i got lucky on this boss fight. mario and mallow were koed i ran out of red essenses and pick me ups and geno was the last one standing. the crystals were gone and it was just geno vs. culex. i fired the hand cannon and then a message appeared saying culex had run out of FP. so i spammed hand cannon and got really lucky in winning.

Combining the Safety Badge and the Lazy Shell Armor pretty much breaks the game. That's why Toadstool is so godly in this fight, taking almost no damage from all except physical and Dark Star. And that's why fear doesn't work.

Yeah, if you can tank for long enough, this fight will become easy once they run out of FP. Culex will still have the deadly physical attack, but he won't always use it and will waste a turn failing at using a special.

Considering how old this video is, I was resisting commenting. But this fight was just painful to watch. Low stats, you don't use red essence, and going like 20 rounds without using a pick me up on Mario or Geno. BY 6:00, I was rooting for Culex. If this was an FF game or Chrono Trigger, you have gotten your ass kicked.

The one thing i remembered when playing helped so much, but it's kinda cheap and takes a while. Just keep Peach alive with the lazy shell and keep defending until all crystals and Culex run out of fp. Then only Culex can physically attack you. Then you can revive the other characters and it's soooo much easier.
