couldn't change him back and had to come up with an explanation for how an organic alien is the descendant of a robot.
Yeah, I just saw Superman: Doomsday yesterday. The first thing I did was laugh and think "Oh my gods, Lex is his abusive ex-boyfriend!" The fact that he was yelling about 'Why did you leave me?!' or whatever was beyond priceless. Then I heard Adam Wylie as Jimmy and was freaking out even more.
I think this is going to be sort of like Power Girl's breasts: they're just going to keep on making Brainy's love for Superman more and more overt until somebody forces them to stop.

And you wouldnt know if the original writers would do. You can't read their minds. You weren't there. What the original writers meant was what they gave us.
And lawsuit? This is a DC program made by Warner Bros. You know, the people that OWN DC? Who are they gonna sue? Themselves?

Maybe I should elaborate.. Before DC created Brainiac, there was already a toy computer called Brainiac, and the company that made it filed a lawsuit against DC. They came to a compromise where DC changed Brainiac into a walking computer and advertised the toy computer in their comic.

So what I'm saying is, maybe if the writers had made Brainiac an android from the beginning, any ancestor of Brainiac would have been an android aswell, but since they had already established that Brainiac 5 was organic before they changed Brainiac to an android, they couldn't change him back and had to come up with an explanation for how an organic alien is the descendant of a robot.

Yeah, I just saw Superman: Doomsday yesterday. The first thing I did was laugh and think "Oh my gods, Lex is his abusive ex-boyfriend!" The fact that he was yelling about 'Why did you leave me?!' or whatever was beyond priceless. Then I heard Adam Wylie as Jimmy and was freaking out even more.
