@rstscott Yeah, it was tough to sell it. My daughter gets her braces in a couple of weeks. The wheels were the most expensive cost to the mod - around $1000. That was for disassembly, powder coat the hub, rim, and spokes (one coat maroon and one coat clear candy apple red), new spoke nipples, reassembly, and shipping.
I rode a lot in the raid and the chrome nipples started to rust.
sir your videos have been very educational. i just recently purchased my first motorcycle its 09 nightster. i watched all of your mod videos they helped me out alot as far as seeing how to do many of the things you did thanks!
@bdorr67 Really like the look of your bike. I'm in the process of changing my Nightster into an old school bobber. Putting the exhaust wrap seems like a logical choice, but was wondering if you had any issues (problems) since you've had them installed. Been reading various forums, and opinions (as usual) are mixed. Some say it deteriorates the metal over time; others say, besides aesthetics, not very functional unless you do a lot of drag racing. Any input would help. Appreciated.
Great job Brian, an inspiration to fellow Nightster owners! I bought the 2009 version that was pre-matte finished. I plan on adding some apes and a new headlight soon.
I'm in awe of the work you've done sir. i'm 18 and i'm working on buying myself a nightster next month. what you've done to yours embodies the style i've been looking for. great job and thanks for the insperation.
Nice job!!! Only thing it needs is a Le Pera barebones seat.....I love the headlight it changes the whole look of the front end. What kind is it and where did you get it?
This is BAR NONE the best looking Nightster on YouTube! Well mother fucking done! I think I might have kept my Nightster (got a Street Bob after trade in) if I had the group of guys you have! Props...
Turned out good. I've been following this since your first vid. The only negative I have, and it's just personal taste, is the whitewall on the back. I would have went with front and rear. But like I said, that is just me. Good lookin scoot!! Thumbs up for sure.
I know this was a long time ago, but do you remember how much it cost you to have your wheels powder coated and relaced over at HDwheels?
Thanks Bro love what you did with this bike.....sorry you had to sell it.

@astonvrider I don't know if it deteriorates the metal or not - or whether is adds any function. But it looks cool as hell IMO. No problems.

Did you have to get your rims respoked when you had them powder coated? Great vid btw awesome!
YourNumberOneHero 2 years ago
Yeah, HDWheels in CA disassembled, powder coated (2 coats - marron base with flat candy), installed new nipples, re-assembled, and trued them.
bdorr67 2 years ago
love your bike man. if you don't mind me asking, what's it cost to have those rims coated?

Nice looking N - sounds great too!
It's still fuel injected. I just changed the air cleaner and had it remapped.

Got the headlight off of ebay. Do a search for 7" Fatboy headlight and you should get some hits.

did you put any chemical on the exhaust wrap? silicon spray or something else? why is there all this smoke? btw very nice bike...
maidenasuk 2 years ago
No. The smoking is normal when first starting the bike up with a new wrap. I believe the wrap is graphite impregnated.
bdorr67 2 years ago
OK! I got it! Thanks for your reply!

what kind of apes are those?
lchen6 2 years ago
Burly Narrow Glide Apes - 14" rise. Got them on Amazon. They also come in black.
bdorr67 2 years ago
Very nice bike. I was wondering how you mounted the headlight to the triple tree.
08nightster1980 2 years ago
The headlight came with a mount. We drilled through the bottom fork bracket.
