  • Silver jubilee for a Golden album.

  • I listen to this every April 5th, first thing in the morning!

  • Made sure I listened to this song today. 25 years after the album came out :)

  • Correction in lyrics;

"Come at [winter's] end" + "Gone is the [pallour] from a promise that nature's gift"

  • April 5th is my birthday, what a song

  • Best song on this album. Already pointing toward Spirit of Eden and Laughing Stock as early as 1986. Impressive.

  • Crying with every listen! Brilliant!!

  • 2 dum dum girls

  • Great song! What is a "pallow"?

  • @kaycart There are a couple of mistakes with the lyrics here. It should read "pallour".

  • To Mark Hollis who never sold out.

  • @glasgowgenie and the rest of talk talk too.

  • here she comes...

  • "Let me Breath!!!!"BEAUTIFUL

  • bought this on cassette in '86 - still listening to it today ......why?....because it is bloody gorgeous :)

  • Talk Talk is still one of the most underrated bands all-time. timeless music

  • bought this in 86 ,havent heard it since then ,24 years later, like finding a long lost mate and i still remember the words!!

  • I remember David Gahan of Depeche Mode saying that The Colour of Spring was his favourite album of the 80s - it's not difficult to see why really, is it?

  • An aural masterpiece. Talk Talk are/were a truly groundbreaking band.

  • My Fave of Talk Talk (yes Talk Talk) - obscure CD - Colours of Spring. This one is called April 5th. I love Dissonance in music... "not in life" :)

  • Timeless and fixed to no points in time....

  • great cd to listen to at night a faultless 80s classic easy on the ear.

  • Talk Talk made 5 albums, each one of them absolutely excellent.

  • Talk Talk was a great band in the 80's, brings back a lot of memories. I like this sone but I don't think I ever heard it before. I think it's a good song but it's also my birthday, how cool!

  • I just got this CD a couple days ago, let me tell you i simply love it like the other albums... What a great song this is simply beautiful

  • @dumdumfriend : i fell in love with this record as you did and i won the auction for an original UK '86 CD last week.

I'm listening to it right now: fabulous !

  • @jeffbeck70 Really? that's really cool... i love every single album of Talk Talk, there isn't one single album that i dont love :)...

  • One Word: Great!

  • For various reasons this song means a lot to me. I first heard it on a Walkman. I was on a train. The train was going through a south London station. I'd just left a job. The train carriage was empty. It was afternoon. I was looking out the window. In a week I would leave for America to see a girlfriend. I was 19. I was so in love with the world. Still am. Love this.

  • possibly the greatest album of all time(beatles excluded)...how many records can you listen to start to finish that won't let you skip a track?

  • Genius

  • One of my favourate songs EVER recorded! A strange feeling of being suspended in air in a peaceful state. It lifts me up everytime I listen to it, usually four or five times in a row. Years and years ahead of its time. One day everybody will appreciate this music and the work of TALK TALK.

  • To a glorious"Colour of Spring" Day!!!!

  • Indeed Happy April 5th

  • Happy April 5th.

  • I guess Martin Gore surely heard Hollis ;)

  • Ah. It's lovely. Thanks marc.

  • its about time mark hollis/talk talk were in the music hall of fame.

  • AAAAAAmazing.. Thats a post post modern music. And they played it too early when the World was still digesting late modernism.

  • Pure

  • Love that guitar lick at 01:42.

It's always the little things that make their music so great as well.

  • This is my first re visit to Talk Talk for many years. I am blown away by how amazing they still sound! I still only own this on tape!! I know what I want for Xmas.

  • i can't believe i was there! it was haunting then and no-one in the crowed breathed. still holds up after all these years.

  • Swayed without doubt by the fact that April 5th was and is my mothers birthday..just a beautiful piece of music and lyric. Life can throw up some sweet coincidence..

  • this doesn't even seem as though it came out in the eighties, like their first two albums

  • this comes from one of the best albums of the eighties, classic.

  • True. Though I would've phrased it: "This comes from one of the best albums of ALL TIME" or even better: "This comes from an album so magnificently pure & intense it can't accurately be labelled an album, than one of the greatest works of PURE ART in the history of mankind...."

  • so luky to be able to listen this music in the 80s su unluky to listen the rubbish music of today

  • Just don,t than, after 5 min MTV I,ve had it, ever thought that would happen to me but here I am,mostly liking music from myearly and late teens;-) btw, does MTV ever play music? what a load of crap on anyway

  • Yay and music today is dominated by two producers of people who ruined it - Simon Cowell and Louis Walsh!

  • Colour of Spring and Spirit of Eden... master pieces. April 5th is one of the bridges between the albums and it doesn't get better. Sheer beauty and brilliance. LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • haunting and beautiful thank god for talk talk

  • the greatest album ever

  • A-B-S-O-L-U-T-E-L-Y

  • This album keeps getting better and better with age ..... I hate to sound like my dad , but - "They don't make em like they used too" - a timeless masterpice for sure !!

  • If possible I would rate your comment 5000 stars. You got it!

  • :D totally agree, cheers m8

  • @Rohhaut arse licker

  • cheers m8, totally agree

  • i do sound like my dad !, but the music in the 80,s was red hot and loads slipped under the radar as the really big stadium bands took over ..... good to see them all back on the circuit , cmon mark crank it up one more time

  • I'd like to say it doesn't get much better than this, but I already posted that comment for 'It's Getting Late In The Evening'. Talk Talk and Mark Hollis made too much good music to single one track out as the best. That said, Spirit Of Eden would be my choice if I could only have one CD album.

  • What a composition. For me probably one of Talk Talk's best tracks.

Such a relaxing song by my favourite 80s band.

  • It's just the most beautiful track I ever heard in my life.

    Michel G / Nova Nova

  • Truly amazing music. Mark Hollis, please come back!!

  • maravilloso

  • maravilloso

  • Amazing song

  • Dramatic and artful thanks to Hollis' usual genius. Thanks for posting. Can someone please get him to start making music again?!

  • I adore this song...Colour of Spring is a pure master work.

Talk Talk were one of the most underrated and under recognised bands ever to come out of the UK...
