To do that elbow move you have to be fast and explosive Saenchai is the only person I've seen pull it off against a skilled fighter in any Muay Thai, Lethwei, or Pradal Serey match. Seen what the Phillipeanos' have done in western boxing and the level of talent I've seen in boxers from Thailand, Cambodia, and Burma I'm convinced that pound for pound or kilo for kilo the Southeast Asians' are the hardest hitters in the world and they are great athletes. So explosive and fast yet so powerful.
plz understand muay thai originated from cambodia. it was a branch off of an ancient khmer martial art called Bokator. why do you think kun khmer and muay thai are so alike in every aspect? because they are the same thing!

u sound like u r on drugs. what the hell is Jaba. i ave been living and fighting in Thailand for 10 years. i have never herd of jaba. if there is such a thing then they seartainly don't all use it. i know they have a drug called Yaa baa but they definatly don;t use that or they would get 20 years in jail. The world ranks are mainly thai in the lower weights and heavy and lighbt heavy from everywhere.
Thai Jaba drug addicted is written in English and in Thailand has a drug museum. MOst Thai consume drug included Thai soldiers, Thai fighter, but they don't talk because they afraid of their govt.
look maybe some people used this drug but i have spoken to my wife who is thai and her couson and they have never herd of the drug jaba. i know sometimes thais drink thai red bull which i think contains amphimtes . i used to drink before i fight but i found it only last 20 minutes then i felt even more tired.rarther than just using my natural power. i will have to google this jaba as i have never herd of it
Your Thai wife and her cousin never heard of Jaba because they never learn about it. Many Thai are so ignorant what's going on in Thailand because the Thai govt never teach Thai of the truth education and that's why the ICJ and the UNESCO can prove Khmer Preah Vihear temple never belonged to Thai as per the Thai claim.
Red bull is not the same as Jaba because Red bull can be sold every bar while Jaba is not because of its danger of drug.
ok. i wait to see u on tv. u can go to the thai soliders on the bordr and let them know they have got it all wrong and the temple belongs to Cambodia. ha ha. u r a proper joker. thats right the thai govement don't tell you that drugs are illegal. thats why everyone who gets arrested for drugs doesn't know what they have done wrong.
The only Jaba i know is Jaba the Hut. right or wrong Thailand is a stronger country so there.en of Bore someone else
You don't have to tell us telling Thai soldiers at the border, Thai soldiers already got caught stealing Cambodia property on landmines and died on landmines.
Thailand Jaba strong is number nine the most dangerous terrorist attack by the TRI and Thailand Jaba strong is using gun to steal property from its own PM and steal Cambodia property at the border. We just sit back and relax watching the daily bomb blast and the red shits go crazy over the Thai court.
boring.. enjoy living in poverty. Suppose you are right Cambodia is stronger than thailand. but then who cares cause most thais don't live in poverty. Unless all the Cambodians. so yes you can win the war whle u r sitting in you box. suppose u need something to make u feel better. so ok take a lolly pop and go back to you little hole.
my sensei recently taught us that double elbow actually....it's definitely not a move to fuck around with, you could easily cripple or kill someone with it.
cambodia didnt took over thailand, it was ours from the beginning..the thais just came and seek refugee in our land after getting ther ass whooped by mongols...we took them in, taught them our religion, taught them our culture( apsara, bokator, etc) and in return they betrayed us behind our back. If thai people really know muay boran in the beginning i doubt that theyll be whooped by mongols, so thats my theory y muay thai wasnt originated from thailand..it was taught to them by the khmers
At 6:48 he did it wrong for this style, in MuayThai and this style (Which is the same thing) I learned that your suppose to use the bone part of your elbow.
did you know that wushu was actually invented by an indian monk? from there on, martial arts started to spread throughout asia, so yes you are correct about one culture sharing with another...
@vash9 bullshit thailand had our own martial arts long before cambodia ... cambodians were still building their empires when thais were fighting with burmese to protect themselves ...
@vash9 haha yea it was written ... it was also written on the history books of the TAI people in THAILAND when they were defending themselves from the burmese in AYUTTAYA ... check ur REAL sources and u might get some real knowledge ...sides no one copied anybody else, the arts created their own way in their own places, now go to the walls of the ancient Wat and compare it with AYUTTAYAN WATS go real history ...
@vash9 thats true but if you think about it thailand modified it and in my opinion the modification made pradal serey better or now its called muay thai
there are different types of fighting but the most that catches my attention is pradal serey but what you guys are talking about tells me a little history about my own..
I apologize, I didnt mean to offend, I sometimes say things without thinking too much of the consequenses.
I have only the highest respect for the khmeer people, and I can only imagine all the stuff they`ve been through.
As a kurd I should`ve known better, my people have also been the victims of various wars and poverty, but now, like with your people, its getting better.
Ill come to Angkor Wat someday, its too amazing to miss.
My sympathy goes out to the Kurds in Turkey and Iraq. You guys do deserve your own homeland. No need to apologize to me. I will be honest with you, Angkor Wat currently might look like crap. The tourists who go there keep ruining the temple complex by carving their names all over, and some have attempted to cut off the stone carvings to sell on the black market.
Most of the gold on the Hindu and Buddha head's statue have been cut off, taken when the capital was sacked by the Thais and Chams. If you come to Cambodia, go in search of the authentic Bokator masters. If you need help, I can help you look for the addresses of the schools. The people there will teach to you with open arms.
There were some articles earlier from reputed Newspaper articles, and archaelogical finds, about Khmer Civilization and Martial arts. Look it up on google. A couple of years ago, ancient Bokator inscriptions were found, dating back to the Angkorian period. It literally became a national treasure overnight. So many ancient techniques discovered. Look it up online. The New York Times did an article on it as well a couple of years back.
Many of the teachers that I talked to are in their late 80s. Even my uncle is getting close to 50. Some will cry because they don't have enough time to teach everything to the younger generation. A lot has been lost during the past century.
They refer to Khmers as the Niggers of Asia. We are discriminated against because of our dark skin. If you'd understood what real Khmers have been through, and suffered from throughout the decades, then you'll understand, why some of us are proud of our heritage, even if that heritage is the martial arts. To say that it's fake, is a disrespect to all who practice it. Most who practice it are poor, malnourished, and have been disenfranchised by the past. Whatever they have to past on, is
If you'd like to learn about the Khmer Surin people, then search it up on Google. Type in " Khmer Surin ", they have videos of themselves on youtube as well. Search of Tony Jaa, from the movie Ong Bak, and search of Buakaw, the K1 kickboxer. They are all ethnic Khmers. They're real names are in Khmer, all from the Surin areas. Real Khmers are dark like Buakaw. Other Asian ethnic groups look down on us, and sometimes treat us inhumanely because of our dark skin.
During the formation of the early Thai Kingdoms of Sukhothai and Ayuthya, some of their best warriors were of Khmer descent. The formation of one of the first Laos kingdoms was formed when a Laos prince trained by the Khmer King married a Khmer Princess. Hence, the mixture of different ethnic groups formed.
Muay Thai and Pradal Serey is basically the same thing. Coming from the same source. You can go and ask some of the teachers of Muay Thai and Kun Lao, and they might tell you secretly that the art actually came from Cambodia, because a lot of the teachers in the Issan, Surin, and Chiangmai area are ethnic Khmers. Muay Boran which is what the Thais say are an ancient form of Muay Thai, is the same as Kun Khmer Boran. Muay Boran are Khmer words, meaning ancient one.
Cambodia now has a serious demographics problem. A lot of the population is young. The older people are there to pass on Khmer traditions are dieing out. Cambodia has suffered alot the the past couple hundred years. We we're constantly invaded by our neightbors. During French occupation and colonialism, a majority of the population were denied any education in their own language. A lot of culture and traditions were outlawed. During the Khmer Rouge era, the educated were killed off.
No way the bokator or pradal serey could have been reinvented by oral tradition and those carvings alone.
NO FRIGGIN WAY
Either A: there were practioners who remained and trained underground during the khmer rule or B:and im sorry to say and dont want to offend, that khmer boxing or pradal serey as it is today os fake and not the same as ancient khmer boxing
You are a moron period. You don't know jack shit about Cambodia. If all you knew about Cambodia was from a TV show, then you are a moron. Read the history of the Khmers and Cambodia before you make some stupid comment about it being fake. Why don't you bring you fuckin ass to Cambodia and tell me how fake it is?
Pradal Serey was never reinvented. It's part of Kun Khmer Boran. It's remained mainstream since the founding of the Khmer Empire. During French colonialism it was slimmed down, in order to reduce the number of fatalities in the ring. As for Bokator, because it was a deadly art, most of the practitions for hundreds of years remained underground during French rule, and during the Communist rule. Only a select few survived the Killing Fields.
If you would take your head outta your ass and actually read what I said it was basically what you had written.
In the documentary Master Kru Bounthoeun at 0:45 say that they redeveloped the weapon system of Bokator and Pradal Serey from those ancient forms of Pradal Serey on the wall.
I've been to Angkor Wat. The ancient carvings and the descriptions on there describe in details some of the techniques. Pradal Serey is the sport of Freestyle Kickboxing. The art itself is Kun Khmer Boran. Pradal Serey fights were always mainstream. It's just that during the last 3 decades, it almost disappeared because of communist rule, genocide, and the Vietnamese occupation during the 70's and 80's. Anyone who practiced Kun Khmer Boran or Bokator, was either killed off, or
or they practiced it underground. The remaining few that practiced it secretly only taught a handful of people that they thought were good people. They guy that's translating isn't saying it correctly. What's happening now, is that the remaining Bokator masters, and practitioners of Kun Khmer Boran are trying to come together, put their ideas together to make the arts complete. Differents teachers know different techniques. Most of the people in Cambodia are under the age of 35. The elders
The elders with the knowledge of the art, are dieing off. Only a handful are left. The one's who have the knowledge are trying hard to spread the art again. Once these older guys die out, that's it. It's up to the younger generation to uphold, that knowledge. I don't mean to get angry. But to say that it's fake it disrespectful to the people who try to bring it back. My uncle practices Kun Khmer Boran. He's never been to Angkor Wat, to reinvent anything. It's been taught as a
a tradition to the select few who are willing to learn. The carvings on the temples are just a confirmation of the history of Khmer martial arts and the battles they've endured. It's not about reinventing, it's more like trying to bring the arts back to the mainstream, before it's lost. I'm sure you've probably learned about the Killing Fields in Cambodia. The communist literally killed anyone who was educated or had any knowledge of Kun Khmer Boran or Bokator.
During the Vietnamese occupation, most Khmers were denied an education. Most of the traditions again remained outlawed. Things remained underground, even with the martial arts. Because of the genocide the Khmer Rouge era, a lot of older people died out, leaving only a handful of young people to spread the traditions and knowledge of the past.
If you ever have a chance go to Cambodia, then go to Angkor Wat, to check out the carvings for yourself. Khmer civilization has existed long before the Khmer Empire formed. Read up about he history of the first Khmer Kingdoms of Chenla and Funan. Parts of Burma, and most of Thailand, Laos, Malaysia, and Vietnam were all part of the Khmer empire. Khmers have settled in the area since the 3rd century BC. Ancient Khmers descended from people who migrated from India. Do a goople picture
picture check of people in Cambodia. Most of them have this phenotype look, like that of people living in India. People in the country look dark and tan, like this. People in the city look more mongoloid because a lot are mixed with either Chinese or Viet. If you'd like to see for yourself the real Kun Khmer Boran, then go straight to secluded areas in the countryside, where the art lives on. Pradal serey fights are common. It's just not so in the city, where most of the population reside,
Modern day Thailand and Laos, have been heavily influenced by Khmer Culture. The Thai and Laos alphabet is borrowed from Khmer Alphabets. Thailand is heavily culturally influenced by Khmer Culture. You can do the research for yourself. Most of the ancient Temples in Thailand, Laos, Vietnam, and northern Malaysia, are Khmer temples. Khmers can read what's on there, but the Thais, Laos and other's could not.
The remaining Khmers who lived in Thailand, and Laos when it was formed, intermixed with Thais, Laos, and Malays, hence, that's why you see a fusion of Khmer Culture, into parts of modern day Thailand and Laos. There's still a large ethnic Khmer population in Thailand in the Issan, Surin, and Chiangmai area. This is the heart of where some of the best Muay Thai fighters come from. Most of the fighters from that region are called Khmer Surin. They are ethnic Khmers.
It is great to see an art like Pradal Serey and Bokator survive, in fact thriving. If it is true these arts were in use a thousand years ago they very well may be the foundations of Muay Thai, Silat and Kali. I really like that double elbow strike, it is compact and keeps control of the centerline.
omgg....are you trippin trex257 have you even watched the movie bloodsport. it had nothing 2 do with muay thai or pradel serey apart from one fighter...the main dude n everyone else were pretty obviously using karate! lol sorry had 2 point dat out..but umm u were jokin right or u really cant tell the difference? lol
SHIT! That was my bad, I meant Kickboxer not Bloodsport. You were right. I just got the movies mixes up. The name of the show had "bloodsport" in it so I automatically thought of that name but with Kickboxer's plot. No need to get all crazy man, it was an honest mistake.
Yeah, I just had a brain fart about which movie was which, that's all. You're right, a lot of Van Dam's movies do blend together. Kickboxer is my fav though from him.
No country is more good than others. USA, Cambodia, whatever, none is better. Dont became so angry, they say the area they were in was poor, because is in Jungle. I am Japanese, as 3rd party I thinking USA is more rich, but in no way better. USA people are very nice, and there is not as many fat people as most countries think. USA is my favorit country, Jason and Bill are brave to fight these guys! They rock!
almost the same, seperated by racsm, history n politics lol since da khmer empire was at itz peak covering all of laos, thailand and malaysia
with records dating 2 at least 900 a.d. i say the khmers have a better claim. tho thaiand made it wat it is today. kinda wut brazil did too jujutsu. the thais did to kickboxing. Marketing n modern innovation. lol
i guess i dont care were it comes from just whos better at it and were to learn it from .history is just history i think people get hug up in martail arts in to much thoery which has no pratical impact on there training as were muay thai came from ie
learning the arts history is showing the art respect. well thats if you really love what you do. but i guess there are sum people who only care about technique and nothing else. which is fine. but i for one enjoy both the training n the history, makes the experience all thee more special =] lol nothing wrong with getting "hug" on both.
you carnt show respect to something that isnt a person really. anyhow i think all this different arts and different claims have made martail arts more and more distant from each other making them all weaker if we all stop the politics and just got in there fight each other we would learn what is effecive and what isnt or wait a second there have already done this is mma. its not special to fight and train this is how all men lived in the old days we have just gotten weaker and lamer with time
respect can be applied wuteva you want it too. =] but judging by your comment..well it just speak for it self. your a typical american. lack respect 4 anything but our self, 2 ignorant 2 learn anything new. its more ore to martial arts then just fighting. The styles didn't get lamer with time, the pople who pratise
im not american and i respect martail arts and the people who have deadicated there lives to it but not there history as it is irrelivatne and only puts all martail artist more apart from each other same as race color language you name it we use that to make rasictism real . i pratice muay thai with a champion and i respect all fighter and martial arts but i just dont see the point of gettin hug up on history
Along with all us 1000000000 Asian immagrents to USA each year!!! xD I am very much love USA, before I come here with my boyfriend I am think is many fat people, but is not. Dont under estemating USA people, they are great people! Until you are actually go here (I see you have not because you make fake assumtion) dont judging them =(

ok. i wait to see u on tv. u can go to the thai soliders on the bordr and let them know they have got it all wrong and the temple belongs to Cambodia. ha ha. u r a proper joker. thats right the thai govement don't tell you that drugs are illegal. thats why everyone who gets arrested for drugs doesn't know what they have done wrong.
The only Jaba i know is Jaba the Hut. right or wrong Thailand is a stronger country so there.en of Bore someone else

@MrChicken1976
We just sit back and relax watching the daily bomb blast and the red shits go crazy over the Thai court.

cambodia didnt took over thailand, it was ours from the beginning..the thais just came and seek refugee in our land after getting ther ass whooped by mongols...we took them in, taught them our religion, taught them our culture( apsara, bokator, etc) and in return they betrayed us behind our back. If thai people really know muay boran in the beginning i doubt that theyll be whooped by mongols, so thats my theory y muay thai wasnt originated from thailand..it was taught to them by the khmers

Look it up online. The New York Times did an article on it as well a couple of years back.

AK47KHMER 3 years ago
During the formation of the early Thai Kingdoms of Sukhothai and Ayuthya, some of their best warriors were of Khmer descent. The formation of one of the first Laos kingdoms was formed when a Laos prince trained by the Khmer King married a Khmer Princess. Hence, the mixture of different ethnic groups formed.
AK47KHMER 3 years ago
Muay Thai and Pradal Serey is basically the same thing. Coming from the same source. You can go and ask some of the teachers of Muay Thai and Kun Lao, and they might tell you secretly that the art actually came from Cambodia, because a lot of the teachers in the Issan, Surin, and Chiangmai area are ethnic Khmers. Muay Boran which is what the Thais say are an ancient form of Muay Thai, is the same as Kun Khmer Boran. Muay Boran are Khmer words, meaning ancient one.
AK47KHMER 3 years ago
Cambodia now has a serious demographics problem. A lot of the population is young. The older people are there to pass on Khmer traditions are dieing out. Cambodia has suffered alot the the past couple hundred years. We we're constantly invaded by our neightbors. During French occupation and colonialism, a majority of the population were denied any education in their own language. A lot of culture and traditions were outlawed. During the Khmer Rouge era, the educated were killed off.
AK47KHMER 3 years ago
No way the bokator or pradal serey could have been reinvented by oral tradition and those carvings alone.
NO FRIGGIN WAY
Either A: there were practioners who remained and trained underground during the khmer rule or B:and im sorry to say and dont want to offend, that khmer boxing or pradal serey as it is today os fake and not the same as ancient khmer boxing
realmusikforya 3 years ago
You are a moron period. You don't know jack shit about Cambodia. If all you knew about Cambodia was from a TV show, then you are a moron. Read the history of the Khmers and Cambodia before you make some stupid comment about it being fake. Why don't you bring you fuckin ass to Cambodia and tell me how fake it is?
AK47KHMER 3 years ago
Pradal Serey was never reinvented. It's part of Kun Khmer Boran. It's remained mainstream since the founding of the Khmer Empire. During French colonialism it was slimmed down, in order to reduce the number of fatalities in the ring. As for Bokator, because it was a deadly art, most of the practitions for hundreds of years remained underground during French rule, and during the Communist rule. Only a select few survived the Killing Fields.
AK47KHMER 3 years ago
If you would take your head outta your ass and actually read what I said it was basically what you had written.
In the documentary Master Kru Bounthoeun at 0:45 say that they redeveloped the weapon system of Bokator and Pradal Serey from those ancient forms of Pradal Serey on the wall.
realmusikforya 3 years ago
And later Bill Duff say that the learned the syle of Bokator and Pradal Serey from those carvings and oral tradition.
This means that A: they are lying/ignorant and that people always had trained underground or B: the style is reinvented.
If you know more than me, and you probably do, then you dont have to get all defensive about it, cus im just saying what im seeing.
realmusikforya 3 years ago
I've been to Angkor Wat. The ancient carvings and the descriptions on there describe in details some of the techniques. Pradal Serey is the sport of Freestyle Kickboxing. The art itself is Kun Khmer Boran. Pradal Serey fights were always mainstream. It's just that during the last 3 decades, it almost disappeared because of communist rule, genocide, and the Vietnamese occupation during the 70's and 80's. Anyone who practiced Kun Khmer Boran or Bokator, was either killed off, or
AK47KHMER 3 years ago
or they practiced it underground. The elders
AK47KHMER 3 years ago
The elders with the knowledge of the art, are dieing off. Only a handful are left. The one's who have the knowledge are trying hard to spread the art again. Once these older guys die out, that's it. It's up to the younger generation to uphold, that knowledge. I don't mean to get angry. But to say that it's fake it disrespectful to the people who try to bring it back. My uncle practices Kun Khmer Boran. He's never been to Angkor Wat, to reinvent anything. It's been taught as a
AK47KHMER 3 years ago
a tradition to the select few who are willing to learn.
AK47KHMER 3 years ago
During the Vietnamese occupation, most Khmers were denied an education. Most of the traditions again remained outlawed. Things remained underground, even with the martial arts. Because of the genocide the Khmer Rouge era, a lot of older people died out, leaving only a handful of young people to spread the traditions and knowledge of the past.
AK47KHMER 3 years ago
If you ever have a chance go to Cambodia, then go to Angkor Wat, to check out the carvings for yourself. Khmer civilization has existed long before the Khmer Empire formed. Read up about he history of the first Khmer Kingdoms of Chenla and Funan. Parts of Burma, and most of Thailand, Laos, Malaysia, and Vietnam were all part of the Khmer empire. Khmers have settled in the area since the 3rd century BC. Ancient Khmers descended from people who migrated from India. Do a goople picture
AK47KHMER 3 years ago
picture check of people in Cambodia. It's just not so in the city, where most of the population reside,
AK47KHMER 3 years ago
Modern day Thailand and Laos, have been heavily influenced by Khmer Culture. The Thai and Laos alphabet is borrowed from Khmer Alphabets. Thailand is heavily culturally influenced by Khmer Culture. You can do the research for yourself. Most of the ancient Temples in Thailand, Laos, Vietnam, and northern Malaysia, are Khmer temples. Khmers can read what's on there, but the Thais, Laos and other's could not.
AK47KHMER 3 years ago
